{31} Showing You Up Like I Knew That I Would
Chapter Thirty One Showing You Up Like I Knew That I Would
"I found it!" Cassidy exclaimed, pulling out another outfit.
I was sitting in front of my full body mirror, doing my make up. I glanced at her through the mirror and smiled.
"Yeah. It only took about five hours."
She narrowed her eyes, teasingly, at me. "I told you already. It has to be something worthy."
"Yeah, yeah. I know." I went back to finishing my eye make up.
My phone vibrated and I put down my mascara to grab it. It was a text from Levi asking if we were ready. I told him to give us thirty more minutes. We were all going to ride together while Anthony, Sabrina and Chance meet us there.
"Oh." Cass said. "I probably should've mentioned this earlier but Nolan invited Jayce to came along."
I looked at her. The only reason I decided to go out was to take my mind off him. It wouldn't help much if he came.
"So much for a girls' night out." I muttered.
She smiled. "Well that only means we have to go out again."
"Let's see how this night goes before I agree to anything."
"You might as well say yes cause it's gonna be an amazing night."
I stood up and stripped out off my old shirt and shorts before covering my body with a black deep V neck crop top with black and gold tight looking shorts and black pumps. I put on a black and gold necklace and left my hair in its natural state.
I looked at Cass and saw her perfect outfit.
It was a cream looking color off the shoulders shirt with a leather snake skin pattern black shirt and lace up cream heels. She placed a black choker around her neck and her hair was down in loose curls.
"We look hella hot." Cassidy commented. "Shit if I wasn't in a relationship, I would date myself."
I laughed. "You would." I agreed. "Let's go. Levi's already here."
Locking the door behind us, we left. We took the elevator and when the doors opened, Arianna was standing behind them.
She looked us up and down. "Oh look who it is. Tramp 1 and Tramp 2."
Cassidy opened her mouth to say something and I probably should've let her do so but I beat her to it. We didn't need any problems before we even made it off the campus.
"Forget it Cass. Let's go."
"Another time, another time." Cassidy said before adding. "Trick."
We walked outside and got into Levi's car. He looked at me with narrowed eyes.
"What?" I asked.
"What do you mean what? Look at what you're wearing." He said. "No wonder Mom wanted me to go with y'all."
I rolled my eyes. "Just drive."
Hailey turned around in her seat. "Don't mind him. Y'all look sexy."
"Don't encourage them." Levi told her.
"Boy bye. I don't need any encouragement. I know I look sexy but thanks Hailey. You do too." Cassidy said.
We drove to Sabor, the club we came to a while back. The same club Jayce got angry at me for dancing. Chance didn't mind it. He actually loved and enjoyed it and so did the rest of my audience.
I promised myself I wouldn't do that tonight. I would dance but I wouldn't draw attention to myself again. I just wanted a fun night out with my friends.
Levi parked and we stepped out. Anthony was already at the front of line with his girlfriend so we didn't have to wait. We walked inside and instantly you could feel the heat.
We walked farther inside to find a table. We came across one in back middle of the room. We sat down and Levi immediately ordered drinks for us. I was underage but they didn't card us.
"After this drink, we have to dance." Cassidy told us.
"We have to wait for Nolan and Jayce. They should be on their way."
"Fuck them. They can find me on the dancefloor."
I looked at Levi. "Let her dance. It'll be better for everybody."
Our drinks came some minutes later and Levi paid.
"This is the only time I'm paying." Levi announced.
"That's fine. I got next round." Anthony said.
I grabbed my drink and took a sip of it. I wasn't going to get drunk for two reasons. One, I had to drive us back to the campus and two I acted completely stupid when I got wasted.
Chance arrived when they finished their drinks and I was taking my third sip. So twenty seconds later.
I didn't know how they would react seeing him. Levi was pissed that he had me on his list but he let it slide when Rhesa passed. To my surprise, they greeted them like anyone else they talked to.
Maybe they could be friends after all.
Chance sat beside me. "Thanks for inviting me."
"No problem."
"Is this everyone?"
I shook my head. "Nolan and Jayce should be here now."
"Are you going to talk to him?"
I shrugged. "Honestly I don't know."
"I think you should."
"Cole!"
I looked at Cassidy and she was standing up with Hailey and Sabrina.
"We're gonna dance. C'mon."
I glanced at Chance. "I'll think about it." I told him before getting up.
I grabbed Cassidy's outstretched hand and she led me to the dancefloor. We didn't do anything to wild. Just some hip bumps here and there along with our arms in the air moving our hips to the beat.
Until Cassidy turned around and started twerking on me. Hailey pretend to make money rain over Cass.
"Get it girl!"
We danced for three songs before we headed back to where to guys were. We sat down and that's when I noticed Nolan and Jayce.
Jayce and I made eye contact and I could feel Chance's eyes on me, urging me to take the first step. But I couldn't do it.
I looked away and glanced at Cassidy sitting in Nolan's lap.
"Does anyone else want a drink?" Sabrina asked.
"Yeah. I could do for another one." Levi said.
"I need to start my first one." Nolan replied.
"Let's just assume everyone wants one." Hailey said. "Who wants to go get it?"
I stood up, quickly. "I'll go."
After telling me what they wanted, I headed to the bar. I pushed by sweated bodies to make it to the blue cool bar. I waved my arm and one of the bartenders came to me.
I told him what I wanted and waited for him to make our drinks. No one gave me their card or money so I was assuming I was paying for it.
It took him a while to finished making eight drinks, not including myself. I paid and he handed me the black tray.
I was heading back to the table when a dark skinned girl with box braids approached me. She had on a yellow outfit and her make up was bright. She look amazing but I didn't know why she came up to me.
I was going to complement her but she spoke before I could.
"I was wondering when I would see your face again."
"Um, do I know you?" I asked.
"Everybody knows me. I'm Quinvainia. Q for short."
Well apparently not everybody knew you if you had to tell me your name. I thought to myself.
"Well it's nice to meet you Quinvainia. I'm Cole."
"That was quite a show you put on for everyone last time we were here."
I knew she referring to the last time I drew attention to myself. I honestly wasn't trying to. I just wanted to dance and it felt so good doing so. I didn't see why my mom hated it so.
"Yeah. It wasn't anything special."
She scoffed."Clearly. How about I show you what an actually show it is?"
She wanted to have a dance battle but I promised myself I wouldn't do anything to put a spotlight on me. I was just here for fun.
"No. Not tonight. I just came to have a good time with my friends."
"What are you scared you're gonna get upstaged?" She questioned with a smirk.
"No. I really just want to have fun tonight. No show." I tried again but she wasn't having it.
"I think you rehearsed that routine for weeks. It looked sloppy and show what kind of dancer you really are or not."
I was just going to walk away but she offended me and my dancing. And I didn't take that very lightly.
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me. You're scared and you should be. I'm the best you will ever see."
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Hey, Cole. What's taking so long with drinks?" Cassidy came beside me.
"Oh look. Back up came." Quinvainia said.
"Who's this?"
"Quinvainia." I informed Cass. "She said I couldn't dance but I'm going to proof her wrong."
Quinvainia arched an eyebrow. "Challenged accepted?"
"Oh. You're so on. Let's see what you do."
I handed Cassidy the tray and followed Quinvainia to the middle of the dancefloor. She twirled her hand in the air and that was a signal for the DJ to stop everything.
"Hold on..wait a minute." He spoke in the mic. "I think we have a dance battle, is that right Q?"
"Hell yeah it is." She confirmed.
Someone grabbed my arm and I glanced back to see Levi and the rest of my friends standing behind me.
"What are you doing?"
"Having a dance battle." I said.
"Oh does Miss I think I can dance need back-up dancers?" Q said.
"Uh, no. Miss gonna whoop your ass doesn't need anyone. She's can handle her own." Cassidy said.
Q crossed her arms. "We'll see about that."
"We will." I agreed.
"Alright y'all. Y'all heard it for yourself. Dance battle is starting." DJ whatever said. "Q you up first?"
"You know it. Play me my track."
The music started and Q attacked from the very beginning. There was nothing soft about her dance moves. Everything went hard. I knew and everyone else knew she was a street dancer. She was a very good dancer but I couldn't show her that I was intimidated by her.
Her dance moves could eat anyone or thing alive. She was straight killing it and her song with well with what she was saying.
Oo yah yah Back off of me...
The music went off and the crowd went wild for her, chanting her name over and over again.
"Cole, don't do it." Levi told me.
"Thanks for having so much faith in me." I said, sarcastically.
"That's not what I meant."
"I know but I have to. I can't back out now." I said.
The crowd started to quiet down when Q appeared in my view. She was smirking as if I couldn't handle her. She thought I would back down and declare her the best dancer ever but I wasn't.
She wanted this battle so who was I to not give it to her. I stepped closer and DJ spoke again.
"Any request?"
I shook my head. "I can dance to anything. I don't need a track."
"Alright then." He said. "Here you go."
As soon as I heard the music, I immediately knew what it was and I smiled. This song went perfectly. When the guy on the song said "Go!" I started dancing.
It was a completely different dance style from Q's but it still send the same message.
Don't mess with me.
I started off slow and then my movements got faster. I could hear Cass cheer for me from behind me.
"Go, best friend! You better get it, girl!"
But when one part of the lyrics appeared, the whole crowd started cheering for me.
Showing you up like I knew that I would.
I did a death drop and quickly got up and moved closer to Q dancing. I did a front walk over and when I had a feeling the music was about to end I did a split right in front of her and grinned.
Which probably wasn't the smartest move to do but hey I couldn't take it back now.
She didn't look too happy but that's okay. I got up and Cass and Hailey ran up on me, shocked.
"Oh my gosh! Cole! That was crazy." Hailey said.
"That death drop though." Cass praised.
Q rolled her eyes. "It wasn't all that."
"I'm sorry you're bitter and can't help the fact that you lost." Cass told her.
Levi came beside me. "Cole, you're amazing. I can't believe you did that."
"Yeah you were incredible." Chance commented.
Anthony, Sabrina and Nolan told me how great I was. I was hoping Jayce would say something but he didn't.
"Like I said you weren't all that." Q said, gaining my attention again.
"Why can't you just say I was great and move on?" I asked.
"Cause you weren't great." She said, stepping closer.
"Back up." Levi warned.
"Aye, don't talk to my girl." One of Q's friends said.
"Well tell your girl to back up and leave my sister alone."
"Oh so now we have a problem." Some random guy said from Q's side.
"There never was a problem." I said. "And I'm done with this."
I was walking away when Q grabbed my arm, stopping.
"Hey don't touch my friend." Cass said, yanking Q's hand off me.
And that's when everything went downhill. Q's boyfriend called Cass a bitch and Nolan had something to say about that. For every action they was a reaction. Hailey and I tried to break it up but it was too late.
When I got thrown to the ground, Jayce punched without giving it a second thought and the rest joined in. Hailey helped me up and everyone was fighting somebody. Cass had Q by her braids and was punching her in her face.
The guys were fighting whoever was Q's friends and Sabrina was standing beside me.
I was about to yell for them to stop but by the time I opened my mouth, the cops arrived.
