Growing up, Violet only had herself since her father was out drinking, working, and fucking-never was he there for Violet or her mother as a family man. Her mother would always go to church and ignore problems so she was never at home. When Edward was born, Violet's mother convinced herself that this was God's second chance but no. So Violet raised Edward since their parents couldn't bother themselves to.

One day when she was eighteen, Violet was out with some friends and tried the homemade recreational cocaine that her friend made. On her way home was a vampire nearby and turned Violet but instead of her becoming a normal vampire she became something more. She could go into the sun without sparkling, she was able to eat food still and her heart bested but slowly.
