King Henry

Victoria bursts into the dining room while Serena and I are eating our freshly cooked meals.

"I need your ear tonight, Henry. You are never going to believe the day I've had!" She moans before slumping down in her chair. I glance at her and back at Serena. I am quite positive that Victoria has not noticed she is here yet.

She looks up and locates the stranger in the room. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize anyone would be joining us for dinner this evening."

"Actually, I thought lady Serena and I would eat alone." I clear my throat after breaking the news to my sister.

"Oh," she frowns. "Oh!" She quickly realizes what is going on in here.

"Alright then. Well, I will tell you about getting shot at later, then. Enjoy your dinner. I'll go eat with Sir Ashton tonight."

"Victoria wait!" I call out for her. How can she expect me to just ignore the fact she was shot at today. Why kind of brother would I be if I ignored that? What kind of king?

"Enjoy your dinner." Victoria smile, knowing the little bit of information she dropped is going to drive me crazy.

I shake my head. "I'm terribly sorry for my sister's intrusion. I hope you are not offended."

"Do you want to go check on her?" Sierra asks.

I shake my head. "Victoria and I are very close but she can wait. If she was truly serious, she would have let me know."

"I am not so sure about that. She sounded pretty shaken up." She shrugs.

I nod. appreciate her concern but I know my sister. She is just messing with me. "Victoria is a tough girl. My mother raised her to be as such. She can last a little longer without me while we finish our meal." I explain.

Serena wipes her face with her napkin. "It's alright." She stands. "I was about to ask to he dismissed anyway. Thank you for the lovely dinner, your highness." She curtsies.

"Of course. Perhaps we could have dinner tomorrow?" I stand to match her.

She laughs. "Will you be knocking me to the ground again?"

"I do not plan on it. Though, I did not plan it the first time either." I smile, returning her playful energy.

"Well then I do not see a need for us to have dinner again. You will have nothing to make up for." She purses her lips together, making her way slowly to the doors.

I nod, putting the puzzle together in my head. I guess she is not interested in me. That is a shame because I am very interested in her.

"Well, will I be seeing you again?" I ask, hopeful that I can change her mind about me someday.

"I am sure you will see me around the castle. But then again, maybe not. It is quite large. Thanks again." She slips out of the room.

I smack myself in the forehead, wondering how I could have screwed that up so badly. I thought things were going so well.

Of course I could blame Victoria's interruption but I know she is not to blame. It seems like Serena had her mind made up before Victoria intruded on dinner.

I should go check up on Victoria. She did seem a little upset to me but it did not seem like anything urgent.

"Victoria?" I knock on her chambers doors before the hairdos posted outside let me in. "Oh Victoria." I sigh, finding her crying into her arms on her bed. I sit beside her.

"So you are replacing me at dinner now?" She asks, still obviously upset.

"I am doing no such thing." I shake my head.

She wipes tears from her eyes. "Then why did you not join me riding today? It's Thursday." She reminds me.

"Gosh, I totally forgot. I had a meeting-"

"Meeting meeting meeting. You always have meetings. But never on Thursday. Thursday's we ride our horses together and then have dinner." She raises her voice at me.

"I am so sorry Victoria. Time got away from me." I shake my head. "I didn't even realize it was Thursday until you just said it." I sigh. "I'm a disgrace of a brother."

"Hey, you said it, not me." She laughs, jumping off the bed. She wipes her eyes and forces a smile. "It's all good anyways. We can find another day. You need a Queen so I understand not being your number one anymore."

"You will always be my number one, Victoria. Besides, it does not seem like that girl will be my Queen after all." I shrug, playing with a ring on my finger.

"Oh, Henry! What happened?" She pouts.

"She just isn't interested I guess." I shrug. "She couldn't get out of that room faster."

Victoria scoffs. "Well then she has no taste! You don't need her anyways."

"Alright then, enough about my pitiful love life. What happened to you today?"

"Okay so picture this, I am riding my horse. Alone!" She glares at me. I raise my hands in defense. "And then suddenly, Bang! I swear to god, Henry, the bullet buzzed right past my head. It nearly hit me!" She shouts, pacing back and forth in front of me. "It spooked poor Butterscotch so bad! She started going mad!" She waves her hands around, telling the story as vividly as she can. "And then Henry- I couldn't make this next part up if I tried. This total beefcake of a man mounts his horse and pulls me off of mine. It was epic. He totally saved my life."

"Wow. Sounds like you were lucky he showed up."

"And then, as if it couldn't get any more epic, he kissed me!"

"It sounds like he is straight out of a movie, Vic."

"I! Know!" She screams.
