Chapter 8 Friends on the other side

*AUTHOR'S NOTES*

Now we get to meet two new characters that the Imprints come to meet. Enjoy my lovelies :)

____________

1750 Loch Ness, Scotland.  125 years later after their departure from the New World and into Europe.  Adam had shown her his world in England when he ruled as Henry the V and they remained in England for about 10 years until Adam decided that it was time to move on once again as to not raise suspicion.

Currently both Adam and Red reside in a small cottage that locals have said that it had a History on it with it being haunted by demons and things beyond the grave.  But since Adam and Red weren’t bothered by it, they disregarded the rumors and bought the house anyways and currently live a happy, secret life together.

For over 125 years, Red had to change her identity and name as to not to be recognize.  For 125 years she’s had to stay with her father and see the world, which was amazing at times to her.  Learning new cultures, new languages, and seeing places where she once only dreamed of seeing.

But at the same time, it got lonely.

While she did enjoy being with her new father, she still felt an empty void in her heart.

They never stayed in one place for too long, they never got to truly settle in, and not once did Red get involved within the humans more closely except for work.  She’s had to deny having friends just to keep her and her father’s secret safe since people still believe in Vampires and Werewolves and anything beyond the world they know to be witchcraft and demons from Hell.

And living a solitude life with no friends really wasn’t good for Red.

One night Adam and Red had just come back to their house after sneaking into a local medicine man and taken the blood they had in storage to refill their supply of blood.  Adam poured the O negative into two small cups and handed one to Red.

“Here you are darling” Red took the cup and they both drank their fill of the blood and was soon sent into blood ecstasy from the rarest blood they had gotten and hadn’t drank in over a century since O negative is so rare.  Red leaned against her father’s lap as she exhaled softly her newly grown fangs shining in the light as Adam threw his head back against the couch baring his fangs as well.

After their ecstasy had passed, Red still felt the empty void in her heart grow even stronger now.

She never bothered to tell her father about this problem and preferred to not talk about it because it would make him feel guilty and upset for allowing her to live a life of solitude when wolves are meant to have friends with their own kind and socialize with others.  She had developed a way to hide this from her father so that their Imprint bond wouldn’t tell Adam something was wrong with her.

As she laid there in her father’s lap feeling him beginning to play and stroke her long brown hair, Red sat up and wrapped her hood around her tighter.

“Red, are you okay?” She heard her father ask.  Red gripped her hood tighter making her knuckles turn white but she plainly stated.

“I’m fine dad, I promise. I just—didn’t get enough sleep last night”.  Adam could feel not just through the Imprint bond but his instincts as a father that something was troubling her.  He’s been around her so long that he instantly knows her body language on when something is wrong or right, plus she has a bad reputation of being a terrible liar.

“Do you want me to take you to bed?”

“No I—I’ll just let myself in, I’m fine I swear I am”.  She then took off hastily up the stairs into their bedroom and closed the door and bolted it shut.  She slowly walked towards the bed and crawled into it and hid herself under the sheets and buried herself in the pillows as she felt her shoulders shake, her throat clench, and whimpers starting to come out of her mouth in weak sobs.

It was then Red let it all out.

She let her sobs come out as she gripped the sheets and continued to cry.

“Oh Red,” she heard his voice say as she felt the bed dip from the weight that now came onto the bed.  The covers were pulled back revealing to Adam his daughter’s true state.  He leaned forward and gently nuzzled her teary cheek and kissed her temple lovingly.  He laid down beside her and took his sobbing daughter in his arms and held her tightly against him.

Their chests against each other, her head resting on his shoulder, her face buried into the crook of his neck, his hands holding hers in the most gentlest way, and kissing her head gingerly to sooth the taunts going through her head.

“Do you want to talk about it? You haven’t been acting like yourself for the past decade”.

“I thought I could hide it” her voice muffled from his shoulder.  Adam softly chuckled and said.

“You can’t. It’s not only our Imprint bond you have to try and hide from me, but also the power of the Father. As your father, I can tell when something is wrong. Remember you aren’t my first child”.  Red lowered her eyes in shame thinking she had no way out of this.

“I didn’t want this to happen. I didn’t want you to feel guilty once we start to talk about this and I’d rather just live it out and pray that it’ll pass in time”.

“But keeping it inside also isn’t healthy for you to do. While it is true I feel guilty about making you live a solitude life, I also want to try and help you through it, if you shut me out as well it’s going to make you feel even worse”.  Even though it would weigh on Red’s heart even more, she knew that her father was right.

At least this would at least lighten up her conscious and lift some weight off her shoulders.

“Lately I’ve been—I’ve been feeling this empty void in my heart. I know that we have to keep moving from place to place to protect ourselves but I—I haven’t been able to make one new friend at all, and that makes me feel sad that I can’t have a friend especially after my best friend turned boyfriend was killed by me. I wish that these humans weren’t afraid of us so that I can have at least one friend that I can hang out with, maybe a female friend so that we can talk girl stuff, things I don’t feel comfortable talking about with you”.

Adam remained silent as he listened to his daughter’s lamenting on how humans easy fear the unknown and how they would reject her even when she tries to be friendly once they find out what she truly is.  He rubbed her back in soothing circles and simply whispered soothing words in her ear.

Ever since he left the cult, he had to leave behind a dear friend of his and live the life as a criminal and a monster being run out from place to place, never once making another friend after Khan.  So he knew what Red was going through and remembered that pain of loneliness, thinking how that was the worst feeling he had ever felt.

And now his daughter was feeling it but ten times worse.

No Wolf lives alone, they turn people to form a pack or stay with their blood pack with their real family but never venture or stray alone for too long, otherwise they feel a pain that’s almost unbearable to withstand and sometimes it’s so great that they just stop eating, stop caring about life until they soon die of a broken heart.

He kissed her temple and stroked her cheek with the back of his hand and whispered lovingly,

“I’m sorry my darling, I didn’t mean for you to live like this, I’m sorry for making you endure this much pain”.

“No, no. I don’t care, at least I still have you, but still I just—”.

“I know my dear, I know”.

He stroked down her hair and lifted her chin up so that he could look into the teary eyes of his daughter.  Pressing his forehead softly against hers so that their noses gently grazed one another’s, he whispered to her.

“How about you get a little extra blood tonight and we just stay in here and cuddle together? No talking, just quiet, comforting cuddling in silence”.  Red smiled softly and said with a nod.

“I’d like that. Would you also mind humming a few lullabies as well?”

“Whatever my daughter desires, she shall receive” he kissed the tip of her nose and with vampire speed he raced out of the room only to reappear with a cup of O negative blood in his hand.  He laid back down beside her and she cuddled close to him and like a baby, he pressed the cup against her lips for her to drink.  Red always loved the feeling of Adam feeding her whether from his arm or a cup, it gave her a sense of security and the feel of a father’s touch and care; something she never got to experience but now she can.

After her fill and break from blood ecstasy, Red leaned up against Adam’s chest and nuzzled into it wanting to feel more of his warmth and touch.  Adam softly chuckled and kissed her hairline lovingly as he wrapped his arms around her, one arm around her waist to bring her closer to him and the other placed gently on top of her head gently stroking through her hair.  Shortly, just as she requested, Adam began to hum a lullaby as he brought her closer to him and kissed her again.

Red began to vision an alternate life with her new father as he hummed to her.  A nice, warm dinner would be currently cooking, they would be back at Red’s cottage on the couch cuddled close together by the fire’s glow on a cold winter’s night.  They didn’t have to worry about being Vampire or Werewolf, they were just normal human beings.  With two dogs and a cat, a steady stable to call their own, a nice warm family just the two of them as Father and Daughter.

Soon after envisioning this alternate world, Red fell into a deep, relaxing sleep hearing her father still humming the lullabies.  The relaxing feeling of the vibrations from his chest sent her into an even more relaxed state and peacefulness.  When Adam felt his daughter finally falling asleep, he softly smiled and gave her one last kiss on the cheek and whispered.

“Goodnight my little Red, sleep well”.  Then he too fell asleep holding his daughter close to assure her even as she slept that she at least had one friend that would always remain by her side no matter what.

Unaware of a dark figure that now stared at the two Imprints ever since Adam came up to the room to calm his daughter down.

As Adam and Red continued to sleep throughout the night, the figure slowly walked up towards Red and stared at her with sympathic eyes and slowly reached out for her when another figure stopped her.  She turned as saw a male figure standing beside her with his hand wrapped around her wrist with a disapproving scowl on his face.

“Oh come on”.

“No darling, you know we cannot interfere with them, if we get involve with any other monsters, then people will riot and want to exorcist us as well as kill them. We can only just stand back and watch” the male said to the woman then he gestured for her to follow him as he then disappeared from view.  The woman looked down at Red with sad eyes then looking from side to side, she gently touched Red’s forehead to give her a small piece offering then she disappeared from beside the bed.

Red’s face cringed as she began moaning softly and panting heavily as she began to have a terrible vision that the ghost girl left behind for her to see.

Fire.

That’s the first and only thing that Red saw.

Fire everywhere.

She heard screaming from about 20 to at least 50 people crying and begging to be released from the burning house.  All she could see were people burning and could actually smell the flesh of their own skins burning with them.  Red couldn’t bare to see this awful sight and tried to look away when a figure jumped right at her and that’s when she awoke.

She shot up panting lightly gasping for air as sweat rolled down from her brow.  Her breathing clamed down when she felt her father stir and say,

“Red? What is it darling?” She looked up at him with frightful eyes and said.

“Daddy, what did the villagers say about this house?”

“What do you mean?”

“Dad I think….I think something or someone just showed me what happened to this house?”

“But how? That’s impossible isn’t it?”

“I mean, if Vampires and werewolves exist, what else does?” Adam and Red looked at each other frightendly then Adam brought his daughter close to his chest and said as he stroked down her hair.

“Please tell me that whatever it was that gave you that vision, didn’t hurt you in it”.

“No, I just saw a house burning, uhh this house I think. People were screaming, begging to be let out. I could smell the flesh burning from the fire and the stench it produced. Oh god it was the most gruesome sight I’ve ever seen. It looked like the people who burned it didn’t want those people to leave the house as it burned to the ground—why do people have to be so cruel?” She lightly sobbed the last part out as she looked up at her dad.

“I don’t know darling, that’s one answer I wish that I knew. But I promise you this, I won’t allow anything nor anyone hurt you ever again, I promise I’ll always be here and do whatever I can to protect you”.

“Same goes for you too”.  They smiled at each other softly then Adam kissed his daughter’s forehead and the two laid back down cuddling close to each other while two eyes stared at them lovingly with a gentle smile across her lips.

The next few days would go by the same for Adam and Red, they remained active at night going to pubs so as to not seem secretive to the paranoid villagers, Red would keep getting visions of that fire burning the house, and more importantly she would always see this couple holding each other close as the house burned then the girl would stare right at Red before a burned, disfigured person would launch at her screaming in agony with flames licking her body.

Red would sometimes lose sleep because she was so scared from the constant dreams of feeling herself trapped in that same building as all those people and watching them burn till they were nothing but ashes.  Adam would try to calm his daughter’s worries and fears and even use his magic to try and block out the nightmares but everytime she tried to sleep, the dream would repeat itself.

Then one night, all would soon be revealed to them.

Adam had left the house to stack up their blood supply since they were almost out, leaving Red in the house and under a protective barrier spell so that she could catch up on some sleep, hopefully thinking that the thing that’s been giving Red these dreams won’t get through the shield and bother her with those dreams again.

As Red slept, all seem to be calm and quiet as she slept peacefully, thinking that the barrier spell her dad had formed around her had stopped the dreams, until she suddenly heard a thump downstairs.  Red’s eyes shot open and she quickly shot her head up and her sensitive hearing took place as she began to hear the sound of footsteps from the basement.

“Dad? Is that you? Daddy?” Red called out as she stood up and walked out of the room and headed towards the basement.  As she walked down the steps, she began to feel that unnerving shiver up her spine as she began to remember that it was down here she saw the couple burning.

“Hello? Dad is that you? Come on I know you’re one for tricks but this has gone too far! Come on out and don’t you even think about scaring me!” She suddenly heard a creepy creaking sound from behind her making her turned around frightendly.  “Come on Adam this isn’t funny anymore just come out please!” Her voice quivered with fear as well as anger when she suddenly heard a snap from above and a pillar was heading right towards her before she could scream or even react, the pillar hit her smack down on her head knocking her unconscious.

Red moaned as her vision began to fuzzy and she could’ve sworn she now saw a female figure standing over her, until finally her vision turned black.

When Red awoke, she saw that she was in another part of the room she had never seen before, laying on a old bed with a pillow supporting her head.  Oddly enough she felt no pain in her head, nor any feeling for that matter.  As she slowly sat up she took notice of the room she was now in.  She appeared to be up in the attic that had always seemed to be locked, it had a dresser, a mirror, a wardrobe and a full screen window to see from the top of the house that looked out over the entire village.

“Oh thank goodness you’re awake, are you alright?” Red suddenly turned around and her eyes widened.

Standing before her was a girl well more like woman.  Younger woman probably around her very early 30’s, blonde hair that waved down past her shoulders but was untamed, wearing the casual Scottish middle class attire, honey like eyes almost like Red’s but warmer and kinder, her skin was slightly tan but something about her didn’t read that she was alive.

Red just stared at this woman with wide eyes and cautiously said.

“Who—who are you”

“Well no need to be afraid. We’re pretty much the same now you and I”.

“What so you mean? I’m a hybrid not some—” Red stopped to retrace her steps thinking about what had happened before she woke up and remembered the rubble coming down onto her and she felt fear.  “Oh no, no, no, no I—I can’t be—”

“Can’t be what?”

“Dead. Not like living dead but dead-dead”.

“Not quite, I just pulled your soul out of you so you could see the truth” the woman stated.  Red looked at her in confusion.

“What—what do you mean? What truth unless—” Red stopped pacing around and slowly turned towards the woman who was now sitting on the dresser and put two and two together as she stated.  “You’re the one I’ve been seeing in my dreams”.

“Well it’s about time or you might not have believed when the village told you of ghosts haunting this house” the woman said with a slight grin.  Red just stared at her in shock then the woman waved her hand as she said cheerfully with a smile and a soft chuckle “hello”.

Red couldn’t help but feel slightly faint.

“Oh Gods—”

“Look at you, Werewolf-Vampire hybrid turned ghost, not every day one person gets to be three well known monsters’ huh Red?” The woman cooed softly.

“You know me?” Red turned to towards the ghost girl but saw that she wasn’t there until she turned back around and there the ghost girl stood as she said hauntingly.

“I feel you, all of you”.  Red jumped back screaming until she felt arms wrap around her and saw that she was in the ghost girl’s arms.  “Your feelings, your thoughts, jangling around in that pretty little head of yours. I’ve heard your recent wish of wanting a friend. And so here I am”.  The ghost girl turned Red around so that they were facing each other with her arms still wrapped tightly around Red’s waist.

“What’s your name?”

“Rose. Rose Tyler”.  The ghost woman introduced herself now as Rose Tyler.

“So, you were the one who gave me those dreams?”

“Yes, I was. My husband thought that I shouldn’t get too involved with you but you deserved to know the truth of this place, and I wanted to grant you your wish, for a girl friend, if you’ll want it?”  Red looked up at Rose and said.

“I wouldn’t mind, I mean at least we both have something in common, the fact that humans despise us and think of us as monsters even though they don’t know us”.  Rose smiled and stroked Red’s cheek lovingly.

“That does always seem to make my heart break too, well it would if I were still alive” she softly giggled then she stepped away from Red and just looked outside over the village.

“If I may ask Rose, what happened to you? I mean—I know I saw how you died through those dreams you’ve given me but, what was the motive?” Rose remained silent and quickly turned towards her new friend.

“I think it’d be best if we go somewhere else and talk about this, the others including my husband never talk about it anymore”.  Rose quickly walked up towards Red and took her hand and ran towards the wall.

“Wait Rose! Wall! Rose stop!” Rose phased through the wall and surprising to Red she did as well and soon she took notice that she was floating as well.  Red shrieked and held tightly onto Rose.

“It’s alright Red, you’re a ghost now you can fly, you don’t have to worry about turning into anything to keep you up in the air”.  Red looked up at Rose and the two of them began to fly high into the air over the village and towards the Loch.  As Red flew with Rose by her side, she had began to think of her rides on her dad in his wolf form and it didn’t even come close to the actual feeling of flying.

Even though she’s flown before in an animal form, she never got to feel it in her normal state before, and she couldn’t help but feel free as a bird as her and Rose flew over the Scottish country side.

They stopped at a high cliff’s edge that overlooked the entire Loch and the two girls began talking about their personal lives of how everything in their life came to this point in time.  Red told Rose about how she grew up in the New world with her Granny, how she met Adam and found her Imprint, the regrets she’s had with killing before she could control the Wolf and one she truly regret was killing her own mother in defense for her new father, and Rose said silent the entire time as comforted her new friend when she felt the time was right.

While Rose told Red of how she met Daniel by an arranged marriage between his father and her mother when they were just children, she told her of how her and Daniel grew up to be the best of friends until finally they married but a few days into their marriage when they settled in the house, a revolution started and some of the family members from Daniel’s family became a part of it and the enemy burned their new mansion to the ground, burning her, Daniel and their families to the ground to suffer for it.

After both their sob stories, Red then asked Rose.

“So then why did Daniel tell you that you couldn’t interact with me if we’re both monsters to them?”

“It wasn’t him but his father who declared it to every ghost in that house to not interact with any person who entered the house. He believes they will exorcist us if they found out ghosts were actually living in there. And since you and your father are hybrids who are well known to the world from Dracula’s cult as you’ve told me, should the village find that out they’ll kill you both for sure. And I didn’t want that to happen to my newest best friend”.  Red looked at Rose in shock and Rose looked at her with a gentle smile.

The older ghost took the hybrid ghost’s hand in hers and the two of them stayed silent.

“I’ve always dreamed of a new life for me and my dad if things were different. If we weren’t monsters and just—normal”. Red stated as she laid down on the grass looking up into the stars.

“And what have you dreamed of for your father and you?” Rose stated as she laid down beside Red and held her close.

“We would probably live in a safe village where no superstitious acts run their lives. A warm dinner would be cooking by the fire, Adam and I would be cuddling together by the fire on the bed, maybe have a few pets like a dog or something, and snow”.

“Snow?”

“Yeah snow, winter is my favorite season, and we’ve even made a tradition for ourselves before the night of my turn, that every first snowfall of Winter, we will go out and dance together as Imprints. And so far we have, I love my dad so much, I would do anything to protect him. I just wish this Dracula and his cult would just leave us alone so that way we wouldn’t have to be living in fear everywhere we go”.

“Mmm, maybe that will happen someday. I’ve seen how you and your father are and I can tell that you love each other very dearly, and just like you he’s doing this to protect you. He probably never even meant to have you involved in this to begin with, so he’s trying his best to protect you from Dracula and his cult; Never doubt him, and always stay by his side”.

“I will Rose, I’ve already made that promise”.  Rose smiled and gently kissed Red’s temple as she held her friend close to her.  As Red began to slightly doze off she suddenly shot up and cried out.  “OH MY GOD MY DAD!!! HE’S PROBABLY HOME BY NOW!!!” Rose shot up too and said.

“Come on, let’s hurry back and get you back in your body!” Rose and Red took each other’s hands and Rose teleported them back to the house and as they floated above the basement Red saw her body lying motionless almost dead in Adam’s arms as he was sobbing trying to get her to wake up.

“I guess this is goodbye then?” Red asked.

“Not quite, you’ll be able to see me after this even when you get back into your body, and now that you’ve seen me and know the truth of this house, I’ll take back those dreams so you can sleep peacefully”.  Red smiled and thanked her new friend with a hug.  Rose smiled and returned the tight hug then Red floated down towards her body and adjusted herself to fit her body’s position but not before looking up at Rose one last time seeing her smile happily and lovingly at her and waving goodbye before finally sinking her soul back into her body.

As Red opened her eyes in a gentle flutter, she then felt a slight pain in her head as she moaned out.

“Ow my head”.

“Red! Oh thank God your safe!”  Adam exclaimed as he held her tighter and kissed all over her face repeatedly making Red groan and try to pry herself away from her dad as she assured him that she was alright unaware that Rose was still watching them with a gentle smile until she then decided to fade away back into the shadows.  Adam picked his daughter up bridal style and took her back to their room where he then frantically began pampering her to make sure she was alright even though Red kept constantly telling him that she was fine but like a frantic mother hen he would not listen.

“Dad really I’m fine now okay my head’s fine now okay so stop worrying about me”.

“But Red when I walked in and didn’t find you sleeping in the living room I began to grow worried, I thought— and when I saw you in the basement I thought that—” he trailed off and took a deep breath making Red understand.  He thought that the cult had came in, finally found them and took her away but when he saw her lying motionless on the basement floor, he began to think that they came in and killed her by forcing the ceiling to come down on her.  “You were like that when I found you an hour and a half ago when I came back, I didn’t know what happened to you I thought—”

“Dad, it’s okay. No one from the cult came and attacked me, you can stop your worrying, I’m fine now see? I’m okay, no one is taking me away from you”.  Red said motherly as she lifted his chin up and stroked his cheek.

“You know it’s usually me who comforts you, but I guess it seems Mother Wolf has finally decided to step up her game”.  Adam said with a soft smile making Red laugh softly and kiss her father’s head as she brought him close to her in a comforting embrace as Adam buried his face into her neck letting her long brown hair gently tickle his face as he inhaled her scent softly.

“Even Papa Wolf needs someone to comfort him, not everyone is strong enough Adam, never feel like you’ve got to be strong for me. I’ll always love you and know you did your best to protect me, because you’re my father and nothing can get pass the Power of the Father”.  Adam smiled and kissed his daughter’s cheek and whispered in her ear.

“When did my little girl become so wise and grown up?”

“It’s a gift I guess” Red teased then laughed softly as her and Adam continued to hold each other for a while longer.

“But darling are you sure you’re alright?”

“Yes, yes I am. I’m fine, and I think I won’t be having those dreams anymore”.  Adam separated from her in shock and asked her.

“How can you be so sure?”

“Let’s just say, a new friend of mine took care of that”.  Red said as she leaned back against the bed and looked up at the ceiling thinking of Rose.

The next few days passed by and Red and Rose could visit each other whenever Rose could find an opportunity to see Red and Red would make sure Adam wasn’t in the house at the time or busy doing his own thing like looking out for hunters or just being on his own.  Rose and Red soon became so close that they considered each other sisters and one day Rose finally convinced her husband Daniel to come and see Red.  At first Daniel was a bit uneasy but after awhile, he warmed up and began to think his father was wrong and visit with Red whenever his wife did.

Daniel told Red about his life as an aristocrat with his family being one of the most wealthiest family in Scotland.  And through all of this, Red tried to convince Adam of the two ghosts she had been meeting with and told him about their story but Adam didn’t quite seem to believe that these ghosts were friendly.  Spirits who haven’t parted are cunning and elusive, they only want you to think they are kind until they steal your soul or nearly kill you, according to what he remembers from his friend Khan telling him about lost souls.

Red refused to believe it and begged and begged for Adam to see reason but in turn that only made him twice as protective and he even began to forbid these spirits for contacting her by sealing her in a protective incantation seal.  Adam currently left to go out hunting for some meat while he had Red on ‘lockdown’.  As Red sat there pouting Daniel and Rose came to her but retreated back a bit from the incantation spell Adam was using to keep them out.

“What happened?” Daniel asked.

“My dad thinks you guys are trying to hurt me so he has me on lockdown till I admit that there’s no ghosts here and go back to the way things were before”.

“What? But that’s not fair!” Rose exclaimed.

“I know but he won’t listen to reason. I swear that old timer is as blind as a bat when it comes to me wanting other people in my life”. Red grumbled.  They all sat in silence until Red’s mischievous little mind came up with a plan.  “Wait, I got an idea! But I’m gonna need both of your help”.

“Tell us what to do”.  Rose stated with a grin then Red began telling them the plan for when Adam comes back, they were gonna scare him to believe ghosts were here and that these two didn’t mean any harm.

When Adam returned with a full sized buck, he called out to Red telling her he was home with fresh meat before Wolf’s time, but when he received no answer, he began to grow worried.  He walked up the stairs into their bedroom where he had her locked up in the incantation circle, seeing her lying motionless once again but this time a pool of blood was around her.

Adam froze with fear as he cancelled out the incantation and cried out for his daughter.  Shaking her and crying out her name repeatedly as he prayed to God above that she really wasn’t dead.  When he felt no pulse, he couldn’t believe that he had gained another daughter just to lose her again.  It was then he began to hear faint whispers around the room.  He held onto Red’s corpse tighter and tried to hold in his screams begging for the spirits to leave him and his now deceased daughter be.  It wasn’t until he felt a presence beside him that felt colder even than he was, he slowly turned and there stood Rose and Daniel staring down at him with soulless almost white and gold eyes.

“Boo” they both said hauntingly making Adam let out a loud, terrifying scream as he backed away from the two ghosts.

“Y-y-you….you both did this?”

“We have our ways around incantations” Daniel said hauntingly.

“But how?”

“That’s for us to know and for you to never find out, now your daughter has paid the price for your ignorance” Rose stated as her eyes glowed soulless gold.  “Are you afraid of the grim-grim ghosts Henry the V?”

“I don’t go by that name anymore!”

“That’s the name in your head, and now we have your daughter for all eternity”.

“No. No please, you can’t have her, return her to me I’ll do anything you command just please return my baby to me!” Adam begged as tears formed in his eyes.

“Anything?” A female voice said from behind Adam.  He slowly turned and there stood his daughter’s ghost with a sad and lonesome look in her eyes.  She looked at him as if he had betrayed her and left her to this fate.

“Oh my darling—yes anything just to have you back, I’ll do it for you please darling tell me what I can do to make it up to you”.

“Well—you could…..turn to them and admit that you believe that they are good ghosts after all”.  Adam nodded and turned to Daniel and Rose and said.

“Spirits beyond the grave, I freely admit to you that I believe what my daughter has told me of what you are. I am sorry for ever doubting your existence”.

“Now say ‘I’m an idiot’ while waving your arms back and forth”.  Red said trying not to laugh.  Just before Adam could say it he stopped and turned to her and saw how his daughter’s ghost was trying so hard not to laugh and samething for Daniel and Rose.  Soon they just couldn’t hold it in anymore and began to laugh hysterically.

Adam was beyond confused.

“What the hell is this?”  Daniel, Rose and Red’s laughter slowly died off then Red said.

“Got yah! Now you believe me?”

“Wait so—all of this….a trick?”

“Coming from the daughter of Mischief herself, with the help of Lord Daniel Mcashton and his wife Rose Tyler”. Red said as she went back into her body and woke up and made the fake blood disappear from her and the floor.  “I told you there were ghosts here and that they weren’t trying to hurt me. I’m sorry dad but scaring you was the only way to get you to believe me”.

Adam was speechless as he stared at his daughter standing next to the tow ghosts who each wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“Unbelievable. I’ve been out-tricked by my own daughter, but that still wasn’t a good thing to do young lady, you scared me to death, no offense”.

“Ahh none taken, besides what wouldn’t you do to help a new friend out eh?” Daniel said as he nudged Red close to him with a grin and Rose smiled softly as she cuddled close to Red’s other side.

“Indeed, you’d do anything for them” Adam said as he took his daughter back into his arms and held her close.

Few days passed and Adam got to know of Rose and Daniel and pretty soon the Imprints and the ghost couple became really good friends with each other and always hung out every night together.

Rose, Red, Adam and Daniel were currently outside a few miles away from the house curled up by a fire place just cuddling together telling stories to each other and singing by the fire.  Rose and Daniel even shared with their new friends the day of their wedding and the day they created a song and dance, even teaching it to Adam and Red themselves so that they could even use it to cheer each other up.  They were all having such fun when it suddenly had to be cut short.

A flaming arrow came shooting out of the sky towards Red.

“Red look out!” Adam cried out as he unsheathed his sword and deflected the flaming arrow away from his daughter.  It was then they heard the villagers crying and horses stampeding towards them.

“How did they find out?”

“It’s the cult. We need to move somewhere else, they’ve found us!” Adam urged his daughter onward as the villagers got closer towards them.

Adam quickly got on top of the Shire horse they bought and helped Red on behind him.  They turned towards Rose and Daniel and Red held out her hand but Rose told them.

“Go! We’ll take care of them!”

“No Rose, Daniel we won’t leave you! They’ll exorcist you guys!”

“It doesn’t matter! Just head down to the Loch my father has a ship for you guys ready to depart to Sweden. Go now!” Daniel exclaimed as he and Rose stepped back from the horse.

“But what are you guys going to do?” Adam questioned.

The two ghosts looked at each other then at the villagers who had regarded their names in fear and some who were the ancestors of those responsible for burning down their house and killing them.

The two ghosts who fell in love, and burned into Hell fire’s gate.

“We’re giving the Imprints a head start” they both said grimly then Rose slapped the horse’s rear making it whinny and take off running as Red looked back sadly at her new friends wondering and fearing what was going to happen to them.

‘Red, no matter what you hear, don’t listen. You and Adam cover your hears and block out what you will hear’ Rose’s voice said in her head.

“Dad cover your ears!”

“What?!”

“Just do it! Rose said so just do it!” Red leaned against her dad’s back and covered her ears just as Adam leaned up against the horse and covered his.  Daniel and Rose’s eyes glowed hauntingly as they turned towards the rioters and ran as fast as they could.

Then appearing before the villagers were a young couple with haunting faces whose eyes glowed pure red, their mouths opened so long and so wide they looked like they were going to swallow them whole, fangs as large and long as swords, and they let out a piercing scream so loud that it could send shivers up a ghost’s spine.

The villagers screamed in fear as Adam and Red continued to run onward towards the Loch.

As they reached the Loch sure enough Daniel’s father Robert was there with bags of supplies no doubt that will take care of them.

“Here. This boat will take you to Sweden, there you should find my sister Belle, she’ll help you both settle in”.

“Thank you Robert, for all that you’ve done for us”.  Adam said in gratitude.

“No Adam, thank you and your daughter. For showing me the error of my ways, I promise you we’ll be fine. I’ll back them up to make sure nothing happens to them”.  Adam nodded then the two father exchanged a firm handshake then Robert vanished away.

Adam turned to his daughter to see her looking back towards the path they took to get away from Rose and Daniel.  He knew this had to be hard for her, to finally gain friends only to lose them within a week’s time.  Now Red would have to go back to isolation and secrecy to make sure her and her father were safe.  With a sigh, he slowly walked up towards her and placed his hands on her arms gently stroking down them.

“They’ll be fine Red, Robert is seeing to it that the villagers don’t hurt them”.

Red only remained silent.

Adam sighed again and kissed the back of her head as he pulled her close to him.

“Why does life have to be so cruel?” Red murmured into her father’s chest.  “I finally get friends only to be separated from them again. I wish the cult would just come and kill me just so I could stay with them and protect them!”

“And leave me to defend myself?” Adam retaliated.  Red looked up at her father and stammered.

“No-no I didn’t—I mean I…..”

“I know Red, I know” he whispered as he cradled her head and held her close.  The boat whistled then the two of them used their magic to conceal themselves as they snuck onboard and headed below deck.

Red nuzzled into her father’s chest as they rested below deck when Red whispered.

“Will we ever see them again?”  Adam not wanting to get her hopes to high but at the same time not wanting her to think she’ll lose her new friends tonight, he simply stated.

“I hope so Red, I really hope so. For now rest my darling, we have a long journey ahead of us, sleep my little one. Sleep”.  He cooed as he rocked her back and forth stroking her head and giving her as much comfort as he could.

An end of one adventure and the beginning of another, soon Adam and Red will face more obstacles that come there way, maybe even face their past on their next journey to find home.
