Chapter 22
Luci was smiling brightly as she walked into the apartment building. She got a call from Peter and quickly answered it.
"Hey, Peter!"
"Hey Lucinda."
She noticed that Peter sounded upset.
"Is everything okay?"
"Luci I... I think we should take a break... I don't know if this is working."
Lucinda froze as tears filled her eyes.
"Take a break, l-like from being heroes?"
"I mean us. I don't know if us being together is working out."
Lucinda started to tremble and she felt her knees get weak.
"B-but-"
The call ended and Lucinda fell to the ground in the middle of the lobby, crying her heart out.
"I-I... what did I do wrong?"
Luci quickly scrambled up, going to the elevator. As soon as she got to the floor Peter was on, she dashed to the Parker's apartment. She dashed in and went straight to Peter's room to see him with his head on his desk.
"Peter! Please! Don't do this! I'm so sorry! I don't know what I did but I promise I'll fix it! Please don't leave me! I-I can't lose you!" Luci trembled slightly, terrified that this was truly it, that she really just lost Peter forever.
"Luci... you are so distant... you don't have time for me... I want this to work but I at least want some of your attention... but I'm not as important and that's okay, I just can't take you ignoring me anymore. I'm sorry but I think we need a break from each other," Peter looked at her, tears trickling down his cheeks.
Luci's heart shattered into a million pieces. "I-I didn't think... I'm really sorry... I got so caught up in planning and I-"
"Planning?"
"I-I... I had a surprise for you... I wanted it to be special b-but... I'm so so sorry... I-I'll go..."
Luci left to room, darting out of the room.
"Luci! Wait!" Peter ran after Luci immediately.
'It's all my fault! I love him! Why am I so stupid?!'
Luci trembled harshly as she thought about Peter. She wanted to be in his arms, feel his lips on her, and most of all, she just wanted to be his.
'Everything was gonna be perfect today... I was so excited... I can't believe I just ruined everything with Peter... I was just trying to be a good girlfriend but I was awful... I hate myself... I was trying so hard... I'm the worst person ever...' She screamed at herself.
Peter shot a web at Luci's back to stop her just as she was about to leave the apartment, pulling her to her which caused her to yelp.
"Wait! What do you mean you had a surprise?"
"I-I wanted to do something special for your birthday but I ruined everything... I just wanted to make you happy... I-I didn't know I was hurting you... I'm so sorry I was such an awful girlfriend... I've been trying so hard to be perfect so that you never wanted to leave me but n-now we aren't together... I was so afraid of you leaving me but I'm the reason you don't want me... it's all my fault and I'm so sorry..." Luci sniffed as she looked at the ground.
"I do want you, Luci. I want you more than anything in the universe I just... I thought that you didn't want me anymore because you were distancing yourself from me," Peter said softly as he pulled her against him gently.
"I was spending time with my brother and my cousin but for the past almost two weeks, we've been planning a huge surprise for you and I was planning my own surprise... I left you notes every day... but it wasn't enough I guess..."
"Notes? I never received any notes," Peter said which made Luci frown in confusion.
"They're on your fridge. I thought you were getting them since every day the one from the previous day was gone..."
"I'm so sorry... I didn't realize that you were doing something for me. I don't want to leave you, Luci. I never did. I was just afraid. Please, forgive me," Peter held her tight.
"I don't have to forgive you for anything. I need you to forgive me. I was such an awful girlfriend..."
"That's not true, I just didn't know what you were planning. I'm never letting you go ever again," Peter promised, scolding himself for not listening to May and having faith in Luci.
He knew that he shouldn't have done what he did. Of course Luci would spend all her time with her brother and her cousin. If he had a twin that he hadn't seen for years, he wouldn't probably spend all his time with his twin. He was so attached to Luci though. Even when they were toddlers through growing up they were pretty much attached at the hip. Whenever she was away from him for an extended period of time, he became bored and missed her so much.
"I overreacted l and I'm sorry," Peter murmured as he gently made her look at him.
Peter kissed Lucinda and she responded immediately, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He missed this feeling so much. He ran a hand through her hair gently and kept her close.
Luci played his his curls as they kissed, enjoying every second with Peter.
Peter stood up, picking Luci up as well. He went onto the couch, letting her lay on top of him.
Luci smiled into the kiss and rested a hand on his chest while the other hand continued to play with his adorable curls.
"Your dad would flip is he saw us," Peter murmured against her lips to which made Luci giggle.
"Probably but I wouldn't care. I wish we could stay like this forever," Luci pulled away only slightly.
She could could feel Peter's warm breath on her face. Her eyes were still closed, their lips only mere millimeters apart.
The moment was perfect and Luci wished the moment never ended.
Peter moved first, pressing his lips to hers.
Luci felt so special and knew that she couldn't live without Peter. Even when they were just friends, Luci needed Peter. She wanted to tell him that she loves him but the moment had to be perfect.
Then she remembered what she had originally come for.
She gasped and pulled away. "I forgot. I was coming to tell you to get dressed into something nice."
Peter chuckled and nodded, pecking her lips one last time before they got up.
"Meet me at Stark towers." Luci said as Peter walked back to his room.
"Got it, see you there."
He got ready, thinking he would beat her there.
He got on some nice pants and a light blue dress shirt. He put on some nice shoes, smiling as he grabbed the ring from his desk drawer.
"Best birthday ever."

Luci got dressed and got into her uncle's car. She did her make up in the car and was ready by time they got to the tower.
She was still a bit shaken from what happened but she was so happy that everything was perfectly fine.
She ran into the tower and went to the room where everything was set up.
"What took you so long?" Orion nudged his sister.
"She probably decided to makeout with her boyfriend first," Hunter teased and chuckled when he saw Luci blush.
"Well it was more than that but you aren't wrong..."
"I don't want to know," Orion immediately thought about weird things.
"Nothing like that, Oreo!"
"Hey! You didn't give context!"
Hunter laughed at them. "Calm down, you two."
Luci huffed but smiled. "Alright. Now let's wait. Peter should be here soon."
Luci waited with a bright smile, ready for Peter to walk in any minute.
