CHAPTER 2

•••

As Samantha began to make a turn to where the entrance to La Push was at something in the woods off to the side caught her attention which had her debating whether or not if she should go see what it was or just stay in her car and continue driving. She stuck with her second option.

***

An hour had passed by the time she was pulling up against a driveway that was all too familiar to her. Once she turned off her ignition and got out of her car while shutting the door behind her, her eyes glanced at the two story building that sent an awful feeling to her stomach remembering the events that had happened the last time she was here. As she stared at the building, it seemed as if nothing has changed in the last eight years she had been away. Except for the dark green grass that once surrounded the front yard was now nothing but dead grass.

She started walking to where the front porch of the house was at and on her way towards the door she saw the garden, if you could call it a garden, what with the dead roses, were all dead. Upon reaching the front door, she opened it, already prepared to see the disaster that was waiting for her behind the door.

All that could be seen was the furniture that was already taking residence inside the house, an old television that she once watched with her either when they were younger, the blood of her parents still remained on the floor but it was dried now. No windows were shattered as well as couches that haven't been time apart which was a good sign. Samantha was taken by surprised when she noticed no animals were living in her home.

Walking pass her living room, she headed towards her backyard that she remembered playing when she was a young girl. In the backyard, there was her old swing set that was put to good use throughout her innocent childhood years before the dreadful incident. Her brothers old power rangers bicycle sat there next to her swing set untouched, throughout the years it had collected a very lack of dust.

Heading back into the house, she started to walk upstairs to where all the bedrooms were at. Her hand slide itself on the railing that she remembered she held once when she had some trouble walking down the stairs by herself as a child. She began to look through each room to see what the state of the rest of the house would be like. Both her parents and brothers room weren't that bad, everything seemed to be in order; all that really needed to be taken care of in their rooms was the dust that were on their furnitures.

After checking the condition of their bedrooms, Samantha walked towards her room. Once her hand was placed on the door handle, she hesitated at first. She could feel the emptiness of her room through her finger tips as it touched the doorknob. Sighing, she opened her door and her eyes glanced at the basket of dolls as well as her other toys she once played when she was little; they too, were covered in a fine layer of dust.

Staring around the room fondly, she rested a hand gently on the doorframe of her room. So many memories were in this room. She remembered when she had gotten nightmares her mother would enter her room and tuck herself beside her in her bed and sing her a song that would make her forget about her nightmares.

Walking into the room, she headed straight to her bed, that still had her Cinderella blanket on it, and gently touched it to find that it was cold as ice. A thought came to her mind, I need to clean and fix this house. Just as she finished her thought, the sound of her cellphone rang. She pulled it out from her back pocket and saw the caller I.D.
Her finger tapped the answer button and the voice of a very close friend of hers rang threw her phone.

"Samantha?" Jessie, a friend she met in Seattle, asked through the other line.

"Yeah," Samantha responded as she picked up a picture frame that was on her nightstand. It was a picture of her parents as well as both her brother and herself all smiling. A smile formed it's way on to her lips as she remembered the day the photo was taken.

"Are you in La Push?" came Jessie's curious response.

"Yeah, I just got here. Why?" Samantha asked her curiously as she set the frame back down.

"I sent the guys over there to help you. Thought you might need a hand," Jessie said as she began to fold the towels that laid on her bed.

"That would be great Jess, thank you." Samantha said earnestly. Seeing the condition on how the house is, she could really use the extra hands as well as strength.

"No problem, they should be there any minute now." Ironically as soon as she said that the doorbell rang.

The doorbell still works? She mused to herself.

"Hey Jess, I gotta go." She bid her farewell before hanging up then went downstairs and as soon as she opened the door, she was crushed into a huge hug.

Confused as to who it was touching her it wasn't long before the confusion was cleared up once the person had set her down so she saw who it was. They greeted her with a huge smile,"Hey Sammy." She chuckled but returned them the hug they had given her.

"Hey Tyler," she greeted which he smiled in reply. Her eyes darted behind him and saw that he brought along Derek, Steve, Frankie, and Dylan as well.

Derek was nineteen years old about five foot ten had brown eye with specks of green in them. From the outside you would see him as a cold hearted person because the way his image is but deep down inside him he was a very caring and sweet guy. Dylan was twenty-five years old was only six foot and had hazel eyes that Samantha envied seeing as how her eyes are only brown. He was the father figure out of all of us. When Samantha had first met him she thought he'd took steroids but surprisingly he didn't. Actually, when she saw all the guys she thought they were all on steroids.

Steve is eighteen had these blue, grayish eyes that would probably have any girl on her knees as for his highly he was the same height as Derek. Unlike Dylan and Derek, Steve was the goofball from all of them along side him was his best friend. Tyler, who was seventeen and was about five foot nine and had these beautiful blue eyes that made it seem like you were looking at the sea. Their bond was the type of bond where you would think they were related. From what Samantha discovered, they've known each other since they were in diapers so they were basically childhood best friends.

The only difference between the two was Tyler was more fit than Steve. Steve had a bit of muscle but his only defense was his sarcasm that would probably be the cause of his death.

Lastly, Samantha's personal favorite out of all them was Frankie who was sixteen, the same age as her. Had the same colored eyes as Dylan and was five foot eight. He was the baby out of all the guys. Now Frankie was the shy one in the family but was also another goofball when he wanted to be. For Frankie's age he had more muscle then he should normally have.

"Hey guys," she waved at them with a smile on her face once Tyler had released her. They all said their hellos and began to look around the place.

"So, are you guys going to just stand there or are you guys going to help me out?" She asked with a teasing smile.

Rolling their eyes at her, they all began to troop into the living room or kitchen and started arranging the furniture as well as cleaning the rest of the house. All the guys were helping Samantha out while Frankie walked to where she was at.

"Are you going to visit your brother?" The question brought her up short, seeing as how she hasn't seen her brother in eight years. She wanted to see her brother but she was afraid he'll leave her seeing as how she left him for awhile.

"I'll visit him someday." She said simply not really wanting to talk about her brother at the moment.

If I even know where he lives, Samantha thought bluntly to herself.

Nodding his head at her response he turned to go help the others out before stopping. She looked at him curiously, he asked," Are you going to see Jake?"

A memory of both her and Jacob when they were small flew to the forefront of her mind. She pictured his bright smile as well as his black glossy hair that she once loved to run her fingers through because it was so soft. She wondered if he even remembers her. Has he forgotten all about her? Does he still live in La Push?

Little did Samantha know that a few miles away from her, a teenage boy was sitting at the side of his bed while staring at the picture frame that had both him and a young girl smiling at one another.
