Midnight doesn't mean darkness

It's the artificial lights
that color your world
the black and white
of vintage photos

Darkness doesn't mean midnight

It's the feeling in your soul
when there is nothing left
the wide, empty holes
scattered on your epidermis

At midnight, light can still seep
in under your pillow
as you sleep

In darkness, flashlights are worthless
if you have eyes
but no vision
