Chapter 5- Matthew
I learned later on, after my meeting with Josephine, that the council knew about my encounter with April and Michael. They were not pleased with my actions and neither was I. If I could redo what happened, I’m sure I would have succeeded. I sat now in my new bedchamber in Josephine’s marvellous castle. The chamber was cramped and only had one window. The walls and floor was made with stone and the chamber only had a single bed, small nightstand with an alarm clock on it and there was a small desk with some paper on it, a quill and a bottle with ink.
For the time being, I was restricted to my room and was only allowed to leave when I needed to go to the bathroom or if I was summoned. A guard named Maslow was guarding me from the outside of the door. It was so incredibly boring sitting in here. I’d rather be out and getting my revenge on the angel and girl. If it wasn’t for them, I would have had everything and I would still be me. I lay back on my bed and stared at the ceiling for a further 5 minutes till there was a knock on my door.
The door opened and Josephine entered accompanied with two heavily armed guards. I immediately rose off my bed and kneeled on the floor.
“How do you like you accommodation Matthew?”
“I would prefer something with a bit more light, but I suppose this will do.”
She didn’t look amused with his little joke.
Before he could apologise she said “We have the one you are after. The angel Michael.”
Forgetting my place, I stood up with excitement. The guards with her tensed up and held their weapons tighter.
“Mistress, please, where is he? Let me finish what I started.”
She held up her hand.
“The council does not want you to kill the angel at the moment. We have a plan and we need you to do as we say. Do I need to remind you of who your loyalties lie to?”
“Not at all mistress, please forgive me.”
Josephine lowered her hand.
“We will give you briefing shorty about what you task will be. Then you may have your chance to redeem yourself to us and take care of business.”
“Of course, I look forward to it.”
With that she left and the door was again closed. Finally a chance for revenge, a second chance. I was giddy with anticipation.
I will not fail this time.
