Chapter 13: Ladybug's Reveal
Third-Person
Marinette's words repeated in Chat's head. "What are we...?" She asked. "Uh..." Chat trailed off, trying to find the right words. Did she mean their relationship? Chat Noir knew he couldn't tell her yet. Plus, maybe she was expecting an answer like 'We're friends'. Also, now wasn't quite the perfect time to ask Marinette to be his girlfriend. "Best friends of course, what else?" Chat answered nervously.
Chat Noir had no idea how much those words hurt Marinette. "Oh..." She quickly took her arm back. "Yeah uhm, you should go now. It's getting pretty late...I'm glad we're friends." Marinette forced a smile to her face. Chat Noir knows when Marinette's smile is genuine. And this smile, definitely wasn't.
He wondered if he should ask her if she was alright, but she would most likely deny it, so there's no point. "Me too, bye Mari." He said, launching himself off her balcony. A tear squeezed out of her red eyes, accepting the fact that all Chat Blanc had said to her was a lie.
"B-bye..."
Marinette wanted to ignore the pain of the truth and lie down. But she still had to fix everything. She couldn't transform to Ladybug, since Tikki was still at the Eiffel Tower. She went out of the bakery, not seeing her parents.
They were probably hiding somewhere, but they'll be back in the bakery once the Miraculous Ladybugs fix everything. She made her way to the tower. Minutes later, she arrived, getting her purse and wearing it.
Tikki phased through, all better, in her normal color. "Marinette! You did it!" Tikki hugged her holder's cheek. "I'm happy you're alright now Tikki." Marinette sniffed, hugging her back. "Are you crying...?" Tikki noticed another tear escape Marinette's eye. "Guess so..." Marinette wiped her face.
"What happened?" Tikki asked, concerned. "I just- Everything Chat Blanc said about loving me too, and wanting me to be with him...is a lie."
Tikki sighed at Marinette's thoughts. "Marinette, why do you think Chat Noir got akumatized? Why do you think he destroyed all of Paris? Why do you think he kissed you back?" Marinette thought about Tikki's words.
She always denied the thought of Chat liking her back to prevent from being heartbroken. But if Chat really did like her, he would have asked her to be his girlfriend already. Marinette shook her head.
"Maybe Hawkmoth told him to destroy everything, also, he got akumatized because he felt angry and sad cause he didn't want me to be with Nathaniel. So I wouldn't be heartbroken again. Just like any normal friend would feel like." Marinette said in an as a matter-of-fact tone.
Tikki sighed in frustration, but let this one slide, Paris was still destroyed. "Okay, Marinette. Whatever you say." Tikki replied. When it was clear that he also destroyed Paris because he said; 'If he couldn't have her, then no one could'. And that he was akumatized because he was jealous of Nathaniel.
Why does Marinette have to be so denial...?
Tikki thought. Marinette said the words, turning to Ladybug. "Lucky Charm!" She yelled, a flower ring dropped on her hands. Identical to the cat-themed ring Chat gave her, except it was red, covered in black spots.
What was the Lucky charm telling her...?
She threw the lucky charm in the air. "Miraculous Ladybug!" Thousands of Ladybugs fixed the damage caused by Chat Blanc. Buildings and homes were now fixed. Everyone that was turned to ash was now back where they were before, safe.
Ladybug sighed in satisfaction seeing everything back to normal.

Marinette had a long talk with her parents last night. They were really worried about her, wondering where she was. Good thing Marinette came up with a believable last-minute excuse.
It was Monday, Marinette wanted to apologize to Nathaniel. She walked towards his seat. "Good morning...!" She greeted. Nathaniel jerked his head to her and stood up. "Hey, Marinette." Nathaniel smiled, putting his pencil down.
"What's up?" Marinette started building a casual conversation. "I put some thought in my feelings for you, and I kind of moved on from you already..." Nathaniel stated. "That's great news, I hope you find someone else that deserves you." Marinette replied cheerfully.
"Also, I wanted to apologize for what happened yesterday, I'm sorry you got involved with me and Chat Noir-...er- Chat Blanc." Marinette said sheepishly, scratching the back of her head. "That's okay, I forgive you. Even though he almost choked me to death." He uttered in a teasing manner. They both chuckled a bit.
"Anyway, I wanted to ask you. Is Chat Noir the 'someone else' you talked about?" Nathaniel asked. Marinette blushed the moment he said those words. "Uh...I-" Marinette was too flustered to say anything. Nathaniel smirked, to be honest, the thought of Marinette and Chat Noir was really cute. They fit perfectly.
"It's fine Mari, I won't tell anyone." Nathaniel grinned, totally shipping the two. Marinette's blush turned ruby red. "W-wha-? I-I don't like him...!" Marinette stumbled on her words, making Nathaniel's grin grow wider. "Stop denying, it's so obvious, now I understand why you had so many drawings of Chat Noir than Ladybug!" Nathaniel pointed out.
Marinette sighed. "Fine...but don't tell anyone." Marinette crossed her arms.
"I-I'm so sorry...!"
A boy with jet black and messy hair apologized for bumping into Nathaniel, picking up his books and pencils. He was about to pick up his notebook, but Nathaniel picked it up first, reading the writings in it. "O-oh uh- Please don't read that, it's not yet do-" The teenage boy was interrupted. "Inspired by- Nathaniel Kurtzburg? Me...?" Nathaniel read aloud.
The boy blushed in embarrassment. "Yes...I write stories, inspired by your drawings." The boy confirmed shyly. Marinette took a peek. "Wow! Your writing is amazing...!" She complimented, flipping the page. "She's right, you're a great writer. I'm flattered your work is inspired by me." Nathaniel chuckled a bit.
"Thank you, your drawings are awesome too, I saw you post them online." The boy said. Nathaniel closed the notebook and gave it back to him. "You guys should totally make a comic book together, a comic consists of drawings, and words. And since Nathaniel is good at drawing, and you're good at writing, it would be perfect!" Marinette suggested.
"That sounds nice." The boy smiled. "Yeah..." Nathaniel agreed. "Marc Anciel." He introduced himself, holding out his right hand. "I'm sure you already know who I am." A chuckle escaped Nathaniel's lips as he shook Marc's hand. Marinette grinned.
Something tells me that these two, will be the best of friends...
...or possibly even more
Adrien Pov
I noticed Marinette talking to Nathaniel and getting all flustered, I saddened. Why was she blushing so much around Nathaniel? Did Marinette lie?
No Adrien, don't think that. Marinette would never lie.
"And then-" My mind blocked Nino's voice. And my full attention was on Marinette, oh how she was adorable. A smile encased my lips.
The bell rang, and the class started.

I was sitting on a roof, my usual meeting spot with Ladybug. We had patrol today. I chose to go there early for some reason, I didn't really know why. What did I know?
I couldn't wait to visit Marinette...
I heard a thump from behind me, and I turned around. My gaze meeting Ladybug's. I then remembered why I fell in love with her in the first place. "Good evening Chat." She said to me, pulling me up. "Good evening Bugaboo." I replied, taking her hand to get up.
"Ready for patrol kitty?" Ladybug asked. "Paw-lways m'lady." I said. She giggled at my terrible pun, oddly reminding me of Marinette. And Ladybug would never laugh at cat puns. Was this even the real Ladybug?
"Can we meet at the Eiffel Tower after?" Ladybug questioned. "Sure...okay, I guess." I became skeptical. She was really surprising me that night. First, she giggles at my puns. And now she wants us to meet at the Eiffel Tower. Usually, she'd only want us to meet again if we spot an Akuma.
"Let's go!" She said, snapping me out of my thoughts. We went different ways, starting patrol.
After Patrol
It was getting really dark, and I arrived at the tower, seeing Ladybug sit at the edge. I sat beside her, not expecting her head to rest on my shoulder. My back stiffened. Past Chat Noir would have been extremely happy about what Ladybug just did.
But I was happy about it now of course. Just not as much as I would have been if I didn't spend all those nights with Marinette. I relaxed, smiling at her, and letting her rest her head on my shoulder. It suddenly reminded me of my princess, I started imagining Marinette in Ladybug's place. And a smile found its way onto my lips, thinking of them.
Thinking of the two girls that had occupied my heart...
We stayed like that for a while, in comfortable silence. "Chat...I have a question..." Ladybug told me. "Well, what is it...?" I asked her.
"Would you be disappointed, if you see who I am?" She questioned. Was she joking? Because she was perfect, surely her real self is the same. Surely she was this really talented girl in cute pigtails. What did she mean by disappointed?
"What? Of course not." I answered, looking at her. "But what if you saw that I'm this klutzy girl that trips and falls all the time. What if I was this girl that makes a ton of mistakes, and basically the definition of imperfect...?" She said, taking her head off me.
I looked at her in confusion, what was she saying? She was one of the most amazing girls I've ever met. I held up her chin to look at me. "Ladybug, with or without the mask, I know you are a wonderful girl. Plus, everyone has flaws. And I'm sure, if I know who you are, I won't be disappointed." I comforted the superheroine.
"Thank you kitty." She smiled at me and I smiled back, letting go.
Ladybug Pov
His sweet words made my heart flutter. We continued stargazing as he let go. I was planning to tell him I was Marinette as my alter-ego, because he still loves Ladybug. Right?
Right...
Was I ready? Yes, yes I was. His words convinced me, that my other self wouldn't let his expectations fall short. But first, I wanted to confess my feelings. I mean, there's no way he would reject me, because he loves Ladybug. He's always loved Ladybug.
I just feel so bad for rejecting him countless times before.
"I-I have to tell you something." I stuttered. His head snapped to me, and I caught his full attention. I stood up, and he did too. "Is something bothering you m'lady?" Chat asked me, worry spiraled in his voice.
"No, it's...I-" I couldn't find the right words to express how I felt.
Do I just say it?
Chat Noir had confessed to me a million times, just to be rejected. And I couldn't even do it. Was I worried? Why am I worried? I'm not even supposed to be worried. He likes me. Yeah...Nothing to worry about, just tell him Marinette, and then you two can finally be a superhero couple. Just like what everyone wanted.
"I-I like you...!"
The three words poured out of my mouth like a waterfall. I closed my eyes, scared of his reaction. "Oh, I like you too." He replied, hugging me. I sighed. "No, Chat..." I pushed him away. "I mean Like-Like you, like really..." I told him, my face reddening.
His eyes widened, he looked at me in disbelief and shock. He held up both his hands, indicating for me to wait and stop. "Okay, wait. So you're telling me, that you love me? As more than a friend...?" He asked. Before I could answer, he shot more questions at me.
"W-what about that guy you loved? The someone else? The reason for your rejections?" He questioned again.
"The guy I loved, never ended up liking me back. Chat Noir, you've been my partner for years already. You have always been there, by my side, fighting akumas together. I didn't realize, I actually like you too. I was just blinded by his perfections. And...I didn't even think twice about rejecting you...!"
I explained. "Ladybug, I-" I cut him off. Why wasn't he happy? Why wasn't he jumping with joy that his crush liked him back?
"I thought you'd be happy...? I thought you would be happy with me liking you back?" I asked him, walking closer. "Ladybug..." He put his arms on my shoulders, about to explain why he was acting like this.
"I love someone else...okay? I'm really sorry..." He pitied me. "S-someone else...?" My voice faltered, as my heart shattered to pieces. "I really hate saying this to you, I hate breaking people's hearts, please forgive me."
Tears streamed down my face, as I tried to reason with my heart. Chat Noir loves someone else, but that's okay. At least he's happy. But my heart didn't want to be reasoned with. Because my body became filled with sorrow, anger, regret, and jealousy. I took his arms off my shoulders.
My earrings beeped, but I didn't care.
"Who...?" I asked, not thinking of anything except whoever girl it was that Chat loved.
Third-Person
"What-?"
"Who, Chat Noir?" Ladybug questioned once again, sadly. "It's-"
"She's someone you know from your civilian form right?" Ladybug guessed. "No-" She cut him off, not hearing his answer. "Right..." She crossed her arms, looked away, and wiped her tears. "I'm too late aren't I...?"
"What do you mean?" Chat Noir asked. "I shouldn't have rejected you, I shouldn't have liked that boy, because if I didn't do all of that, then we could have been together already. We could have been dating as superheroes. And avoided rejections and heartbreak. This is all my fault."
"Hey, don't say that. You should always follow your heart Ladybug. It definitely wasn't a mistake rejecting me...multiple times, because you loved that boy. Never regret falling in love, it's one of the best feelings in the world." Chat told her.
Ladybug's earrings beeped again.
"I guess. And now you love another girl, but my heart chooses you Chat. I don't think I can ever move on from you." Ladybug said. "Ladybug, someday, someone out there will love you for who you are. He will love you like you're the only girl on Earth. I already found the one I love, she may or may not like me. But I don't care." He paused.
"When you rejected me, I was determined. Determined to wait until you fall for me. Love me like I loved you. But now that I love someone else, I can't just ditch my feelings for her and run away with you because you finally decide to reciprocate my feelings. I'm sorry Ladybug, but you have to move on. Trust me, I'm not the one for you."
Ladybug was stubborn, and headstrong, making Chat be a bit frustrated. But he was sure. Sure that he didn't love Ladybug any more. Because he loves Marinette. With all his heart. Even if he figures out she likes someone else.
Another tear fell down her cheek. "No." Ladybug's earrings beeped the third time. But none of them heard. "What...?" He questioned.
"I'm not giving up. I choose you Chat, I love you and no girl that you love can change that. I'll wait, wait like you did. I'll be patient. You can reject me, lecture me as much as you want. But I will never move on."
"I love you..."
She cupped his masked face, and kissed him. Chat Noir was stiff, and he couldn't move. His lips barely brushed against hers. He was tense, and he couldn't blink.
Though her lips were...familiar
"Mphmmhm!" Chat tried to pull away, and say he loved someone else, but she was too strong. Ladybug's earrings beeped for the last time, and she slowly detransformed. But Chat was wincing and having trouble pulling away, so he didn't notice.
At last, he was able to pull away and catch his breath. "Ladybug! I told you, I love someone else, I love-"
"M-Marinette...?"
