Trust issues
A few days after Zarkon found out that Thace and Elara had a fling, he was acting strange. Elara noticed but chose to stay quiet about it, not wanting to start a problem. Zarkon seemed to lose some trust in her. He was questioning if he should trust at all after she kept her fling a secret. She kept it from him for his own but he didn't look at it that way.
He's been a tad bit distant. He would space out sometimes when she tried to talk to him. He would have his back to her at night which hurt her a lot. It was night time and she couldn't sleep and he didn't want to talk to her. Normally, he'd stay awake until she fell asleep to make sure she got some shut eye. Not this time.
She just stared at the ceiling since Zarkon wasn't ever facing her, he wasn't even touching her. She couldn't take the silence and went to use the bathroom, but she actually wanted to cry alone.
"Where are you going?" She suddenly heard Zarkon ask.
"I just need to use the bathroom, go to sleep I'm fine." She said.
"I'm not tired." He said in a passive aggressive tone.
"I just think that you're losing interest in me yet again." Elara said sadly.
"Not interest. Trust." Zarkon corrected.
"Trust?" She muttered.
"You lied to me. The secret was major. I never had a fling during our divorce but you did." Zarkon said bitterly.
"Zarkon it was one night and two months after we divorced. I was hurt, alone, and vulnerable." Elara said with a sigh.
"So was I Elara! So was I!" Zarkon snapped.
Elara finally snapped.
"Bullshit! You're the one who brought all that loneliness, depression, and vulnerability! All of what happened is because you couldn't man up and be there for me when I was in unimaginable pain because of you! You had the audacity to reject not one but two daughters and you're once again be a toxic waste of oxygen!" She raged.
"At the end of the damn forsaken day you were the one who lied, deceived, and clearly had no intention of telling the truth!" Zarkon yelled.
"Well I did it because this would happen, but what do you Thace had to run his damn mouth and look where we're at!" Elara said in a fury.
"Well I'm glad he did because I don't think I want a wife that lies to me!" Zarkon finally snapped.
She was silent and stared at him.
"I don't think I want a husband who hates me for something I did during our divorce." She muttered and stormed out to sleep in a spare bedroom.
Trust issues consumed their marriage little by little, Zarkon wasn't sure if their marriage would work and Elara didn't know if she could handle his rage anymore.
