The one year anniversary of Rae's coronation as queen brings hundreds of men from all over the world. They come in the hopes of winning over Rae's heart and asking for her hand in marriage. I just hope none of them have a better argument than myself.
But of course, they have much more to offer her than I.
Rae spent the previous evening remembering the horrors of the first year of her reign. She spoke about them in length starting with the insurrection at her wedding ceremony which left many dead and nearly left her kidnapped. Her kid brother Henry's tragic death was also a large part of the conversation at dinner. She spoke fondly of him. She told our son of the significance of his name. King Phillip's death was a small part of the evening but I could tell she wished to discuss it further. He left a rather large impression on her life. With her mother's treasonous crimes having her put to death, Rae thought for a long time that she was not worthy of holding the crown. She felt horrid after killing her own blood.
And even after all that, Rae still wanted to discuss the most recent attempt on her life and our son's which very nearly succeeded, leaving the castle to the band of rebels for far too long.
She stares off into space as a young man from Germany talks her ear off. She responds only with short sentences until he ultimately runs off.
I play with Henry in the corner of the room. She brought him along today so he could meet many of the nobles he will soon have to deal with on a daily basis. Though, she did say she plans on keeping him away from any royal duties for much longer than she was.
Henry stumbles with his feet as he is still mastering the art of walking. He laughs and reaches for my hands.
I look up and find Rae looking back at me. She winks and quickly diverts her eyes.
Though our affair is public now, things are still not easy for us in the slightest. Telling the people our secret only ensured that everyone knows of our love now. We are no longer a secret. It has been nothing short of a nightmare since Rae told the noblemen about us.
I begged her not to do it. I knew it would be catastrophic in the end. I was right. But she is my soulmate so I will continue this fight with her.
