This chapter is quite short but anyways... Enjoy.

********

I didn't know how I had not heard the three screams of my name by my mum and how I had not even heard my door open but that was the power of sleep.

It had enclosed me and held me under it's spell and I was basically trapped in it. It still shocked me that I had not heard my name or even woken from my sleep.

But all I knew was that the slap that woke me up from my short sleep was enough to wake the dead. I jumped from my bed, rubbing my back that was hurting from the slap and saw my very angry mum staring at me.

Immediately I  laid my eyes upon her, her blazing eyes slowly faded and took upon them the kind, motherly ones as I blinked my eyes at her, rubbing my very much awake eyes.

It was always said that the way I was woken up was never the best way to wake a person and considering the fact that I was a child, no...teenager, It wasn't meant to be that way.

My thoughts quickly found their place in my heart again, quieting down as I came back to realty and turned my fully awake self to my mum.

She was trying to keep a hard front but was failing badly as her conscience pricked her for waking me up in that way. I held in a smile, at least she still cared about me and she looked sorry.

She snapped her fingers in my face and I clearly took in what I was even seeing. She was already dressed and prepared for work, her grey-ash suit looking neatly ironed and new. Well...they were new cos I hadn't seen them before.

"Itunu this is 10 minutes to 6 Baba will soon be here!" She paused for a beat, looking at me. "Go and prepare be fast."

I shook my head, there was no even 'sorry for waking you up that way...but you sef when someone will be calling you and you will not answer...' and all the other things she'd say that'll make you even forget she said sorry in the first place.

It was just prepare and hurry up.

As if replying to my shaked head, her face scrunched up in disgust, the once almost sympathetic face dissolving.

"Why are you shaking your head? You will be waking up late everyday... "Wó" (see) She flashed her chain wrist watch at me, "-time has gone so be fast."

She left my room and I hurriedly said a prayer to God thanking him for the breath of life once again.

In exactly 2 minutes to 6, I was almost done, when I heard a scream from down stairs. My sixth senses heightened and  blared loud in my ears as I threw my bag to the ground, and found my way down the stairs. Something was terribly wrong.

My heart slammed against my ribs so hard I thought they would crack as I failingly tried to keep calm. I found myself speeding up as I beelined towards the kitchen.

What greeted my line of vision as I walked into the kitchen practically made my fears soar like an eagle and increased the speed of my racing chest.

Fear choked me, practically knocking the air out of me as I slammed my hand to my chest to stop what I was feeling in me. My heart was racing non stop and my stomach was hurting.

I saw my mum on the ground, her phone in clasp, her mouth open, she was in shock and my eyes twitched when I saw tears drop from her eyes. "No...no." She kept muttering.

The tears didn't wait any longer before they found their way to my eyes and I don't know how I did it but immediately they came, I blinked them back, really fast.

"Mommy what happened?" I let out, I was shaking as she slowly looked up, and it was as if my legs couldn't carry my body any longer.

Her eyes were red as she shook her head once more. Slowly her muttering came to a stop and her heaving chest calmed down.

I couldn't explain what I felt then. A slight wave of relief rushed over me until I shook her.

I shook her lightly first but due to her lack of movement, my touch became rougher and my shaking more violent. "Mummy!" My eyes clouded with tears and the image of my unconscious mother beneath me.

Then and there, the fear got to me, pushing me to the edge and I dropped to my knees beside her unconscious self, my knees oblivious to the pain of the hard contact with the ground.

I shook her once more, directing all the energy in my body to my hands and shaking her harder.

"Lois!" A voice called out from behind me, I spun around and my eyes widened immediately.

Jesus!
