Chapter 1: Night at the Museum

Wind blew against the stone walls of a museum late at night. A building filled to the brim with history and unseen magical properties. Few saw it for what it really was, a brilliant structure that enhances the minds of those who graced its vast halls.

At least that was how Taehyung saw things. After all, history was always something that had fascinated him and the rare mysteries of the past were something he desperately wanted to solve.

Luckily enough, he was gifted the opportunity to do so the day he saw the 'Help Wanted' sign by the museum doors. He had never applied for something quicker. His current job under his father as an assistant was decent but nowhere near fulfilling. It was drab, tiring and on top of that, he was underpaid. This, on the other hand, would provide satisfaction and more.

His first day had gone perfectly fine. A tour wasn't needed since Taehyung had visited every exhibit on his own more times than he could count. Before college, he would volunteer there during the summer, so he was familiar with the majority of staff as well. The only curveball came just before he was about to go home for the night.

He had made the mistake of staying late, lost in his own world, per usual. It was half-past nine when he looked at his watch and rushed out as quickly as possible, worried he'd be locked in. Just before Tae was able to exit the building, the security guard suddenly sprinted up to him. "Hey!" He exclaimed, earning the brunette's attention. The guard was slightly shorter than him, with bright eyes and a somewhat frantic look on his face. His tag read the name, Mark. "I have to run out for a few hours. There's been an emergency. Do you think you could watch the place for me?"

"Um..."

"Please, please PLEASE!" Well, how could Taehyung say no to that? With a sigh, he nodded, eliciting a happy cheer from the younger male who quickly tossed the keys at the poor man. He began to dash out the door, rambling a few words that sounded like they could have been important but he was speaking so quickly that Taehyung couldn't even dream of following along.

There he was, left to his own devices in a dark and empty museum. Realistically, this wasn't the best situation to be in and less than two minutes in, he was already scared out of his mind.

So he figured a little company would be nice.

"It's ten-thirty pm on a fucking Thursday."

"And yet you're still here."

Jimin and Yoongi were the first to come to his aid. Jimin was Taehyung's roommate and best friend. They had known one another since their freshman year in college and were actually rooming together then. Yoongi was a peer they had met along the way, the grumpy cat that kept the two extroverts grounded in reality.

Alongside them, was Seokjin, who rushed into the building with a smile on his face. "You sir, have just saved me one massive headache." He sat himself in the seat next to Taehyung, just behind the front desk, releasing a huff.

"And why's that?" Queried Yoongi, leaning across the object.

"My mother has been trying to invite me to dinner. Something about suitors? Who cares?" Huffed the eldest male, resting his head in his hand with a scoff. "There's not a single person in the world that can meet my standards. Especially not some random dusty man my mother pulled from her office."

None of them would understand his problems as the son of a CEO but they still sympathised with his dilemma. "Damn, imagine having men line around the corner for you. How unfortunate." Everyone expressed their sympathy in different ways and Jimin chose to show it through his snide remarks towards the oldest.

Taehyung rolled his eyes at the way his best friend acted, leaning closer to him, whispering, "Isn't one man enough for you?" Making Jimin shiver, not that he didn't mind his deep tone. That voice could work wonders, especially for the blonde, who smirked at him.

Yoongi didn't hesitate to groan at their antics and decided to take out his phone to text his boyfriend, Hoseok, about his location since he had run out of their apartment without saying anything to him. "Just fuck already," he muttered towards the flirtatious pair.

"Shush Yoongi, remember, we're supposed to act surprised when they tell us they're dating!" Both Seokjin and Yoongi shared a laugh over this, something less than appreciated by the younger two of the group.

Wanting to change the topic of conversation, Taehyung hopped to his feet and clapped his hands together. "Since you're all here, why don't I give you guys a tour of each exhibit? Free of charge!"

Yoongi glanced up from his phone to make a face. "Wow, you shouldn't have."

"We can start with-"

A loud crash in the distance interrupted him mid-sentence, with everyone in the group flinching at the sudden sound. Each of them turned their heads towards a dark hall, where they assumed the sound came from and Taehyung suggested they check it out. Assuming the noise had come from the storage closet, that was the place they travelled towards.

Jin and Jimin had their flashlights on, illuminating the eerie halls while Taehyung led them to their destination. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw that one of the figures near the door had simply fallen over.

Yoongi allowed his eyes to wander, whilst Taehyung checked to see if the figure had splintered and the other two remarked on how ghostly the building seemed at this hour. A light creaking noise garnered his attention, bringing it towards the storage room door. He eyed it curiously, asking, "Is that door supposed to be open?" and bringing everyone's focus towards it.

Frowning, Taehyung murmured how it shouldn't be. Before locking the entrance, he figured a quick peek inside could hurt and asked if anyone else wanted to look as well. They all agreed, keeping close to one another while trekking forward.

Being uncomfortable with the uncanniness of the room, Jimin stayed by Taehyung's side, hugging his waist for a semblance of comfort. The younger didn't protest this action and actually pulled him closer in response, keeping him there as he examined a worn pile of papers.

Dust swirled around the group while they made their way through the dingy room and Jin was the first to suggest they turned back. He found it to be greatly uncomfortable and something about this space made him wary. Unfortunately for him, he was denied as the others continued to search for something interesting.

From the corner of his eye, Jimin spotted something that intrigued him. Once removing himself from Taehyung, he made his way towards it curiously. "What's this?" He inquired, taking the strange object in his hands. It was wand-like, more akin to a small staff one could clip to their belt.

Aside from the hints of dust and dirt along its base, it seemed to be in decent condition, with no dents or holes in sight. Taehyung had noticed what he was holding and hummed. "That's the wand of Prince Jungkook," he explained. "He was the prince of a lost kingdom called Busan. Kind of like the city today but much cooler. Apparently, that wand is supposed to be magic."

His information and emphasis on this place's supposed wonder made Seokjin raise his brow. "Don't tell me you actually believe that," He gawked, placing his hands on his hips in disbelief. A statement to which Taehyung only shrugged.

Truth be told, he had always loved that period in history. There was so little history known about it. So little in fact, that some insisted it was all fantasy to begin with, while others suggested it may take place in an alternate universe. It was all very fascinating to him."I wouldn't be surprised," Taehyung whispered hopefully, having just a bit of his confidence shattered by how absurd it all sounded. "That era of history is practically nonexistent outside of a few paintings, sculptures and less than a handful of documents."

While this conversation was going on, Jimin and Yoongi were examining the wand. The younger of the two chuckled, waving it around while he proclaimed that 'He was a wizard', with Yoongi laughing along with him. All their snickering ceased, however, when the staff suddenly began to vibrate. "Um... Tae..."

He was a little too engrossed in his conversation with Seokjin to notice what was happening. It wasn't until the wand began glowing did both their heads swerve in their direction. "Oh god, what did you do?"

"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know! It won't get off of me!" Just as Jimin had exclaimed, the wand refused to leave his hands no matter how desperately they tugged at him. Soon enough, Yoongi, Taehyung and Jin were all pulling their hardest to get the object away from him to no success.

The longer they pulled, the more they began to notice that their conscience was fading. No matter how many times they attempted to blink themselves to life, there was little they could do to keep from falling into an impending realm of darkness. For all the group knew, they had fallen asleep right then and there.

When they finally came to, after only God knows how long, they were blinded by a bright sun intruding on their vision through the stained glass of the windows above them. Jimin was the first to regain his senses, wincing when he felt a blunt object continuously poke his back.

Though he groaned, he only got up when the light prodding turned to him being beaten from behind, the object smashing against him and bringing forth a cry of pain from the man. "I'm up! Just stop, Jesus Christ!" Ready to tune the stranger to no end, Jimin was smacked with a harsh reality check when he finally took in his surroundings.

Tall pillars, lavish rugs and a throne. They definitely weren't in the museum anymore. "Shit, guys... get up..."

Slowly, the other began to shift awake as well and when they did, they gasped. Seokjin's mouth hung open and all he managed to stutter out was a confused, "W-What? Where are we?"

Yoongi followed suit with a similar reaction. "This... This is..."

"The greatest moment of my life!" All except Taehyung were laced in shock and they looked at him like he was insane for it. Based on the circumstances, he might as well have been. Knights in heavy armour surrounded them, all with their swords drawn in their direction while most continued to look on in bewilderment.

They had to be in a throne room of some sort, a lavish and otherworldly building that Taehyung had only had the privilege of examining through ancient paintings. Only instead, the dais of which nothing resided now had a firm and tangible leader in its midst.

His hair, curled ever so slightly, hid his right eye away whilst his face held a fixed scowl. In his hand, he twirled the very wand that had put them in this situation to begin with. The gaze protruded was one of pure contempt, looking down at the crowd as if they were nothing but mere vermin waiting to be exterminated.

Finally, Taehyung took note of his surroundings, computing them until he had a concrete reaction to what was truly occurring and when he did, he wasn't sure to cry or cheer but gasped nonetheless.

"We're in the kingdom of Busan and that's... Prince Jungkook!"
