Rejection
It was the middle of the next day and Elara and Delilah were in their own bedroom resting, Elara was kept all night long. Delilah was very tiny, she was born a whole month early and was just recently allowed out if the incubator last week. Zarkon's rejection of her made his life hell, he couldn't get anywhere near the infant or Elara or else she'd try to go at him.
Galran instincts are solely based of family relationships and there was none for Zarkon and Delilah, meaning Zarkon and Elara's relationship was more fragile than the thinnest shard of glass, because of her maternal instinct.
That night Zarkon risked it all and entered Elara's separate bedroom to talk. Once he stepped a single foot in the room, he could nose and ears twitching as she woke up with narrowed pupils.
"Relax." He sighed.
"I don't think so." She hissed.
"Woman why are you so cold?" He huffed.
"Oh I don't know... Maybe because while I was unconscious, you, a grown man who is also already a father, rejected your own daughter, refused to take care of her, and blame her for something that is not her fault." Elara said.
"I'm sorry alright?" He said.
"You're only sorry because you're losing me. You're not sorry to her. I don't care for your apologies. An apology can't change what you did to her." Elara said, glaring at him.
"Elara listen-"
"I'm not listening to anything that seems out of your narcissistic mouth Zarkon. Because of your bitter remarks and demeanor of neglect towards MY newborn child, what we once had is gone, you've slipped up horribly, now pay the price." Elara growled and held Delilah close.
Zarkon snapped at that point. He lost every fiber of remorse.
"You know what. Deal with the rat on your own. Leave if you want to, I don't care. That damn baby tore everything, including us apart. She's your burden not mine!" He raged.
"She's not a burden! The only burden here is you and your neglect!" Elara growled.
"Shut up already! All you do is whine and complain!" Zarkon snarled.
"Then that makes two of us." She hissed.
Zarkon completely changed. He hated her guts. He was fighting the urge to hurt her right there and then. As he was about to leave the room Elara did something that may have worsened it all.
"Take this with you." She said and hurled her wedding ring at him, when he caught he glared at her with nothing but resent.
"I figured you might want it back." She said bitterly.
He crushed it in his bare hands and dropped the broken pieces where he stood. Elara's heart shattered with the ring. She didn't want to cry in front of him and just stared at him completely emotionless. He left the room and he his love for her behind too when he did. Everything was ruined.
