Enemies

It had been a while since there was a gathering and then Alfor once again stepped up and had a little shindig on Altea. Everything was fine until Honerva started saying some particularly hurtful and offensive right to Elara's face. Honerva had a 17 year old, full Altean son named Lotarius and he was mortified by his mother's words.

"It's always the women like you who feel the need to bring everyone down." Elara huffed in a calm tone.

"Well I just don't feel the need to be fake with you anymore!" Honerva snapped.

"What did I ever do to you? We don't even talk." Elara asked.

"What you did to me is exist." Honerva scoffed.

"Alright? That gives you absolutely no reason to just attack me like this." Elara said sternly.

"Oh dear the mere sight of you irks me!" Honerva hissed.

"Now I see your problem... You're a sad, depressed, jealous, and miserable soul." Elara said.

"Jealous of what?!" Honerva snapped.

"Well, I have a comfy home, a good friend group, a caring husband, and a lovely family. You on the other hand have one son who is clearly embarrassed by you and his father was a deadbeat." Elara said.

"I'm angry because I truly feel sorry for your dear soulmate!" Honerva snickered.

"And why is that?" Elara sked, now growing very angry.

"Well your old now, your never making any effort to be affectionate whatsoever, you're always working and never with him, and lastly..." Honerva said grinning sinisterly.

"Mother no!" Lotarius interjected.

"Quiet boy!" She snapped.

"Honerva that's enough." Alfor commanded.

"You're weak... You could have had nine children if you hadn't failed two of them... One murdered and the other naturally aborted against your own will, If you think about it they perished the same way. They were saved the pain of having a mother like you." Honerva taunted.

Everyone gasped in disgust at Honerva's comment. Elara had silently gasped and went dead silent. The memories of her two miscarriages flashed before her eyes.

"Alright that's enough! Lotarius you're more than welcome to stay in the palace, clearly your mother is not mentally stable." Melenor said and called over some guards to give Honerva the boot.

Zarkon was just as shocked but nonetheless gave Honerva a threatening glare. His eyes spoke for him.

"Mother we should go home now." Bellatrix said, grabbing her mother's hand to somewhat soothe her.

"Elara she's right, we need to get you out of here." Zarkon said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

She couldn't speak and just nodded. As she and the rest of family were leaving. Zarkon turned to Alfor and wasn't at all happy.

"Alfor keep that hag the hell away from me, my wife, children, and Daibazaal in general. If I ever see her again it will be on sight." Zarkon growled.

"She's not going to be of any nuisance to anyone. She'll be in a cell for the rest of her life just for that." Alfor said.

"Get her home and give her time off Zarkon. The poor woman is traumatized all over again." Melenor said sadly.

Zarkon nodded and turned his gaze to Lotarius.

"I'm sorry about all that... My mother has never been a kind soul." Lotarius said sadly.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. You aren't the problem. Your mother is the problem. None of us have anything against you." Zarkon said and soon left with his family.

Once on the ship he and Elara went straight to their bedroom. She was emotionally crumbling at the memory of losing two of her babies.

Before she lost hours of sleep. Every time she shut her eyes she would see the flashes of the moments she lost her first child and then the moments she heard silence instead of a heartbeat in her second miscarriage. Zarkon did everything he could to comfort her but the damage that was done her was almost irreparable.
