Chapter One Party Crasher
Present Time....
"I can't believe you're making me do this" I told my friend I have known since fifth grade, Cassidy.
"I can't believe you do not want to do this." She said before she thought about what she said. "Actually. I take that back. It's you. Little Miss. Perfect. Too good to live a normal college life."
I had nothing to say because she was right, not about the perfect part but about everything else. I mean I've done stupid things in my life but it's nothing compared to my friends. When we entered high school, things went left. Cassidy and her boyfriend, Nolan, took their relationship to the next level. Cassidy was so happy when she lost her virginity to him. She came over to my house the next day and relived the whole moment for me.
There was always so type of party to hit up and I never went. My excuse was always the same, I have to study. I never really exprienced the whole high school life but I didn't really care. My parents were happy for me and that's all that matters.
I know they wanted at least one of their children to not be such a disappointment. I guess that's why I never really lived because I didn't want to disappoint them.
Levi, my older brother, he got caught drunk coming home in the middle of the night and I tried to hide it from our parents but they found out and they were more disappointed than angry. Hunter, my eldest bother, he was always with different girls every week and our mom wanted him to settle down but of course he never listened.
"We better go before I change my mind." I said, grabbing my phone as I walked out our dorm room.
I heard her follow me and we climbed into her silver Honda Civic. The party wasn't far because it was held at the frat house. The boys wanted to throw a party before college officially started. But it wasn't like they needed a reason to throw a party.
Cassidy parked her car and we climbed out. We followed everyone heading into the house. The music could be heard outside and I could already tell I wouldn't be staying here for very long.
We squeezed by people as we head inside. Red solo cups was seen everywhere and half naked college kids ran wildly throughout the house.
"Nolan said they're in the kitchen." Cassidy informed me.
I nodded my head telling her I heard her over the loud music. We found the kitchen and sure enough Nolan was it there along with my brother.
"Cole!" Levi said, surprised. "You made it!"
"I can't believe you're at a party. A college party to be exact." Nolan said, bringing his pink colored drink to his lips.
"Yeah what would our dear mother say if she ever finds out." Levi said, smiling. "She'll probably say 'oh my little baby. She's fallen to the dark side. Oh dear Lord bring her back to the light." He reacted sarcastically."Then she would faint into Dad's arms."
I crossed my arms. "And you aren't going to tell her." I warned him. Then I paused before saying in a small voice "Are you?"
Levi slung an arm around my shoulders bringing me closer to him. "Now why would I want to get my little sister in trouble?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe for revenge." I suggested.
"As much as I would like to see Mom's face if she finds out, I don't want you to be in the same boat as Hunter and I." Levi told me as he dropped his arm.
"Aww." I pinched his cheek. "Who knew you had a nice side?"
He pulled away from me. "Stop doing that.
And I'm not a total bad guy. Why else do you think I manage to pull the hottest girl walking Earth?"
I rolled my eyes. "Hailey probably felt bad for you."
"Where is she, anyway?" Cassidy asked. "I haven't seen her lately."
"She's babysitting her bother until her parents gets back." Levi informed us. "She'll be here in two hours or so."
"While we wait for her, let's have some fun." Nolan said, grabbing Cassidy's hand.
We moved out the kitchen to, what I think was, the dinning room. Nolan and Levi cleared the messy table and began to set up a game. There was four red cups on the outside and one red cup in the middle of the four. Nolan pulled out a ping pong from his pocket and smiled.
"Who wants to have fun?" He said, holding up the little white ball.
"Let's make it interesting this time." Cassidy said. "Let's make a bet."
Levi grinned. "My money is on Mulatto."
"Same." Nolan agreed. "Let's see how far she can go."
I frowned. I didn't know what was going on or what game we were playing. As soon as I thought that, Levi clasped my shoulder.
"Let's see if you can keep up"
I crossed my arms. "I'm not playing so you can't bet on me."
"Aww," Cassidy groaned. "Come on Cole."
I shook my head. "You might have got me to come here but I'm not drinking. I have to wake up early and so do you." I reminded her.
She rolled her eyes. "What's the point of coming to a party, if you're not gonna have fun? We won't get you drunk, I promise."
"Cole. You're in college. You can loosen up a bit." Levi told me. "Play at least three rounds."
They kept staring at me and I couldn't handle it. I threw my arms up. "Okay fine. Three rounds and that's it."
"That's the spirit." Cassidy said, smiling.
Nolan filled four cups up a little over halfway and the middle cup to the very top with some type of beer.
I eyed the cups. "What game are we playing?"
"Chandelier." Nolan said. "It's a mixture of beer pong and flip cup."
I heard of those games but I wasn't familiar with the rules. They probably could tell I was still confused because Levi began to explain how the game worked.
"Okay, so let's say, I start off with the ball" He grabbed the ping pong from Nolan. "My goal is to make the ball into a cup that's not mine. If I make it into Cassidy's cup then she has the chug her whole cup but if I make it into the middle cup, everyone has to chug their cup. Once you're finish your drink you have to flip it over on the table. The last person to do so, has to chug the middle cup."
I nodded my head. "Okay I got it. But what happens if I bounce the ball into my own cup? Do I have the drink?"
"Yep. So I advice you not to aim for your own cup." Levi said. "Alright, let's begin. Cassidy you're first." He tossed the ball to her and she smirked.
"It's only fair to warn you guys, I'm a pro at this game."
Levi folded his arms over his chest and amusement shone through his brown eyes. "We'll see about that."
Cassidy picked her target and bounced the ball right into Nolan's cup.
"Babe!" He exclaimed. "I thought we were on the same team."
She shrugged. "I can't have favorites. Now drink up."
He muttered something before chugging his drink. Levi refilled it and Nolan went.
By the time, I drunk four drinks, including the middle cup, I knew I was their target. It wasn't accidentally or faith that everytime, Levi, Cassidy and Nolan bounced the ball it landed in my cup majority of the time. But I couldn't say anything. My head was spinning and I didn't know how much longer I could take this before I pass out or worse.
"Cole it's your turn." Nolan handed me the ball.
I blinked a couple of times before focusing on what I thought was a cup. My vision was blurred and I was seeing double.
I began to laugh. "Levi, you have two heads. Ha! Ha!" I pointed at him. "Four eyes! You have four eyes!"
Levi chuckled. "Okay, Cole. I have four eyes."
"I don't think she should play anymore. What if she takes someone's eye out. She already thinks you have four eyes. Do you really want to risk losing an eye?" Nolan said.
Levi didn't say anything for a second.
"You're right. Cassidy get the ball from her."
Cassidy, I was assumimg, tried to take the little ball from my hand but I was faster. I moved it from her reached and pushed her face back with my other hand.
"Ahh. You little-" Cassidy started but a new voice joined our group.
"The fun has arrived!" He yelled, no doubt smiling.
I recongized that voice even if I was drunk. He was here. I felt rage shoot through my veins and I faced the direction his voice was coming from.
I narrowed my eyes as his blue eyes landed on me. He stared at me for what seemed like forever but mere seconds before Nolan greeted him. I broke my eyes from him.
It has been a month since, I last seen or talked to him. I thought about this moment for awhile. I thought about what I would say to him or if I would say anything to him. I thought about what my feelings would be towards him and what he would say to me. But I didn't say anything to him. I just felt angry.
Cassidy knew about Jayce and I. I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan knew about it, too.
"Jayce, man, how's it going?" Levi asked as he did this handshake every guy seem to know.
"It's going." Jayce replied. "I'm starting to like college life. Parties everywhere, late night clubs, hot girls every which way. What more can I ask for?"
I snorted. A little too loudly for my likings. Jayce turned his head to look at me.
"It's there a problem, Colby."
"Oh we're back to full name base now, Jayceon." I said, smiling.
His lip twitched. He hated being called by his full name, as much as I do. Levi glanced between us, confused.
"Did I miss something here?" He pointed at both of us. "You two are best friends, why are you guys shooting daggers at each other?"
"We used to be best friend." Jayce corrected.
"Yeah once upon a time ago." I added. I didn't feel like staying here so I look at Cassidy. "You wanna dance?"
She looked at Nolan then back at me. "Yeah, let's go."
She grabbed my arm and we headed to were the rest of the college kids were dancing. I didn't know if it was because of the liquor invading my blood or if I really wanted to dance but whatever the reason is, I danced my ass off.
During my wild dancing, some guy snaked his arms around my waist and we danced together. He pulled me closer to his body and I didn't mind until he started grinding on.
"Okay. You're taking it too far." I told him, pulling my body from him.
"Come on." He said. "We're just dancing. Nothing more."
I looked for Cassidy and I couldn't find her. She probably went back with Nolan.
"No. I have to find my friend."
"She can take care of herself." He agrued.
"You don't understand."
"No you don't understand." He growled. "You're on every guy's-"
He was yanked away from me before he could finish his sentence. I didn't like the guy very much but I was interested in what he was about to say. I'm on every guy's what?
"Chance. I thought I told you to leave her alone. She's off limits." My brother, Levi, told him. "Do I need to tell you a different way to make you understand?" He cracked his knuckles.
Chance shook his head.
"Good. Stay away from her. Last warning."
Chance looked at Levi before walking away. Levi faced me.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded. "I'm fine."
He grabbed my hand and we head back into the kitchen.
"There you are!" Cassidy exclaimed once she saw me. "You disappeared on me. One second you're beside me the next you're gone."
"I found her with Chance." Levi said.
Jayce pushed himself off the wall and stood straight up. His blue eyes went dark.
"She was with Chance Kenning?"
"Yeah but he didn't hurt her or anything. He knows otherwise." Levi told him.
In two long strides, Jayce was standing in front of me.
"Come with me." He said.
I crossed my arms. "No. Why?"
"Would you stop being stubborn and just come with me?"
Rolling my eyes, I followed him around the corner. My back is against the wall and he stood in front of me.
"What do you want?"
"We need to talk."
I laughed without humor. "After a month of not talking to each other, now you want to talk. You left me standing in freezing rain, confused. What could you possible have to say?"
"It's not about that."
"Then what's it about?"
"Chance." He said. "What did he tell you?"
"He didn't tell me anything." I replied. "And if he did what's it to you?"
"Colby. I'm being dead serious. Did he tell you anything?" He shook his head. "Nevermind, if he did, you would be hitting me right now."
"He doesn't have to give me a reason to."
He chuckled. "Feisty. Aren't we?"
"I wonder why?" I said, sarcastically. "Now if we're done 'talking', I'm leaving."
He reached out and grabbed my arms.
"Let go of me."
"Wait. Don't walk away from me."
"Don't tell me what to do." I said, angrily.
"Stop acting childish."
"Childish? You're the one who was acting childish a month ago."
"Stop bringing that day up. It's in the past."
I rose an eyebrow. "It is? Because I feel like it still here."
"Well yeah. You keep bringing it up."
I scoffed. "Whatever. Let me go."
And that was how we started agruing in the hallway at a party. Hateful words were being threw left and right. We stood in each other face, yelling.
The next thing I know, I'm getting pulled away from by my dear friend, Cassidy and Nolan grabbed Jayce trying to break up our heated argument.
"Okay. Time to go." Cassidy told me, yanking me towards the door as an audience began to form.
"Ever heard of get over of it!" Jayce shouted.
"Ever heard of shut the hell up!" I shot back.
Jayce flipped me off and I narrowed my eyes.
My first time going to a party and it was ruined. All thanks to my ex best friend, Jayceon Ryder the Party Crasher.
