I could hear him yelling as my body slammed into the freezing cold water. I kicked my legs, water rushing down my throat from the force of the impact. I tried flailing my arms, trying anything to get myself up towards the surface. We didn't have access to bodies of water on Wellis. I couldn't swim. My limbs were flailing as I tried to grip onto anything, but all my fingers could grasp was more and more of the freezing cold water.
I felt a firm grip wrap onto my arm before finding its way around my waist. I felt the electric shocks shoot through my body at the contact. Now is not the time.
My head suddenly broke the surface and without thinking I wrapped my arms around his neck holding myself impossibly closer. I could hear him muttering curses as he pushes us closer to the cliffside.
There was no edge for us to get up. His fingers dug into my waist as I felt a weird and unusual feeling wash over my body. Maybe the cold was starting to get to me.
One second, he was moving in the water, the next he was on top of me on the grass back up on the cliff.
I quickly turned on my side, his body was still pressed against mine as I coughed up water into the grass. I felt his hand running up and down my back as I wheezed for air.
"Why the fuck did you do that?" His voice guttural and vicious as his silver eyes seemed to almost turn molten.
"I-I... You think I did that on purpose?!" I snapped at him.
"You were trying to get away from me." His face was so close to mine, I could feel his breath on my face.
Before I could react, he was on his knees and threw my body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes before standing up and walking back into the woods. In the direction I ran from.
"Theo!" I snapped and started thrashing, trying to get out of his grip. I froze when a sharp sting from his hand connected with the back of my thigh.
"Asshole." I muttered letting myself dangle across his shoulders. He would have to put me down eventually.
I heard a door shove open, slamming against the wall. We were back in that house I had escaped from.
"You will apologize to Willow, she did nothing wrong and didn't deserve that." His voice gravelly and harsh.
"I-It was an accident." I whispered. "But if anything, it's your fault."
He placed me down on the floor so fast my head spun, and I thought I was going to fall over.
He just stared down at me, his eyes filled with rage.
"You left me here, somewhere unfamiliar with a stranger who was using magic to trap me. " I didn't want to look up and meet his eyes. "I was just scared and angry and needed to be out of this house." I mumbled.
"I won't apologize for keeping you alive." He snapped. "You may not agree with my choices, but I do not have regrets about what I did."
"Theron?" I jumped at Willow's voice. "Oh thank the gods you are both alright." Her hair was messy, but she seemed fine.
"Willow." He smiled softly stepping away from me and pulling her into a hug. "Thank you for staying with her, but I think we need some time to talk. Why don't you go and head home?" She nodded and waved to me before skipping over to the door and leaving.
"Go sit." He sighed rubbing his temples.
"No."
"Eleia."
"No!" I snapped.
His eye shot up to mine and before I could react his hands were on my waist, and he dropped me on the bed. He kneeled down in front of me, his body wedged between my legs as his eyes pierced mine.
"Ask." His eyes were a molten silver as they never wavered from mine.
"What do you need me for?" I whispered, trying to scoot away from him, but it wasn't working.
"To bring my brother back."
"You told me that already, but why me?"
He finally looked away from my eyes, his jaw tense. He didn't want to tell me.
"I don't trust you anymore." I whispered to him.
"I know."
"Then tell me everything." I snapped at him getting increasingly frustrated. "If you want me to willingly help with anything ever again, I need to know."
"You are here, so I have more time to find other ways." His voice low.
"What were you going to do with me?" I pushed again.
"You can travel through other worlds, create them." He spoke. "I was going to trade you for him."
Oh.
It shouldn't hurt. This isn't new. It shouldn't fucking hurt.
"To who?" I asked.
"Eleia."
"To who!"
"Death." To death?
"You are going to kill me?" I whispered, meeting his eyes.
"Not anymore. But originally yes." I was going to be sick.
I pushed past him and rushed into the bathroom I sank to my knees and emptied the contents of my stomach into the toilet.
I felt his presence behind me but he didn't dare touch me.
I took a deep shaky breath and squeezed my eyes shut as I tried to get myself together.
"For how long?" I breathed. "When did you change your mind?"
''That day I found you in the alley." He whispered. "Thats when I realized you were going to be more difficult to get rid of. When I saw you in that silver dress back in the manor I knew for certain that I needed you and not to get my brother back. I needed you for me." I didn't want to believe him.
"You are just saying that." I whispered. "You are going to kill me still."
"Eleia." He snapped stepping closer.
"Just go." I sighed. "If you aren't going to let me leave, just go."
"No." He growled.
"Please." I whispered.
"Shower you are going to get sick." He spoke motioning to my soaking wet clothes. "There are dresses for you in the dressers back in the room. I will give you an hour." Before he turned on his heel and walked out of the bathroom shutting the door behind him with a soft click.
I sank to my knees and wrapped my arms around my body as silent sobs wracked through my body. I was shaking as tears ran down my cheeks and my nose began running. I quickly pushed myself up grabbing a tissue as I kept trying to calm my rapidly beating heart and shaking limbs. This was all too much. Way too much.
I glanced at the mirror seeing my reflection. I looked ugly. I was a mess and I looked exhausted. I sighed before looking away and stripping out of my soaked clothes. I stepped into the shower, the searing hot water reddening my skin, but it felt nice. I scrubbed at my skin and hair trying to erase any memories of today. My brain felt like it was going to explode.
Once I finished, I wrapped a grey fluffy towel around my body and cracked the door open. Once I made sure he wasn't there I hurried out and rushed to the dresser. I searched through the piles of dresses until I found a plain dark purple one that looked comfortable. I pulled it out and hurried back to the bathroom. The sleeves were loose and flowed down my arms. The fabric oddly resembled the feel of flower petals, it was so soft.
I dug through the drawers until I found a hairbrush. I quickly ran it through my tangled and messy hair before taking another deep breath. I put everything away and walked out in the room. I jumped when I saw him sitting on the bed. His eyes raked over my body in the dress before he stood up to his annoyingly intimidating height. He stood up and immediately took long strides towards me, he stopped when he was directly in front of me.
"What can do to make you trust me again?" He asked as he stared down at me.
"I don't know if I will." I whispered. "But it will help if you involve me in everything, share everything with me. Not killing me would also help." I laughed but it was humorless. His eyes darkened.
"I told you I won't let anything happen to you."
"But then you also told me you were planning on killing me the whole time, so sorry if I don't believe that."
His fists clenched as his side before he ran one through his dark strands.
"Okay." He sighed. "I will bring you with me...if it is safe." That is progress at least.
"I don't care if it is safe or not, I will go with you if it has anything to do with this." His eyes hardened as they pierced through me.
"No." He growled.
"Then how can you expect me to trust you!" I raised my hands in the air frustrated with him, with this whole fucking situation.
"Fine." He ground between his teeth.
"I have been looking into a relic." He whispered. "It should be an alternative way to bring him back."
"Let's go get it then." I told him, ready to leave this place. He looked at me like I had five heads.
"No." He snapped. "You think something that powerful, will just be easily accessible? That we can just walk in and fucking take it?"
"Well when you put it that way--" I whispered feeling stupid.
"I have books here, that you can go through. I need to go question someone." I just shook my head to that.
"I'm coming with you." I told him. "I'm not going to stay here and feel like a prisoner." He looked like he wanted to throw me out the window. He suddenly stepped closer, so close I could feel the heat emanating from his body.
"Then we do it my way. Do you understand?" He whispered. "You do not speak, you do not ask questions, you do not stop me."
I glared up at him, knowing damn well I was going to ignore those rules.
"I understand."
"If you break those rules, I will not bring you with me anywhere and you can stay here hating me for the rest of your life." I looked up at him in disbelief.
"You wouldn't do that."
"Do you want to test that theory?" Fuck him. "Let's go." He snapped. I nearly choked on the air when he reached over my head and grabbed a cloak from behind me, draping it over my shoulders and clipping it in the front so it would stay.
I knew my face had to be the shade of a tomato. Why did my body have to react like this? He was an asshole.
-------
He grabbed my hand, and I watched as our surroundings changed and morphed into something completely different in blurs and swirls of color. We were in a place that weirdly resembled the prison I had met him in.
"Where are we?" I whispered to him. He just reached behind me pulling the black hood of the cloak over my head, concealing my identity. He did the same with his only leaving the smirk of his lips visible.
"Let's go." He snapped gripping my wrist and pulling alongside him. I tried to yank my arm away, but he only tightened his grip.
"Are we in the prison?" I whisper shouted at him.
"Yes." He quipped pulling out a dagger from one of his sheaths and passing it to me. I gripped the cold hilt and continued following after him.
"Why?"
"I was in that cell that day for a reason." He ground out.
"You are breaking someone out, aren't you?" I whispered.
I took his silence as a yes.
We made another turn and before I could blink, he vanished. My eyes widened when I saw him reappear down the hall behind a guard. I lifted a hand up to my mouth as I saw him drag a dagger across the man's throat.
I jumped when he appeared directly in front of me, grabbing my arm again and dragging my alongside him.
"You just--"
"You wanted to come with me." He snapped. "I warned you."
I slammed my lips shut, deciding it was probably just better not to piss him off more.
We got to the lift that I cursed out that day for bringing me the wrong direction.
The temperature dropped drastically the lower we got; we finally must have reached the end when it came to a harsh stop.
I could hear whispers. They were making my ears feel tingly and chills to run throughout my body.
He gripped my wrist again and was rushing down the hallway until we reached a cell carved into the stone walls of the cave.
"About fucking time." I heard a deep voice snap on the other side of the cell. It was too dark to see the man. I watched with wide eyes as Theo pulled apart the metal bars of the cell door, the pieces hitting against the ground created an eerie echo.
The whispers grew louder with each piece that fell. I turned around and looked behind us, scared that there were people there but it was too dark.
Why was it so dark here?
I turned back to see Theo entering the cell. I followed after him, but when I reached the doorframe, the whispers turned to screams making me drop down to my knees, raising my hands to my ears. My hands felt sticky, what the hell?
I pulled them away from my ears to see them covered in red. Blood.
Before I could blink Theo was back in front of me, pulling my body back up. I couldn't hear anything. Oh gods. I couldn't hear anything. His mouth was moving as his eyes darted to the blood that must have been dripping from my ears.
"What a surprise." A delicate, yet deep voice echoed through my head. "He brought me a world-walker."
I looked up with wide eyes as a disheveled man walked up behind Theo. His face was bloodied and bruised as an unusual smile made its way to his face.
"Do not be afraid, I am a friend." His voice was soft. "Your mind was just too interesting to resist." I looked up at him with wide eyes. Theo was shouting something at him as his grip tightened around him.
Before I could rethink my choices, I shot up and out of Theo's grip and charged at the man with my knife raised. I crashed into his body sending him crashing to the ground. I could hear him laughing in my head. I raised the knife ready to plunge it into his chest, when an arm snaked around my waist pulling me off of him. I thrashed until my hearing finally returned.
"Stay out of my fucking head!" I yelled as Theo finally released him.
He just gave me a wicked smile before looking at Theo.
"Well are we leaving or what?"
Theo just rolled his eyes before extending his hands to both of us. I gripped his hand while keeping my glare pinned on the irritating man.
"Together again, at last." He chuckled as our surroundings began changing, until we were back in that house.
Theo stumbled slightly as we made it back nearly crashing into to me.
"What's wrong?" I asked with wide eyes.
"Nothing." He mumbled before letting go of both of us and stepping back.
"Home sweet home." The asshole chuckled. "My sweet Eleia, my name is Lucen."
"Stay out of my head." I snapped at him, ready to end his life.
"Go shower, Lucen. You smell like shit." Theo growled out keeping his eyes on mine. Lucen cursed him out before heading into the bathroom with a grumble.
"Come on, let's clean the blood off." He sighed leading me into the small kitchen. Before I could react he lifted me up by my hips, placing me on the counter next to the sink. He grabbed a towel running it under the water before bringing it up to my jaw.
"I can do it." I mumbled.
"I know."
"I don't like him." I whispered to him.
"I know."
I glared at him earning a smirk.
"How did he do that?" I whispered to him. "Get into my head and take away my hearing."
"He has similar powers to Evelyn." He spoke as he kept wiping off the blood. "I have known him since I was a child, he may be a pain in the ass, but he is loyal."
I just nodded, still not liking him one bit.
"Will he help us get the relic?" I whispered to him. He just nodded as he stared into my eyes.
"I'm sorry." He whispered his eyes actually looking remorseful. "I didn't want to hurt you or use you."
I just nodded as I felt his fingers trace where the blood was on my jaw and neck.
"You weren't supposed to be this special." He whispered. "You weren't supposed to fill all of my thoughts and force your way into my fucking heart."
He leaned closer, his breath mingling with mine as we just stared into each other's eyes. Without thinking I leaned up, pressing my lips against his. Fire erupted throughout my body as he wrapped his arms around my waist forcing his body between my legs. My chest was flush against his abdomen as he kissed me like I was all he needed.
He squeezed my waist causing my lips to part. He took advantage of that forcing his tongue into my mouth. I moaned against him as he pressed my body impossibly closer to his. My hands sneaked under his shirt as a shudder ran through his body at the contact. I knew deep down this was wrong. That I shouldn't let him back in already. But some fucked up part of me was desperate for him.
"Hate to interrupt, but do you have any clothes that aren't fucking dresses."
Theo pulled away and glared at him, pulling out a dagger. He was going to kill him.
