Chapter 12
Could you an my cousin be any more cheesy?
Could you and my brother be any more cheesy?
Touchè, Waters. Touchè.
[Oliver]
We could barely hold Celine and Alcyone as we headed back to the castle. Notus was a dead man walking.
When we arrived we almost lost the girls on the way to Notus' room. Alcyone blew the door open.
«What's going on?» he asked surprised.
«It's your fault! You traitor!» Alcyone yelled at her uncle.
«What's my fault? Where's Effie?»
«She's dead. Go ahead and spill the beans about Amon and the war right now. Why would you help him?» Celine asked.
«Wait... My daughter is dead? No. This wasn't supposed to happen. This is wrong. You're lying!» he yelled.
«Tell that to the supposed rogue that stabbed her. We know everything.» Alcyone spat.
Thunder started rambling. Notus hadn't lost control, surprisingly and thankfully, but he looked pretty mad.
«It's not my fault you didn't protect her!» he growled. Six guards appeared at the door behind us. The thunders must have been an alarm. «Take the boys away. I'll take care of the other two.» he ordered.
Two of the guards grabbed me and two others grabbed Damon. They started pulling us outside the room, while the two others held Celine and Alcyone behind.
«Let them go!» Celine shrieked. She kept kicking and hitting and biting the guard the hardest she could, but he wouldn't budge. As the door was about to close behind me when I was being taken away, Celine stopped fighting. Two seconds later the guard was sent flying off the window.
She turned around. Her eyes were milk-white and there were very strong winds blowing inside the room, which was impossible.
«Dammit...» Damon muttered. We ran away from the shocked guards and back into the room.
Celine had lost control and everything was crazy. As far as I knew from Echo, she didn't really know what she was doing, but deep inside she wanted to do it, even if she was absolutely oblivious to it.
The roof got ripped off by the winds. Lighting thundered and started zapping the guards. I had to stop her.
«What is it with you and Celine today and doing stuff that puts you in danger?» Damon asked me with an exasperated look on his face.
«I have no idea...» I muttered.
Notus was nowhere to be found. The Chicken.
Wait. That's Amon's nickname. Notus is now the Chicken 2.0.
I tried to get close to Celine. She was in the middle of the room, causing all the wind and catastrophe as if it was nothing. It was hard to approach her when she was practically creating a hurricane inside a room. It's not like those things can be contained...
I grabbed her shoulder. She turned and looked at me. It was raining now.
«You have to stop. This has already gotten out of hand!» I told her.
«Notus is a traitor!» she yelled at me. Her voice was different. Kinda like Trelawney from Harry Potter whenever she told a prophecy, but more high pitched.
«Look around! Do you see Notus anywhere around here?» I asked her. Alcyone had ran near the door, terrified at what was happening. If a wind Elementalist was so afraid of Celine at the time, I wonder what I should have been. I must have seemed crazy.
Celine ignored me and then I did the most stupid thing in the world.
I kissed her.
Surprisingly, she kissed me back, but that's not really the point here, is it?
The sky started to clear and the sun came back out.
Celine stumbled. Well, of course she did after all that lightning stuff and the rain and the weather. You know what I mean.
«Are you okay?» I asked her.
«Yeah. Sorry...» She muttered.
«It's okay. I do like a girl who can fight back.» I teased her and she punched my arm weakly. «Now lets go home. This is the longest I've been without my sister and I'm worried we will stop being so co-dependent with each other.» I told her and she laughed. «You hear that? We're going back to the barn!» I yelled at Damon.
We spoke with Alcyone and she promised she would do her best to bring more people in the fight. She said that she would love to fight along with us.
She's not as cold as she seemed in the beginning.
We left for the barn. It was late, so we camped for the night somewhere in the woods. Fortunately for us, Felix wasn't the one leading the way, so we didn't get lost.
The next morning we kept walking. We arrived at the barn at noon. The others weren't there yet, but we weren't worried. We had agreed on a week and it had only been three days.
I just hoped it wouldn't take too long, because I'm actually a really nervous person with a ton of insecurities. I'm also really impatient.
But there was nothing I could do to get the others here faster was there?
{Echo}
After clicking the necklace I kind of fainted. I had used my powers for too long I had fought my dark side, as I like to call it, but I had enough. The thing is that we were in earth and Felix and I looked like poop. Also Felix had never been to Earth before.
The weird thing is that we ended up in the attic, back in the mansion. Maybe it was takes us to the last place we were on each world, after all.
As far as Felix told me later, he tried to wake me so I could charge the necklace and we could leave, but there was no such luck.
Come on, let's be real. They can barely wake me up when I'm asleep, let alone when I have fainted.
I woke up a few minutes later when he had started to panic and he started hearing footsteps approaching.
When I heard them too, I knew we had to get the hell out of there, because those authority filled footsteps were my mom's and I couldn't let her catch me in the attic when I was supposed to be wherever the hell Amon had told her.
The point is that I didn't have any time to charge the necklace.
«Under the bed.» I whispered at Felix. I rolled under Oliver's bed and Felix rolled under mine.
My mom's heels clicked on the floor. She stayed for a couple minutes, looking around, and then left and went back downstairs.
I let out a breath I hadn't noticed I had been holding.
We rolled back out from underneath the beds and I lit the compass on fire so it would be charged with magic or something. That's how Ari had explained it.
«Won't you show me around?» he asked.
«Are you serious? We have to get out of here!» I told him. He made his cute face.
«No. Don't do that. No. Take those puppy dog eyes away from me.» I told him.
«Please...» He pleaded.
«Fine, but only this room. The house is huge.» I gave up. He smiled widely.
I showed him my bed, Oliver's bed, my boxed stuff because I hadn't found the time to unpack and all that.
«That's where you and Celine can stay if you come back with us after this is all over.» I suggested and showed him some extra space there was in the room.
«I'd love that.» he smiled.
«Me too... But we have to go now. Ari, remember?» I reminded him. He nodded.
I held Felix's hand and clicked it again.
We were back in the cave, but the walls were back in their places.
«Wait. Where's the potion?» Felix asked.
«Dammit! It must have fallen off back in the attic...» I grumbled.
«We can't go back now, so I say we just go get Ari and leave. Let's just hope the others had better luck...» He suggested.
«Yep. It will take forever to find that little vial in my untidy room. We don't have that time.» I agreed.
We ran back to the House. The chief was not expecting us back so soon.
«The potion.» he said.
«Let us see Ari first.» I told him. I tried to look intimidating. I don't know if I succeeded, but he made two guards bring Ari. She was discussing with them cheerfully and they kept laughing.
«Hey! You're here!» she said excitedly.
«Duh.» I told her seriously, but burst out laughing a couple seconds later.
«Care to introduce us?» Felix asked.
«That's Carl and that Benny. Guys, that's my cousin Echo and her boyfriend Felix.» she introduced us.
«Hi!» we said and shook their hands. They seemed like nice guys.
«Enough talking. The vial.» the chief said.
«Shut up, Earl.» Ari laughed.
«His name is Earl? Wow. I never saw that one coming.» Felix laughed too.
«I said enough! The potion, now, or the deal is off.» he said.
«We lost it. Oops.» I rolled my eyes.
«What?! That's impossible! How could you do that?» he yelled. And then people say I have a bad temper.
«Slippery fingers.» I shrugged.
«Take her back to her cell!» he told Carl and Benny. They didn't move. «Did I stutter? Take her back to her cell!» he repeated.
«We're not deaf.» Benny told him coldly. «We just decided to ignore your statement because it was stupid, much like yourself.» he continued.
Earl had enough of it and called more guards. We were outnumbered.
The newcomers tried to take us all to the dungeons, but I wasn't feeling like it. I gave Ari a meaningful look.
She got what so meant immediately. She looked like she hated the idea, but she did what she had to do and I did the same.
A vine erupted from the ground and made all the guards let us go. I lit my hands on fire and started burning people. Literally.
Soon they were all running away, until it was only me, Ari, Felix, Carl, Benny and Earl in the room.
Earl cleared his throat and we turned to look at him. He had a knife on Felix's neck.
How that happened, I have no idea. I was too busy scorching people to notice.
I remembered the last time an idiot did that to someone I care about. It had resulted in Celine going to the hospital.
This guy wasn't going to the hospital; he was going straight to his grave, if there was anything left of him to bury. Ari shot me a worried look.
«Game over, girls.» Earl smiled triumphantly.
«Don't do that. You don't want her mad.» Felix muttered.
«Shut up.» Earl said and dug the knife deeper into his neck. Felix started bleeding.
«Oh no.» Ari muttered. «Hide.» she told Carl and Benny.
Then everything turned red. Fire erupted from me. I lost control.
A/N: Hey!!! This chapter is a little short because reasons. You'll see when it's time.
Anyway, in case you were confused this is day 4. Celine, Oliver and Damon are already at the Barn. Ari's discussion with Earl took place on day 2.
And if you were confused about their ages:
Echo and Oliver are 16.
Celine is 15.
Felix is 17.
Ari is 22.
Damon is 24.
Effie was 15.
Alcyone is 17.
Earl is 18.
That's the younglings. The others have no specified ages. Carl and Benny are around 25-30, Jennifer is 40-45 and Amon is 45 or so. Andromeda, Celine's mom in case you didn't remember, was 35 (yeah, pretty young) and Mallory was 40. Notus is about 50.
Okay, I think that's everyone.
This book is going to be a little longer than the first one and there will also be a bonus chapter after the epilogue.
The next chapter is going to be Ari's and that's all I can tell you for now.
Bye!!!
