Chapter 4

Drama, drama, drama. Oh, and guess what? Even more drama!
Why do I even talk to you?
Like I said, drama!
Oh, God...
My exact thoughts.

{Echo}

I was nearly unconscious, when I felt someone grab me from the waist and pull me up on the surface. I started coughing out water uncontrollably and held right on the person that saved me. My vision was blurry and it was dark, so I didn't know who it was.

«I found her!» I heard the person shout and I recognized their voice immediately. It was Felix. «It's okay, I got you...» he whispered to me.

We were lucky we weren't far from the shore when we crashed, so we reached the shore quickly. The bad news is that we weren't at the docks, but we were at a cave near the rocks we had crashed into.

The others gathered around immediately.

«Is she breathing?» Celine asked. «Oliver, calm down, she's okay!» she told him. I felt my eyelids heavy.

«No, no, no! Don't do that!» Ariadne said and slapped me across the face. I gasped for air again.

«What was that for?» Alfred asked her.

«She was going to faint on us. I'm not going to tolerate fainting.» she argued.

A while later I felt a little better. Just a little. All of our teeth were chattering from the cold, I was shaking from the shock and my brother almost had a panic attack. I hadn't said a word since Felix pulled me out of the water, but I think that was understandable.

«How are we going to go back?» Alfred asked after some time.

«Maybe some of us could go get another boat, one that is not captained by a crazy and irresponsible person. I mean, who doesn't have lifesavers on their boat?» Felix replied.

His voice was harsh and he sounded mad. That worried me at first, because he was never the kind of person that talked bad about others, but I relaxed once he hugged me.

I know that sounds cheesy, but it's more than just cheesy. It's cheesier, if you know what I mean.

Oliver hadn't spoken at all either. He was sitting next to me and he kept looking at the distance.

«Hey... I'm fine. Relax.» I told him and ruffled his hair.

«No, it's not. You could have died and it's not the first time. We go out to have fun, and you manage to nearly get yourself killed. That's what always happens with you. What if one day Felix isn't there to save you? You keep relying on him to be there, but what if one day he isn't?» he asked me. He was right, but I didn't want to admit it. He took my silence as a sign he should keep talking. «You risked your life for a video camera. Why the hell would you do that? You nearly died.» my brother added carefully.

«I guess it's better to be dead than knowing you've lost it. That camera is proof that I'm not crazy. What if one day I wake up and you don't remember? What if one day you decide this wasn't real? I need to know all this actually happened.» I replied and he nodded.

No one spoke for a while after that.

«Damon, we have to go get a boat. Are you coming?» Felix told Alfred, who nodded in reply. «We will be back in a while to get you. Don't go anywhere.» he continued.

I had never seen him so serious or mad. If he ever found the captain... Let's just say I would give anything to not be him. The captain and his co-captain didn't wash out along with us, but I caught a glance of them later at the docks, so that means they survived. That was good news. I would love to burn their faces off, but I wasn't strong enough at the time and if I told anyone Felix would hear about it and beat me to it.

Soon he and Damon returned with a boat and a decent captain. And blankets.

I had never been more grateful to see a blanket before in my life.

A few minutes later we were back at the docks. We thanked the captain for helping us out (he even let us keep the blankets) and returned to the hostel.

«Hey. Relax. We're all okay.» I told Felix after we had all changed into clean and dry clothes.

«Yeah, but things could have turned out differently.» he replied.

«Yeah, but they didn't! We're all safe.» I argued.

«What if I hadn't found you in time? What if you had drowned?»

«I didn't and I don't need saving all the time!»

«I didn't say that!»

«Whoah! Calm down you two!» Ariadne interrupted as she walked into the room. «They're trying to sleep next door.» she added.

«I should go too.» Felix replied and left. I wanted to tell him to wait, but I didn't. That was one of the little times I regretted being stubborn.

I lied down on my bed, my face on a pillow.

«What did you fight about?» Ariadne asked me.

«You heard everything, why should I repeat the entire argument?» I replied through the pillow.

«When you talk about stuff you feel better, but of course you wouldn't know. Now, when is Celine going to be done with the shower? I have to pee...» she said.

«She sure takes her time...» I muttered.

«Why do I even bother with you people?» Ariadne sighed. I couldn't see her because my face was looking into a pillow, but I like to think she shook her head when she said that.

That's when the bathroom door opened and Celine came out. Ariadne practically ran to the bathroom. I looked up from the pillow and saw the most confused expression across Celine's face.

«What did I miss?» she asked, and I buried my face back in the pillow.

(Damon)

Felix came back to the room even more frustrated than before.

«What happened? We could hear you and Echo arguing from here.» I asked him.

«I don't want to talk about it.» Felix sighed.

«I'm warning you, if you two stop talking to each other, I'm going to kill you.» Oliver threatened.

«What? Why? I thought you didn't want us together.» Felix protested.

«Are you two together?» Oliver questioned suspiciously.

«I don't know, are you and my cousin together?» Felix retorted.

«Where did that come from?» Oliver asked surprised.

«Okay, slow down there. The both of you. That's not the point.» I told them.

«Then what is the point? We went on a night out and almost died. Amon wasn't even the cause of tonight's events. We can't even go for a walk without being afraid that a tree might fall and crush us.» Felix argued.

«That's some serious pessimism right there.» I muttered. «Look, bad things happen all the time. People die every day, that doesn't mean we should stop living.» I continued.

«From what dark side of the Internet did you dig that out from?» Oliver asked sarcastically.

«I'm so done with the Waters family...» I sighed.

«What did I do this time?» Oliver asked again.

«Let's just go to sleep. The cold water must have damaged your brains or something.» I sighed.

I slept immediately after that, though I'm not sure if I can say the same about the other guys. I was sleeping, I don't know if they stayed up, but I could definitely hear muttering from the girls' room. Thin walls, even though not thin enough for me to make out what they were saying.

Not that I cared or anything. I would ask Ari about it later, anyway.

The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast. There was tension between Echo and Felix, who didn't talk, but kept glancing at each other. They thought we couldn't see them, the amateurs. Try having to hide your relationship from the staff and a family in an entire villa for three years, and then come talk to me.

Sorry. I tend to overreact. I don't really get how people stand me. I have issues.

«So... How did everyone sleep?» I asked awkwardly to break the even more awkward silence. Echo glared at me and Ari facepalmed. «Okay, then... No small talk.» I muttered.

«Yeah. That sounds good...» Celine yawned.

«What are we going to do today?» Ari asked.

«Nothing. We will lie down at our beds until we die.» Echo muttered. We all looked at her confused. «Did I say that out loud?» she asked when she noticed us. We all nodded in sync. «Dammit. Forget I said anything in the first place.»

«Okay..?» Celine said hesitantly. «I say we stay in and play board games.» she suggested.

«Do whatever you want, I will stick to my other plans.» Echo replied and dropped her head on the table. «Ouch...» She muttered.

Oliver shook his head and sighed. Suddenly I felt someone kick me under the table. I looked around to see who it was, and found Felix glaring at Oliver, who had a smirk that proved him guilty, all over his face.

When I gave him a questioning look, he nodded towards the corridor and the three of us got up.

«Where do the three of you think you're going?» Celine questioned.

«To... The bathroom.» Oliver said unconvincingly and nudged at Felix with his elbow.

«Yeah, right. The bathroom.» Felix added, being equally convincing with Oliver. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

«Since when do boys go to the bathroom together? I thought that was one of the reasons you laugh at girls...» Ariadne smirked. I glared at her.

«Yeah, but... after a long night of thinking we decided we should try being in your shoes and offer more support rather than jokes.» Oliver said slowly.

«Whatever... Who are we to question you?» Echo muttered without getting her head off the table.

We went out in the corridor.

«What do you want?» Felix inquired.

«For you to stop being an idiot and talk things out with my sister.» Oliver replied.

«Why don't you tell her to come talk things out with me?» Felix asked again.

«Because Echo is too stubborn. You are easier to break.» I told him, catching up on what Oliver's intentions were.

«And since when do the two of you care about what's going on with Echo and I?» He asked again coldly.

«Ever since she became attached.» Oliver said and sighed. «Look, before she met you she only trusted me, her older brother--»

«She'd say she's older.» Felix interrupted and Oliver raised his eyebrow. «Sorry.»

«As I was saying, she only trusted me, her older  brother, and even that took years to achieve. Then, suddenly, here comes Felix Taylor from another dimension and she's all trusting and open about everything. She really likes you. Go talk it over with her. I hated you at first, but you saved her bloody life more times than I can count, so just elope already...» he rolled his eyes.

«What he said. Wait... Why did you invite me out here again?» I asked confused.

«Emotional support.» Oliver replied.

«That makes sense...» I said being totally convinced. No sarcasm in there, just absolute truthfulness.

After that we went back at the table to finish out breakfast. We found that Echo had fallen asleep on the table, so we stayed there for a good three hours.

Try to wake Echo Waters and then come tell me that we're stupid.

I just wish that a simple fight was all the trouble Echo and Felix were to face...
