Fifty

"What do you want to do with him? It was your idea to take him!" Vespera asked Gisela.

"Look, we need something to bargain - he's just a part of a huge plan." Lady Gisela replied, annoyed and securing Grady's bonds.

"What plan?" Grady murmured.

"Whatever plan it is, it doesn't involved you," Vespera snapped, "and if it does, it involves you getting hurt. So if I were you, I'd sit there quietly and pity myself, but then again, I don't want to be you."

Sophie gasped. No, Grady didn't get lost. It was Vespera and Gisela who took him hostage.

There was a noise from the hole. She heard a "shut up," before the people (probably Dex and Tam) outside were quiet once more.

"Why is there a hole up there?" Vespera asked.

"What hole? There's probably no hole. Maybe it was a small animal of some sort," Lady Gisela snapped again, still trying to tie Grady's bonds as tight as it could go.

"Uhh, it looks like an elf could fit through the hole just fine," Vespera said, getting annoyed because she didn't like being bossed around any more than Gisela did.

Gisela walked closer to the hole, Sophie inching closer and closer to Tam and telling him to hide them in the shadows. He nodded.

"Should we go back up?" Sophie whispered to Tam.

"Wait... the rope's gone." Tam said.

"What do you mean the rope's gone?" Sophie asked.

"They probably took it because they heard that Gisela was looking up," Tam said.

"So... we're stuck here?" Sophie said, like a question.

"At least not alone. We're stuck with two evil woman, an alive father and no light other than from the hole. It could've been worse." Tam murmured to himself.

"We need to get out!" Tam said to Sophie.

"We need to get Grady," Sophie argued.

"We can go find the others before we come and get Grady. We can't just sit here and wait for Gisela and Vespera to get distracted." Tam said urgently.

"Fine," Sophie said. "But we're light leaping. Back to Havenfield."

"Havenfield? Why?" Tam asked, confused.

"We need to let the others know that my dad is okay. And because we can't teleport outside because I can't see a cliff around here. So we'll light leap to Havenfield, tell the others my dad is alright, and teleport of the cliff there back to where the rest of our friends are."

"O-kay." Tam said.

On one, two, three, Sophie thought.

And then they glittered away.
__________

(A/N: you actually thought I was going to end it here? Of course not!)

They stumbled onto the pastures of Havenfield. Edaline, who was looking out the window of the kitchen, quickly saw them and came running up to them.

"W-w-where is he? Is he alright? Does he need anything. Wait. Where is he?" Edaline continued shooting questions at both of them.

"I'll answer your questions, Mom," Sophie said and paused for a second, "later."

"Wait," Edaline called, "before you go, just tell me. Is he...?" The questioned lingered in the air for a few seconds before Sophie replied, "He's fine. Wait- no. He'll live, Mom. Don't worry." And as much as she didn't want to sound like Alden, she did.

She motioned Tam to follow her to the cliff.

"I hope he's fine." Sophie said quietly.

"I hope everyone is fine," Tam replied, "because very few people are these days. For instance, my sister."

Sophie cracked a rare smile. She took Tam's hand and jumped off the cliff.

(A/N: *sighs* I think I worded that wrong....)

She was going to save Grady from Vespera and Gisela.

(A/N: I really want to end it here. But I'm not going to for a reason.)
___________

"Why aren't they here?" Sophie asked, "They we're here before. I literally saw them here before we went down that hole!"

"Weeeell, we were gone for a pretty long time," Tam said, and it was true. Time seemed to fly by in the cave - they went in when the sun was shining and now it was sunset.

"Maybe they went over there," Tam pointed. Sophie shrugged and went with him.

"Nope," Sophie said, "no one here."

Then she gasped.

"Maybe they went down the hole. Maybe they wondered why we were gone for so long." Sophie said.

Then it hit her. All of the people she cared about were in the hands of two evil maniacs.

Without another word, she started sprinting. When she got to the hole, she waited for Tam to catch up before she jumped inside the hole, Tam following right after.

Sophie gasped at what she saw.

There were her friends, all tied up and gagged unconscious on the ground with Gisela and Vespera smiling triumphant smiles.

Things have to get worse before they get better.

But the sad truth was, Sophie wasn't sure it was going to get any better.
___________

I'm literally trying to kill these characters. *cough* sorry? *cough*

Weeeeell... I could've done something a LOT LOT worse, but I guess you guys aren't grateful. But at least be grateful I spared you from a bigger cliffhanger.

I wonder if any of you guys know me in real life... that would be so, so cool. Well, not really. But still.

Hi! Yes! We did it! We made it to chapter fifty!

(Wow, I feel like I'm proposing something. Like imma die tomorrow or something. Ugh, I worded it so weirdly.)

Please please let me know what your favorite plot twist was.
