{41} A Dangerous Drug
Chapter Forty One A Dangerous Drug
The most exciting, incredible, amazing thing happened to me today. Dad pulled through and yes I got it back. I got my phone back! How exciting was that? It was like I was missing a piece of me and now I was fully whole again. Jayce was a good stand in but even he couldn't help me with everything.
But that bad part of having my phone back was I didn't have an excuse anymore. I couldn't no longer use,
"I don't have my phone."
So when Hailey sent a group message reminding us that we had practice, I received it, along with others. I got ready for the long practice ahead of me and prepared myself mentally and phyically.
It was the first week of March and Mr. Dean said Hailey, Cassidy and I could officially start cheering again. I missed cheering but I didn't miss the hours and sweat put in.
Hailey didn't waste any time as she walked in the gym and got everyone's attention. We didn't have much time to work our on national routine with April approaching.
"Let's get started."
She began to count through the routine and stop when a person messed up or forgot the next part. We went over a part twice before moving on to the next part.
"Stop!" Hailey ordered, while standing in the front, watching everyone. "Those jumps were horrible! I want your toes pointed!" She said. "Do it again and this time get off the ground!"
By the end of practice, it was like someone dump a bucket of water on my body. I was covered in sweat and my muscles were aching. It was just a two minute routine but it felt way longer. Hailey was set on winning and nothing was going to stop her. She was going to push us until she got our very best and this week was going to be hell for every single one of us.
I had Cass drop me off at my house and told her I would be at the dorm later tonight. Mom wasn't here because she needed to run some errands and she didn't want to leave the house unattended when an important piece of her yard art arrived.
I walked inside and I felt like puking but I couldn't. I have nothing in my stomach. I went to take a shower and hoped that would make me feel better.
After my shower, I headed downstairs to the living room to be closer to the door. I let Koda in to keep me company while I lounge on the couch. Bear was with Jayce but he would be here soon.
I flicked through the channels and decided on watching Criminal Minds. It was the epsiode where JJ was abducted and lost her unborn child.
I was almost halfway through with it when the front door opened and I heard paws on the wooden floor before Bear appeared in front of me.
I smiled. "There's my pretty boy." I rubbed his head.
A few seconds later, Jayce stepped into the living room. Koda moved to play with Bear and Jayce took her spot next to me. He placed his arm over the back of the couch and grinned.
"Hey, Mickey."
I rolled my eyes. "You're the only one who still calls me that." I informed him. "Why?"
"Well.." He began. "I think it's kinda obvious. It's a nickname for your middle name; Mickeala."
"Yeah but that's not why you call me that. There's another reason."
"You're right." He agreed. "There is."
I waited for him to add on to it and he never did. He just grabbed the remote and turned the volume up a little.
"Are you gonna tell me or am I gonna have to force it out of you?"
He glanced at me, smiling. "I'm kinda curious to see how you're gonna force me to tell you."
"Don't tempt me." I warned him. "Just tell me."
"I will just not right now."
"Why not right now?"
"How was practice?" He asked.
"Don't try to change the subject."
He sighed. "Cole, it's not a big deal. I call you Mickey, because I love calling you that."
I stared into his blue eyes and he wasn't lying. He genuinely meant it. I opened my mouth to respond but that's when the bell rang.
I stood up and walked over the door. Koda and Bear followed behind me. I opened the door and a older man was holding the 'precious' piece my mother so badly needed.
"Are you Mrs. Jaxon?"
I shook my head. "That's my mom."
He nodded. "Okay. That's perfectly fine."
He handed me a clipboard and informed me to sign my name on the bottom. I did so and he handed me the box and I thanked him before shutting the door.
I walked to the kitchen and sat the box on the counter before walking into the living room.
"What was that?"
I shrugged. "A piece of yard art my mom ordered."
He nodded before returning his attention back to the show. I didn't move from my stance as I watched him. A few seconds later, he realized I haven't moved from my spot.
"Are you gonna sit down or what?"
I shook my head. "I don't feel like sitting."
A smirked crawled across his face, slowly. "Not even on me?"
"Especially not you."
"You've been a tease, lately."
I leaned my back against the wall as I crossed my arms over my chest. I arched an eyebrow.
"Oh have I? I couldn't tell."
He got up. Making his way over to me, he stood in front of me. He leaned his face closer to mine and I stared into his blue eyes.
"Do you wanna know what I've been thinking about?"
"What?" I asked.
"That night you were begging."
I grinned. "I'm pretty sure I'm the one who had you begging."
He rolled his eyes. "I'm not talking about that night but I wouldn't mind seeing you in that red lingerie again."
"Of course you wouldn't." I agreed.
"So what do you say? Part two?"
Before I could reply back, Koda and Bear nudged between our legs, moving Jayce away from me.
"There's your answer." I said, smiling.
He glared at me in annoyance. "Are you serious?"
I nodded my head. "Dead serious."
I gave him a quick kiss on his lips before leading Koda and Bear outside. Jayce followed me a couple of minutes later. He hugged me from behind as he rest his chin on my shoulder.
"Beside, my mom will be here soon." I told him.
"So you're saying if you knew without a doubt in your mind that you had the house to yourself, your answer would've been different?"
"Exactly."
"Fuck!" He swore. "What if-"
"Jayce." I interrupted him. "Let it go. I promise you, I'll sleep with you again soon."
I walked forward, stepping out of his embrace. I picked up a tennis ball and throw it in the air.
"How soon?"
I glanced over my shoulder and smiled. "Very soon."
He walked over to me and pulled me into a kiss longer than our previous one. I snaked my arms around his neck and he gripped my hips, bringing our bodies closer together.
It was crazy to feel this amount of emotions from just one single person. The person I swore would just be my best friend turned out to my everything.
He had his days where he would frustrate me but I would rather it be with him than someone else.
He drove me insane with one single touch and made my heart race with just one look. He was a dangerous drug but I would so happily overdose on him.
We were a deadly combination yet a beautiful one.
Our kiss was interrupted by my birthgiver.
"Colby?"
I pulled away from Jayce and looked over his shoulder to see my mother sitting through the slide door.
"Can I talk to you?"
I nodded my head. "Yeah."
"Hey, Mrs. Jaxon." Jayce greeted her with a smile.
"Hi, Jayce." She looked at me. "I'll be waiting for you."
Once she walked inside, I looked at Jayce.
"What do you think she wants to talk to you about?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. It could be anything."
He nodded. "Let me knows how it goes."
I frowned. "You're not staying?"
"No," He said, shaking his head. "I have somewhere to be. I really was supposed to leave five minutes ago."
"Oh okay. Well I guess you should get going then."
"I'll call you later, alright?"
"Alright."
He bent his head down to gave me one last kiss before walking through the gate to the front. I took a deep breath before walking into the house. I slid the door closed and proceded to where my mom was.
I knew my mother was never the one to beat around the bush but I expected her to at least ease her way into the topic. But of course this was my mother I was talking about. When did she ever not blurt something embarrassing out?
"Are you two having sex?"
I choked on air. "What?"
"Are you using protection?"
I blushed. "Oh my gosh, Mom! I really don't need your advise on this."
"It's just a simple yes or no question." She stated, calmly.
"No, it's an invasion of my privacy."
"So you are sexually active."
"Mom!"
"Would you rather have this conversation with your father instead?"
Hell no! I thought to myself.
"I rather not discuss with anyone. I'm not in high school anymore you don't need to have the talk with me. I know about safety and all that."
"Do I need to put you on birth control because I can schedule an appointment right now?" She continued to press.
I placed my head in my hands as I groaned. I looked up and she was waiting for my answer.
"No, Mom. Jayce and I are not having sex."
Of course I had to lie to her. If she knew I wasn't a virgin anymore, I would be going to a different college far away from Jayce. Hell, I would be going to an all girls' school.
She nodded her head. "Okay. I had to ask."
"Okay, great. I'm going to pretend we just didn't have this awkward conversation and disappear into my room."
Before she could say a word, I left and make my way up the stairs to my room. I closed the door and lie on my bed.
If I thought my Grandma was worse, then mom was the worst. Why did everyone want to know about my sex life? Grandma wanted me to get pregnant so she could have her great grandbabies and Mom wanted me to use protection. They were the complete opposite but they were both still involved in my private life.
As I was laying on my bed, my eyelids got heavy. I didn't want to sleep but I couldn't fight against it. I was exhaust from my long practice earlier today and it was started to hit me hard right now.
I closed my eyes and dreamt about the guy with blue eyes.
I woke up a couple of hours later when my phone was vibrating. I grabbed it and didn't bother to check the i.d. before answering it.
"Hello?" I said in a sleepy voice.
"Your voice sounds sexy when you're tired."
"What do you want, Jayce?"
"I was just checking to how your talk went."
I groaned. "Don't even ask. I don't wanna think about it."
He chuckled. "It was that bad, huh?"
"You have no idea."
"Actually I do." He said. "My mom had the same conversation Blair had with you."
That woke me up as I shot upright, quickly.
"What did you tell her?"
"What do you think I told her?" He asked, rhetorically."I told her we were having sex."
"No you didn't, Jayce." I said. "I swear to God if you told her that, I'm killing you."
He laughed. "I'm just kidding, Mickey. I'm hurt you thought I would tell my mom anything and would kill me."
"I freaking hate you. You know that right?"
"Yeah I do. You never fail to not tell me that at least once a day. I was hoping now that we were dating, you would love me and all that."
I rolled my eyes. "Of course I love you, Jayceon."
I didn't have to see him to know he was smiling. I never thought about it but I was fairly sure this was the first time I said I love you aloud. I knew he loved me because of the video but hearing it from him would be completely different. It would make me happier than I already was.
"Good because I love you, Cole."
