Monster Movie Part Two

Kate, Sam and Dean sat at an outside table with Anna-Marie, the girlfriend of Pennsylvania's newest victim. She was slurping loudly on a giant cup, Kate grimacing in annoyance.

"And then it just -- it just tore Rick into little pieces." She finished her cup, setting it down and slumped in her chair. Kate exchanged a look with Sam and Dean, turning back to the woman.

"Ma'am, we know how hard this must be for you, but... can you describe the creature that attacked Rick?" Kate asked as Anna-Marie raised her brows, nodding.

"Oh. It was a werewolf." Kate reeled back in shock, looking to Sam and Dean.

"A werewolf?" Kate repeated, and Anna-Marie hummed in confirmation. "Are— Are you sure?"

"Oh, yeah. With the furry face, and the black nose, and the claws and... and the the torn up pants and shirt. Like from the old movies." Kate's confused look dropped, rolling her eyes to look at Sam. She was now starting to doubt if monsters were actually real or she just got dragged into a giant joke by two whack jobs.

"Well, okay, so... Thank you for your time." Sam, Dean and Kate were quick to leave, and as soon as they got in the Impala, Kate had an angry glare on her face.

"Alright. This town is full of nut jobs."

"What?" Sam and Dean frowned, turning to look at Kate from the front seat.

"In the last few days, two people have been killed by Dracula, and Wolf Man cosplayers." Sam and Dean shared a look, both shrugging in partial agreement.

"We'll need to check out Rick's body."

———

Now wearing gloves, Kate pulled out Rick's body from the morgue, unzipping the body bag it was cast in. Sam and Dean gagged at the smell, Kate glancing up at them. "Come on. You guys are seriously grossed out by the smell?"

"It smells bad!" Dean argued, grimacing at the body as Kate snickered, rolling her eyes. "How— Never mind, you were a mortician."

"Pathologist." Kate corrected as she searched the the bag, pausing. "The heart is still here. And look." Kate lifted up what was left of Rick's arm. "Can werewolves bite straight through bone?"

"Not the ones we've hunted." Sam sighed, shaking his head.

"What the hell is going on in this town?" Dean furrowed his brows as Kate zipped the body back up, removing her gloves.

"I was hoping you three could tell me." The three turned to see Sheriff Dietrich walk in, holding an envelope. "I just got a rush job back from the lab on those fibers that were found on the body." He took out an evidence bag from the envelope, handing it to Kate.

"Canine." She mumbled. Turning to Sam and Dean. "It's wolf hairs."

Dean shut his eyes and raised his brows, shaking his head. "I'm getting a headache."

———

Kate sat with Sam and Dean at the bar again, enjoying herself a large burger as well as Dean. Sam stuck to a smaller, less jaw-locking burger.

"I don't know, man. Looks like we've stumbled onto a midnight showing of Dracula meets Wolf Man. Is that it?" Dean said as he set his burger down, frowning. Kate shrugged.

"I don't know. I mean, Wolf Man seems real enough. Makes Dracula seem a little less impossible, I guess." Sam stated as Kate picked up a french fry, looking at Sam and Dean.

"I did read that it's a myth that werewolves grow wolf hairs. But, I also read that some werewolves can turn into wolves, and that turned out to be a book where the main character was in love with a shitty vampire. So, I'm thinking wolf hairs are a myth."

"It is a myth." Dean commented as Kate shrugged again, eating her fries. "So, what? We've got a vampire and a werewolf monster mashing this town?"

As Kate opened her mouth to speak, Jamie walked over with a round of beers for them. "Looks like you guys are staying a while. I heard about Rick Deacon."

"Yeah, this case just got weird enough for our department." Dean said as he took the beer, taking a long swig from it.

"Well, beers are on me. And, just so you know, I get off at midnight tonight." She turned to Dean, who gave her a flirtatious look... Again.

"Oh, it's not another, uh, girls' night out?"

"Doesn't have to be." Jamie smirked, and Dean glanced her up and down. Sam and Kate shared a bothered look.

"Okay, then. I'll see you tonight." Jamie held her smile as she walked away, Kate turning to Dean.

"Hey, you think this Dracula could turn into a bat? That would be cool." Kate and Sam gave Dean a bitchface, and he glanced between the two. "You guys need to stop being so similar. It's freaking me out."

———

Kate examined the body of the guard that had been killed last night while Sam and Dean examined a sarcophagus. She tilted the dead man's head up to look at the contusions on his neck, frowning.

Sam and Dean approached Kate as she stood up. "Well. I guess the mummy has a choking kink. How old is the sarcophagus?" Kate gestured to the tomb, Sam sighing.

"It's not ancient. It's from a prop house in Philly." Kate frowned, looking down at the bucket of dry ice in Dean's hand.

"I take it that was in there with mummy dearest?" Kate joked, smiling as Sam and Dean chuckled in amusement.

"Uh, yeah. I think he—"

"Oh shit!" Dean suddenly yelled, looking down at his watch. "I'm late for my date. Are you guys good here with uh—"

"Yeah. Yeah go ahead." Dean set down the bucket of dry ice and ran off, Kate and Sam watching him with a smirk.

"What else did you find on the guard?" Sam asked as the two watched the body get wheeled off.

"Well, other than the contusions on his neck, nothing. He died pretty slowly. Sucks." Kate sighed, walking with Sam back to the sarcophagus. "They found a bullet casing. No blood obviously but the mummy was definitely shot."

"Did you find out what kind of bullet?"

"9mm. Not silver, by the way." Kate said as she stood inside the sarcophagus, looking up and around. "There's a security camera. Think we should look at it?"

———

Sam and Kate sat in the security office, looking over the camera footage from the last few hours. Kate paused as she noticed the sarcophagus started to open on the camera, the two leaning forward to watch.

"Wait, wait pause." Kate clicked a button and Sam pointed to the mummy, whose eyes were glowing white. "Look at the eyes."

"I don't think "The Mummy" had glowing white eyes." Kate frowned, turning away as she thought. Her brows rose. "Holy shit!"

"What?" Sam turned to Kate, who scoffed.

"I knew the sheriff's last name sounded familiar. James Dietrich was the musician for The Mummy in 1932." Sam nodded, raising a brow before Kate turned back to the security footage. "Also that is definitely a shapeshifter."

"Yeah. We should probably call Dean, let him know we found our killer." Sam paused as his phone started to ring, answering it. "Dean? We were just about to call— woah, wait, what?" Kate furrowed her brows as Sam gave her a worried glance. "Okay. Okay we're on our way."

"What's going on?"

"It's Jamie. She and Dean were just attacked by Dracula."

———

Sam and Kate walked quickly into the bar again. spotting Dean and Jamie sitting at a table. "Hey. You guys all right?" Sam asked as the two sat down across from them.

"Yeah, I think so. And I think I know what's going on." Sam and Kate both nodded as Dean pulled out a folded towel on the table.

"Yeah, we think so, too." Kate stated as Dean unwrapped the towel, revealing an ear. Kate raised a brow. "Is that his ear?"

"Ripped it off of Dracula's head. Touch it." Sam glanced to Kate, slowly touching the ear. He pulled back, grimacing.

"Feel familiar to you?" Kate touched the ear, also grimacing.

"Gross. Anyways, it's a shapeshifter." Dean's express dropped, looking to Sam.

"You guys already knew what it was?" Sam and Kate shared a look, nodding. "Remind me to never leave the two smart people in the same room." Dean looked to Jamie, who had a man extremely confused look on her face. "Anyways, yeah. Skin of a shapeshifter. Just like St. Louis and just like Milwaukee. Of course this one's all holding buckets of crazy. Oh, and, uh..."

Dean pulled out a medallion from his pocket, handing it to Sam."This, I pulled it off during the fight. Look at the label on the ribbon." Kate looked over Sam's shoulder as they read the label.

"It's a costume rental." Sam sighed, Kate turning to Dean.

"So I'm assuming the others were rentals, too?"

"All three monsters - the Dracula, Wolf Man, and the mummy -- all the same critter, which means we need to catch this freak before he Creature From the Black Lagoons somebody."

"So, you guys are like Mulder, Scully and Skinner or something, and The X-Files are real?" Jamie asked as Dean shook his head.

"No, The X-Files is a TV show. This is real." Jamie, who was still confused, nodded slowly z

"Okay, so, the stagecraft, the costuming... it's like he's trying to re-enact his favorite monster movie moments, right down to the bloody murders." Sam explained, the three turning to Jamie as she shifted awkwardly.

"Wait a second. Who the hell is Mina?"

"Mina?"

"Yeah. That's what he called Jamie. And he called me Mr. Harker." Dean said as Kate nodded.

"Jonathan Harker? They're characters from the movies and the novels -- Mina, Dracula's intended bride, Harker the fiancé that stands in the way. Seems like he's fixating on you, like he sees you as his bride." Sam stated as Jamie grimaced in disgust.

"Wow. Lucky me."

"But to fixate on you, my guess is that the shifter has to have seen you before or been around you."

"Jamie, has anybody strange come to town, somebody that has taken a specific notice of you?" Kate asked as Jamie thought, shrugging.

"I don't know... It's Oktoberfest. I'm a bartender. There's lots of people. I... wait a second. There is Ed."

""Ed Brewer" Ed?"

"Yeah. He moved here about a month ago. Lucy swears he has a crush on me. He comes in almost every night. But, you know, I don't think he's the type of guy—"

"Where does Ed live?" Sam interrupted Jamie, who paused.

"I don't know. But he works at the old movie theater. I think he's the projectionist there." Sam turned to Kate, raising a brow.

"You want to come with?" Kate's eyes widened at Sam and she turned to Dean, almost like he was the dad she needed to get permission from.

"Uh... Yeah! Go right ahead." Dean said as he quickly glanced to Jamie.

"Alright... Take care of Mina?" Sam and Kate got up, walking out of the bar.

"Are you sure, Sam? I mean, I know I have some police training... But I thought I was just going to be helping with research. Not actually killing the thing."

"You'll do great. You've been doing nonstop reading on all of the monsters we've hunted in the past. You know how to kill a shapeshifter." Sam said as he and Kate got into the Impala. Sam turned to Kate. "Just try not to get killed."

Kate have Sam a worried look.

———

Sam and Kate sat in the Impala outside of the the movie theatre. Phantom of The Opera was showing.

"Okay. Remember, I take most of control of this, alright?" Sam said as Kate nodded, looking down at her new gun. It was a basic black one for the moment, but hopefully, eventually, she'll be able to get a custom one like Dean and Sam.

"I know, Sam. You get to shoot him unless you're unconscious. Or he has an advantage on me, or he's killing you." Kate turned to Sam, smiling. A small dimple appeared on her cheek. Sam hummed quietly, nodding.

The two got out of the car, walking into the theater as organ music swelled. Both Sam and Kate checked the clips in their guns before slowly approaching the shadow of a man playing the organ. The music suddenly switched to something happy, which halted when Sam slammed Ed into the organ, and aimed the gun at his face.

"Whoa!" Ed yelled, staring at the barrel of the gun with huge, horrified eyes. Kate stood back, holding her gun to Ed, silently waiting. "You, FBI man and woman-- What did I –"

"Shut up, okay, you know what you did." Sam spat, Ed looking to Kate, whose heart was beating rapidly as she attempted to remain calm. This was insane, right?

"I— Wh... What?" Ed frowned in confusion. Sam's grip tightened on his shirt.

"We know what you are." Ed's confusion only grew, laughing nervously.

"I'm not anything. I just like to play the Casio." Sam twisted Ed's head, looking at his ear.

"Had time to grow the ear back, huh?" He asked, Ed yelling in pain as Sam tugged on it. Both he and Kate paused, looking to each other.

"It's supposed to come off." Ed finally shoved Sam off of him, Kate stiffening as her grip hardened around her gun.

"No, it's not!" Ed screamed, Sam backing away ti Kate, bending down just a little to whisper.

"It's not him. Who could it be?" Kate shook her head, unsure.

"I don't know. But now we should probably leave." Kate lowered her gun, her and Sam awkwardly backing out of the theater before running back to the Impala.

———

Sam and Kate got back to the bar, looking around to see Dean and Jamie were gone. As Sam pulled out his phone, Kate walked around.

"Dean, hey listen. Uh, Ed is not our guy. Um, I'm guessing you're at home with Jamie, so just give me a call, okay?" Sam spoke into his phone, looking to Kate as she slowly picked up a napkin with lipstick on it. Kate's eyes widened as she lowered the napkin, a broken bottle on the ground.

"Sam. I think I know who the shapeshifter is." Sam rushed over, spitting the broken glass as Kate raised the napkin up. "It's Jamie's friend, Lucy."

———

Sam picked the lock to where Lucy, or whoever she was impersonating, was staying. Kate looked around the porch, gripping her gun in one hand. "I got it. Let's go." Sam said quietly as he opened the door. He ushered for Kate to enter, pressing his hand to her back as the two walked in, guns raised.

"I can check downstairs. You should look upstairs." Kate suggested as Sam shook his head.

"No way. We're sticking together." Kate shrugged, following Sam as they entered a room, where Dean was tied up. The older Winchester sighed in relief.

"Oh, thank God. Just in the nick of time. That guy was about to Frankenstein me." Sam rushed over to his brother and helped him out of his restraints:

"Hey there, Hansel." Sam smirked in amusement, Kate snorting as Dean smacked his brother in the arm.

"Shut up!" The three left the room quickly, Kate taking the back as Sam and Dean stuck side by side to the bedroom. Sam opened the door, finding Jamie lying unconscious on the bed. Dracula suddenly appeared, intercepting Sam and threw him right through a wall.

"You will never be Van Helsing!" Dracula yelled in a heavy accent as Dean attacked him. Kate ran over to Jamie in the chaos, patting her face quickly.

"Jamie wake up! Hey! Wake the fuck up!" Kate slapped Jamie a little hard, and the woman gasped awake. Kate lifted Jamie up and groaned in pain.

"And you, Harker. Now you die!" Dracula yelled to Dean, who rolled his eyes.

"Shut the hell up." Dean groaned as he was thrown to the ground, and Dracula raised his arms, about to go in for the kill. A gunshot echoed in the room, and Dracula looked down as his chest seeped in blood.

"Silver?" Dracula staggered, slowly turning to see Kate, whose gun was raised to him as she also had Jamie slung over her shoulder.

"It was beauty that killed the beast." Dracula fell into a chair as Sam stumbled out from behind the wall, groaning in pain.

"Perhaps this is how the movie should end." Dracula said as he took his final breath. Sam and Dean turned to Kate, whose eyes were wide as she breathed heavily.

"Oh my god." She mumbled, turning to Sam. "I just killed him."

"Yeah." Sam scoffed a smile, walking over to Kate before turning to the dead shifter. "You did."

———

Sam and Kate stood behind Dean as he gave Jamie a farewell kiss. The three Hunters walked to the Impala, and Kate sighed with a smile.

"I killed my first monster." She beamed, looking to Sam and Dean. "I think this deserves some pie."

Dean paused, his eyes widening as he stared at Kate. "Dude, she's perfect." He whispered to Sam, who laughed.

After a long moment of silence, Kate patted her legs. "So... I saved the day. What's this mean for me?" Sam and Dean exchanged a look, shrugging.

"We can always use an extra set of hands on a hunt. And you can help with all of the uh... Morgue stuff." Dean said as Kate grinned in content.

"You know, the shifter man had a point." Dean continued as the three approached the Impala. "It would be nice if life was movie simple. Although, if I was turning life into a movie, I wouldn't do this Abbott and Costello meet the monster crap."

"Yeah, no. I know what you'd pick." Sam commented as Dean frowned at him. Kate tilted her head to Dean, thinking.

"No, you don't." Dean scoffed, but his brother nodded.

"Yeah, I do."

"No. You don't. You don't either!" Dean pointed to Kate, who laughed, raising her hands in defense.

"I've known you for like four days, Dean."

"Porky's II." Sam said directly after Kate, who turned to him with a frown.

"What?" Dean said, opening the car door.

"You heard me." His brother smirked. Dean stared at Sam for a moment, thinking before he scoffed again.

"Lucky guess." Kate giggled at Dean who rolled his eyes. "What would you have said?"

"Space Balls." Kate shrugged, looking at Dean. "You look like the kind of guy that's obsessed with that movie."

"He is." Sam stated as Kate grinned again, getting into the car. Dean shook his head, looking to Sam.

"Four days. It's been four days since we met this girl and it feels like we've lived with her our entire lives." Sam smiled softly, nodding in agreement.

Brotp Dean and Kate moments anyone?

I'm suddenly realizing that Kate is basically Sam and Dean combined into one tiny and adorable person.
