Chapter 15: Je t'aime

Third-Person

Marinette woke up, hugging her cat pillow. It's been four days after Adrien's reveal. "Good morning Marinette...!" Tikki greeted. "Good morning Tikki, you seem to be in a good mood." Marinette told her kwami, sitting up. She could tell Tikki was blushing, but her blush wasn't really visible since she's normally red.

Tikki was in a good mood for one reason, and one reason only. Last night she actually wasn't asleep yet, so she felt Plagg kissing her forehead and sleeping beside her. "O-oh, it's nothing Marinette really..." Tikki stammered adorably, making Marinette giggle. Marinette needed no further explanation, she saw how excited Tikki was seeing Plagg four days ago. And the way Plagg looked at Tikki.

She could tell those two kwamis were madly in love, just like she and Adrien are. And of course, she shipped the two. She went down her bed. "Anyway...I saw this envelope on your desk." Tikki said, handing the envelope to Marinette, also trying to change the subject. The envelope had beautiful designs, Marinette felt something taped behind the envelope.

It was a beautiful rose. Marinette immediately knew it was Chat, he always gave her roses. That her vase was almost full of it, all red and pink. Marinette would never grow tired of the roses he would give her. She smiled, but put the envelope on her desk, about to read it after taking a quick bath and going to school.

She got ready, wore her purse Tikki was in, and went down to eat breakfast. "Bye maman." She waved goodbye to Sabine. "Bye papa." Marinette kissed Tom's cheek and made her way to school. "Hey girl!" Alya slid her arm around Marinette, walking to class. "Well, you're here early..." Alya teased. Marinette rolled her eyes, ignoring her statement. "Hey Alya, here's your history book I borrowed." Marinette unzipped her backpack and gave Alya the book.

"Thanks for letting me borrow, I couldn't have done my homework. How did you do it though?" She asked. "I know our history like I know you. It's easy." Alya answered, shrugging. "Dang, I wish I was as good at history as you are. It's basically my worst subject...!" Marinette spoke, putting her backpack under her desk. Alya did the same.

"You'll get better Mari, I'm sure." Alya encouraged, giving her best friend a reassuring smile. "I hope..." Marinette said. "Anyway, how are you and Chat Noir?" Alya asked. "Great, thanks for asking." Marinette beamed.

"Good morning Marinette, can we talk for a while?" Adrien asked, putting his bag down as Nino sat beside him. Marinette nodded, smiling sweetly, reminded of the unopened envelope. "Good morning ki- Adrien. Alya can I-?" Marinette questioned. "Go ahead." Alya said. Marinette and Adrien went out of the class. "Hey princess." Adrien gave her a quick kiss she returned.

"What was in the envelope?" Marinette inquired. Adrien smirked. "You'll have to figure that out after class." He winked, making her flush. "I have something to tell you." Marinette crossed her arms and his eyes widened.

Did he do something wrong?

"Alya knows about us. Like me and Chat Noir- er- you..." Marinette confessed. "What?!?" He whisper-shouted. "How?!?" Adrien exclaimed. "Calm down, you remember dropping me off behind the school? She saw and heard everything. But we don't need to worry, she promised not to tell anyone and I trust her." Marinette put him at ease.

Adrien sighed in relief. "Yeah, I guess we can trust Alya. But how can we date when I'm Adrien? She'll think you're cheating on me, with me." He questioned. "Simple, we tell her. I'm sure she won't tell anyone, plus she deserves to know." Marinette told him.

"Are you sure? Are we telling her you're Ladybug too?" Marinette nodded in response. "Okay, as long as Nino knows as well." Adrien spoke. "Of course, he's our best friend too, after all." Marinette said. "I'll go get them." Adrien stated.

He brought the two outside and they went to a corner where no one could see or hear them. "Uhm, why are we here again? Adrien practically dragged me and Alya here." Nino eyed the blonde, receiving a nervous chuckle from Adrien. "We've been keeping something from you two..." Marinette admitted.

Alya gawked, thinking Marinette and Adrien were having some sort of secret relationship Chat Noir didn't know about. "We know what you're thinking Alya, but let us explain first." Adrien said, Alya straightened her face and nodded. "Dudes, I don't get what's going on..."

"Well...you can come out guys..." Marinette said, making Alya and Nino look at each other questionably. "Hello...!" Tikki said.

"A-are those kwamis...?" Alya and Nino asked in unison. "We sure are." Plagg confirmed. "I'm Ladybug, and he's Chat Noir. I revealed myself to him weeks from now, while I figured out he was Chat Noir four days ago." Marinette told the two in a low and quiet voice. "Wait-wait, so you're telling me that the two superheroes of Paris, are two of my best friends?!?" Alya whisper-shouted, this was a lot to take in.

Alya couldn't believe it, and neither could Nino. "Yes, yes we are." Marinette giggled. "Woah...this is insane." Nino uttered. The heroes chuckled. "Thank you for telling us, girl." Alya hugged the two. "Thanks." Nino said as well, joining their group hug. "It's no problem." Adrien told the two.

"So...what are your names?" Alya asked the kwamis.

"I'm Tikki, kwami of creation."

"And I'm Plagg, kwami of destruction."

"Cool, so you guys know Wayzz?" Nino asked, missing his kwami. "Of course we do." Plagg said to him. "Nice." Nino chuckled. The bell rang, and Tikki hid on Marinette's sling bag while Plagg hid in Adrien's vest.

"Let's go before we're late." Alya said.

The three nodded.

After school

Marinette Pov

I was almost done doing my geography homework, fighting the urge to open and read the envelope. I was extremely excited to see what was inside.

Focus Marinette, focus...!

I told myself. A few minutes later, I finally finished it. I set it aside and took the envelope, admiring the designs on it. It had a print of different flowers on the bottom, with the colors of pink, purple and red. I opened the flap and took the piece of paper out. "What do you think is written on there Marinette?" Tikki asked me. "I don't know, Tikki..."

I took the rose off the envelope and put it inside my purse. On the front of the folded paper, was a big and cursive 'J'. I wondered why but brushed it off. I opened it, and it had beautiful flower designs on the top right and bottom left. A smile made its way onto my lips and I finally read the words written on the paper:

The place where we stargaze,

and kiss each other goodnight.

Where I made and fulfilled a promise,

where we often look at; 'The City Of Lights'

"Is this a riddle...?" I questioned myself out loud. "Can I see?" Tikki asked. I showed Tikki and we read it over and over again. "It is, I think you have to guess where this place is." Tikki told me. "Hmm, place where we stargaze and kiss each other goodnight..." I read.

"Where did he make and fulfill a promise?" Tikki asked. Then, it hit me.

"My balcony...!" It made sense, we used to stargaze on my balcony, he kisses me goodnight on my balcony, he made a promise he would visit me again on my balcony and fulfilled it there. And we look at all of Paris on my balcony.

But what was I supposed to do next?

I put the paper back on the envelope, put it inside my purse, ran up to my balcony, and saw an identical envelope to the one that was on my desk. It was on the round table. Surprisingly, it also had a rose behind it. I put the rose in my purse.

I saw another letter in front of the paper, but it was a different one. It was a small, cursive 'e'. I shook it off and unfolded the paper.

An entrance.

Where two imperfect souls first met,

where I kissed the back of your hand.

And where I first called you princess.

I read it, confused. "Tikki, I don't get it. What does he mean by imperfect souls?" I asked the kwami of creation. "You two...!" Tikki said. "What do you mean 'me too'?" Tikki facepalmed. "I meant you and Chat Noir, you two are the imperfect versions of yourselves, where did you and Chat Noir first meet?" "Oh...hehe, sorry I'm a little deaf. And we first met at the front door-"

"Where did he first kiss your hand?"

"The front door..."

"Where did he first call you princess?"

I then understood, the front door was an entrance. I put the paper with hints inside the envelope in my sling bag. Tikki went in the bag as well, and I went down to the front door, seeing my parents busy serving to customers.

I saw the potted plant and an envelope in between the leaves. I saw that the paper had another cursive letter, 't' in front of it.

I wasn't quite understanding all of this. Was this some kind of treasure hunt? Because I loved it. But I didn't really get what the letters were for. I didn't hesitate and I took the taped rose and put in in my bag once again, unfolding the paper and reading its contents:

Where I had my first date with a beautiful princess.

And where a certain someone,

made her jealous.

Specifically a waitress.

I immediately knew where this place was. But how did he know I was jealous? Eh, whatever. I was enjoying this treasure hunt, and I didn't want embarrassing memories of me being possessive to interfere. "You know where to go next Marinette?" Tikki asked me. "Yup, it's the cafe where Adrien and I had our first date." I said to my kwami.

I took my bike, telling my parents I was going to have a ride around. I rode it, making my way to the cafe.

I arrived, parking my bike to the side. I went in, looking around, not knowing where the letter was. Tikki popped her head out of my sling bag. "What's wrong?"

"I don't know where to find the envelope..." I admitted. "Do you remember where you two sat?" "Oh, yeah!" I sprinted to where we sat before. I saw the envelope that was waiting to be opened between the cushion of the chair.

I hurriedly took the rose off and put it in my purse. Then I took the paper in the envelope, seeing an apostrophe ( ' ) in front of it. I was a little puzzled, were these just random letters and punctuations? Or was it supposed to spell something?

I shrugged the thought off, opening the piece of paper.

A location,

that is behind something.

A place where you often find a lot of inspiration,

where you end up making many unique designs and drawings.

Once I read the last clue, I understood that it was my favorite inspiration place. Palais de Chaillot. I went out of the cafe, ignoring several curious gazes of the people inside the cafe. I grabbed my bike, peddling my way behind the tower. I arrived at my destination, immediately seeing something in between the branches of a tree.

The tree I hid behind when I detransformed before...

Mr. Ramier was doing the usual, feeding his beloved pigeons. So I signaled for Tikki to not fly out and stay in my bag. I took the envelope, and a rose was still taped to the back of it. What was with all these roses? I put in inside my sling bag with the envelopes that had the papers inside, and other roses. In front of the paper was the letter 'a'.

I unfolded it, then read the words written.

Where a blueberry and a tomato,

first hang out.

The sight made me fume with jealousy, like magma boiling within a volcano.

Even just thinking about it makes me pout.

I giggled as I imagined Chat Noir/Adrien write this while pouting. It was obvious that he meant I was the blueberry, and Nathaniel was the tomato. We first hang out at the art museum, so I got on my bike and rushed there.

I set my bike aside, going in. The art museum was practically empty, the only people there were me and the janitor. The janitor was far and he couldn't see me, so I allowed Tikki to fly out so she could help me find the envelope. "Where do you think it is, Tikki?"

"Do you think it's behind one of these landscape paintings?" Tikki asked me, pointing to the paintings. "Can you phase through and check it out?" I requested. "Sure...!" Tikki agreed, phasing through four paintings, not finding one single envelope behind each one.

"Where could it be...?" Tikki questioned. "My favorite painting...!" I guessed. Since Chat was there when me and Nathaniel hung out, he must have heard me saying and showing Nathaniel my favorite painting. "Are you sure Marinette?" My kwami asked me doubtingly, probably getting ready to be disappointed.

I nodded confidently, and she phased through. I waited, beginning to doubt my theory as she was taking a little longer than expected.

"Marinette! It's here...!" Tikki said happily, handing the envelope to me. "Yes! I knew it!" I said in a low voice, whisper-shouting. "Thanks, Tikki." "You're welcome. I'm sorry I took a bit long, The envelope was kind of hard to get off." Tikki apologized.

"It's fine, it doesn't matter now." I was a bit surprised to see that the envelope was not white, it was light green, with black doodles and swirls. I got the idea, it was Chat Noir themed. The last four seemed to be 'me' themed, or Marinette themed. I liked everything he put together.

There was still a rose taped to the back and I untaped it, doing the usual. On the front of the paper, was a cursive letter 'i'. I unfolded it, and it also had a different design. There were three paw prints on the top left of the paper, and two on the bottom right. Chat Noir's signature paw print.

Someplace freezing,

and someplace icy.

Where I helped you, gave clues,

so you could figure out my secret identity.

Ice rink. The two words popped in my mind. "Tikki, I know where to go!" I told her. She smiled as she went back to my bag. I rode my bicycle, going to the ice rink, hoping it was open since I don't really know when it is. I also noticed it was getting a little dark.

I arrived, setting aside my bike once again. I got in, seeing Mr. Philippe teaching a child to skate, and other teenagers and friends skating normally and having fun. I then saw the green envelope I've been looking for at one of the seats.

I casually went towards it, opening the flap, and seeing another letter in front of the paper. The letter 'm'. I took the rose off and put in in my purse. I unfolded the paper, excited to read its contents.

Where we went,

after you figured me out.

Though this cart goes here,

there, and about.

"Here, there and about? So meaning it's a cart that goes places. Where did we go after we went to the park-?"

"Oh yeah..."

André's ice-cream cart! I went out of the rink and dashed to my bike to find André's cart.

"🎶My name is André! André, Glacé! The sweetheart matchmaker! With one scoop or two, I'll find up for you, with magical ice-cream flavors...!🎶" I heard André sing. I smiled to myself proudly because I found him and his cart for just a few minutes. Usually, it would take half an hour or more to find him. I put my bike to the side.

"Good evening André, have you talked to Adrien today?" I asked him after waiting in line for a little while. "Marinette, I have been expecting you, and yes. Adrien has been here, that is true." He said as he handed out a green envelope.

"Thank you, André!" I smiled with my eyes. "You are most welcome Marinette. Would you like a free ice cream to go with it?" André questioned. "I would love to, but no thank you. I have to go now, bye!" I said to him, waving goodbye and he waved back.

I took the taped rose out the envelope, doing the usual. In front of the paper, was the letter 'e'. I then read the words.

Where your birthday took place, the date you were born,

and where two, one of a kind rings were worn.

Rings that once symbolized our friendship,

and now our special relationship.

"Where two, one of a kind rings were worn...The Eiffel Tower!" I turned to Tikki, silently asking if I could go there as Ladybug. "Okay, but detransform quickly. You forgot to bring cookies." Tikki told me. "Yay...!" I giggled like a child.

I hid and transformed. What was the point of keeping my identity a secret if Hawkmoth already gave up? I don't know. You could say I was just used to hiding when I turn to Ladybug. I used my yoyo to go to the tower, having a bit of trouble since the street lights weren't turned on yet.

I landed on my intended destination, and I detransformed. "Tikki, spots off." I said. I looked up, not expecting to see one of the most beautiful things I've seen. There were rose petals on the floor and a romantic candle-light table, with an empty, yet beautiful vase beside the tall candle. Kinda made me wonder why it was empty.

But that didn't matter. I didn't realize I shed a tear already, extremely touched that he set up everything there just for me. Chat stood up from his chair, walking to me, and smiling sweetly. "Princess! You're here!" He gave me a quick, yet loving kiss.

Tears of happiness rolled down my cheeks, as I put my two hands on my mouth. "Adrien, I- This is-" He cut me off, as I sniffed. "Cliché? Overused? B-"

"No, Chaton. I meant to say amazing, and extraordinary! I love it...!" I hugged him and he returned the gesture. "I'm glad you love it, Mari..." He whispered. "You did all this? All the letters-"

"Yes."

I smiled in his chest, I was lucky to have a boyfriend whose goal is to always make me happy. I let go, honestly missing his warmth. I took the papers and roses out my purse. "What are these for...?" I asked the boy in leather. He took the roses from me and put it on the vase. "Ah...I get it."

This kitty was smart.

I showed him the papers, not understanding the letters and the apostrophe on them. He took it from me, and he arranged it, making me a bit confused. "What are you doing...?" "Read it." He instructed, smiling at me. I looked at him questionably before I did as he said.

"Je...Je t'aim-"

"Oh..."

"Je t'aime, Marinette..." Chat told me, smiling warmly. "Je t'aime moi aussi, Chat Noir." I cried tears of joy once again as we joined lips. "Let's eat, the food will get cold." Chat told me. "Okay, chef Adrien." I said, making him let out a chuckle.

Chat Noir Pov

Both of us were sitting at the edge of the tower, looking at the breathtaking view, my arm around her waist, keeping her warm and close. We were done eating dinner. And gladly, Marinette really liked the food I cooked. "When did you write all those hints?" Marinette asked me. "The day before yesterday." I answered, admiring her face.

"Thank you Chat...really, all this is really lovely. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have you..." Marinette said to me, making me flush a deep red. "Same goes for me princess, I can't imagine having to live without my bugaboo~" I said in a teasing manner, though I meant every word.

"We're so cheesy..." She giggled. Something deep in the pit of my stomach fluttered, her laugh making me turn into a blushing mess. I chuckled along with her. "Adrien..." Marinette caught my attention. "Yes...?"

"I'm scared."

She said, suddenly. "What do you mean...?" I questioned, becoming worried, not realizing I had constricted my face. "I mean, we might break up at some point you know..." Her words stabbed me in my chest. "Wh-Wha-" I asked in a brittle voice. "Adrien, everyone knows how clumsy I am. I fall over, break things, and so much more. What if your feelings for me end up fading away? I'm not perfect. I'm saying that we might break up because of me, and I don't want that. And I'm scared that at some point you might-"

"Stop. Marinette, you're being ridiculous. I'll always love you no matter what. You know that right? Why do you think I did all the things you saw today? I know how much you love puzzles and treasure hunts. But coming back to what you just said, I would never break up with you just because you have flaws. I would never do that. Chat Noir would never part with his lady and princess."

"Flaws are what make you who you are, they are a part of you. Don't try being someone you aren't, because I love you for who you are. Your imperfections are what make you, you. And I love you, I always will, no matter what."

"Princess, I'm not perfect either," I told her softly. "I make mistakes too. I can be selfish, petty, and childish," I gave her an eye smile. "I suppose you're right," the blunette giggled. "But hey, you know what?" I stroked her cheek.

"We may not be perfect, but we're perfect together."

The next thing I knew, Marinette was in tears once again.

"Why do you have to be so incredibly sweet...!" She cried in my chest. "Is that a complaint...?" I teased. "Idiot, of course it's not." Marinette sniffled, and I hugged her. "Thank you Chat, I wouldn't leave you either. No matter what." She stated. "No problem princess, never doubt my love for you ever again...okay?"

"Yes, mom."

"Marinette-" I eyed the love of my life. She laughed like an eight-year-old, making my heart flutter. "Mari, you know what?" "What...?" Marinette turned her head to me, putting herself together, and wiping her tears. "You know what two words describe you the most?" I caught her full attention. "Clumsy, and klutzy?" She guessed in a playful tone, and I shook my head as she let out a scoff.

"No. What, kitty...?" Marinette asked me. I undid her pigtails, putting the hair ties to the side. "First of all my princess, I love you with all my heart. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. The sound of your soft, gentle voice makes my heart beat faster. Your beautiful face, adorable freckles, captivating smile, and wonderful personality make me fall in love with you all over again. We both know you can be awkward and clumsy, but that only makes my love for you grow. I love you Marinette," I expressed with a full heart. "I love you too, Chat Noir."

"Marinette..."

"Yes?"

"You are perfectly imperfect..."
