To tick and tock
Minutes later, Na'eemah was indulged in her conversation with Ameer. She found out he's a lover of polo, he loves green, he's actually an introvert but free with certain people. She had a really good time getting to know him that she totally forgot about her cousin who sat down with her friend watching them. Her attention only snapped to them when a beautiful young lady walked in with a huge smile on her face as she went to engulfed Humaira in a hug.
"It's so nice to meet you" She spoke leaning down to hug Suhaila
"Raeesa always the one with the African time" Suhaila said rolling her eyes annoyingly
"So sorry Hun. Traffic" she said smiling sheepishly
"So Humaira you're here alone? Raeesa asked settling down next to them.
"Ahmm I actually come with my cousin here" Humaira said motioning to Naeemah as Raeesa's attention snapped to them
"Oh My Goodness, I'm so sorry I didn't see you there" Raeesa exclaimed standing up and coming to slightly hug Naeemah
"It's okay" Naeemah said smiling
"And there is my favourite cousin" Raeesa said nudging Ameer who shook his head with a smile
"How are you doing? He asked looking at her
"Ohh I'm doing fine. Something exciting Happened last week but I don't want to ruin your date so I'll call you later" She said with a wink walking over to Humaira
"Ahmm a date? Naeemah asked with a questioning tone
"I........I don't know"
"Oh! Na'eemah exclaimed with a wave of awkwardness
"I guess two people can't sit together without people thinking they're on a date. Even when they're talking about flying houses and crying monkeys" Ameer said trying to ease the tension
"Ohh my God........cr.....crying monkeys, that's.... That's a good one" Naeemah said in between laughs
Ameer sat down watching her laugh, he thought she was beautiful when he never saw her laugh, now he did and she's the most beautiful thing his eyes has ever set on.

"So how's Ameer? Humaira asked as they drove back home.
"He's good? Naeemah replied in a questioning tone
"I mean how's his company, did you guys vibe well?
"Ohh yes we did. I'm actually surprised, he's quite fun to be around"
"Don't judge a book by it's cover" Humaira said sending her a wink
"Yeah whatever" Na'eemah said laughing.
"And Mr Yaari, are you over him? Humaira asked cautiously
"What do you mean over him? Naeemah demanded with a scowl
"I mean your little infatuation, is it over now"
Naeemah looked at Humaira for a second before keeping quiet. After almost a five minutes of silence, she spoke
"Wait, what's with you and Mr Yaari. Do you like him? Na'eemah snapped
Humaira completely shocked sat speechless for a few minutes before speaking.
"What the hell is wrong with you Naeemah? I'M MARRIED FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Humaira Yelled
"Well it still doesn't stop some of you married women. If not that then why are you so hell bent on me not being with Mr Yaari?
"Before you start throwing accusations, know whom you're throwing at. I love my husband and I'm not trading him for anyone in this world, ever! And even if I haven't met Hafeez, Mr Yaari is the least in my list as I have a great taste"
Na'eemah hurt by humaira's words looked taken aback as Humaira realized her outburst and suddenly looked remorseful
"Look Naeemah, I'm so-
"No, you've said what was always on your mind. So you have great taste and I don't, you get to have a loving family, good reputation, hefty pockets, flashy cars, extravagant mansions and everyone else get to have a family that is okay, a 206 car, a little two bedroom apartment and a reputation circling within their neighborhood" Naeemah screamed breathing profusely
"First of all, don't you dare talk to me like that. Secondly I didn't mention anything about anyone not being greater than me. Naeemah you're acting like there aren't thousands or millions of people who live lavishly, who live double than I am. To top it all I'm also living moderately, you're exaggerating the cars and houses and you know that. Stop that mentality it's so petty of you"
"Is it Humaira, is it? Because I'm set to enjoy what you have and more!
"No one chooses his destiny and if you could only believe me, you'll know I want the very best for you. I want you to have more than what I have. I don't want you aiming at what others have but aiming at what you'll have.
"Lies, all lies. Listen, I'm doing my possible best to get with Mr Yaari. I like him and that's all"
"You don't like him, you like the idea of having him and you know that"
"So what? I still get him don't I?
"Na'eemah I want you to be happy. Is just that Mr Yaari never sits well with me, he always has this uncomfortable vibe around him. He's always sneaking around, at meetings and all. He acts suspicious, he gets money flowing in from unknown destinations"
"You don't judge a book by it's cover Humaira you just said that. And what do you know, he definitely will have other source of incomes
"I'm not judging okay, I just think Ameer will be better"
"Well this is my life, and no one wants to know about what you think is right or not"
The car fell to a complete silence as Humaira drove into Maami's home. She parked and unlocked the car waiting for Na'eemah to alight
"Tell Mami it's late, I'll come tomorrow" Humaira said looking ahead. Naeemah nodded feeling guilty of the argument they had. Humaira is her best cousin
"Listen Humaira I'm sorry okay. It's just that I want you to not take control of my life, leave everything to me and let me make a choice for myself"
Humaira turned to look at her cousin and smiled taking ahold of her hand " I know but I don't want to see you hurt. I don't want you to make a wrong decision and I just--
"I know and I'm so blessed to have someone who looks out for me. But whatever decision I make, let it be mine. If it's a good one, we rejoice together and if it's a bad one we cry together" Na'eemah replied with a laugh
"Okay" Humaira said joining in the laugh
"I promise to not talk to you about anyone or anything anymore. I'll only support you in whatever decision you take" Humaira added
"Thank you" Na'eemah said and leaned in to hug her
"It's late, I need to get back home before Hafeez starts bombarding me with calls" Humaira said with a laugh as Na'eemah alighted the car. She waved her good-bye and watched as her car drove out of the house.

After their dinner, Na'eemah watched a movie and decided to call it a night. She was about to sleep when she remembered humaira's words and decided to prove her wrong. She grab her phone and sent Mr Yaari a text
Hey, it's been a while. Want to meet and maybe talk, get to know each other more. I feel more comfortable knowing much more about someone.
After reading the text and making sure she didn't sound pathetic, she pressed the send button.
About half an hour later with her eyes glued to the ceiling listening to Damn by Omah Lay, his reply came in
Sure, meet me at Humaira's office.
Naeemah heaved a sigh knowing that's not what she's expecting but accepted it nonetheless, tomorrow she'll try her utmost best to get it to the next level with him.
This will work, it has to. She has to prove to Humaira that he isn't what she thinks he is and the time is going tick and tock
