Chapter 6.
I found myself woke up, I saw my wife sleeping on the bed peacefully, and the wind howled as before. I looked at the wall clock pinned on the wall; it was five minutes past two o clock. All the sudden, something plucked in my heart, making me feel afraid. There was a sense of disturbance in my immediate neighbourhood, I sat up quickly, and opened the window stealthily. The trees were swaying violently, as the winds were strong, the feeling of disquietude did not pass, a curious excitement was on me, and as I looked at the top of the bushes of the trees, which were moving to and from, making shapes against the sky. I stared, and I saw the shape among the bushes of some indeterminate sort, among the trees, it seemed that the trees were grouping themselves making shapes, thus forming the series of monstrous outlines, shifting rapidly below the moon. The branches began to sway in the strong winds, they seem to group themselves, forming a series of monstrous outlines, that shifted rapidly beneath the moon. These things were fifty feet away from our boat, and my first instinct was to wake up my wife, who was sleeping peacefully, but as I looked over the shoulder, I thought not to rupture her sleep, it would not make sense, and it is flimflam to rupture a peaceful sleep. I shifted my focus on those monstrous outlines, I found myself staring at them, and I was wide awake. I whispered to myself," I ain't dreaming." Now, these figures become clearly visible, and they were on the tops of the bushes, immense bronze-coloured moving independently. As I examined them, they were taller than a human, taller than the tallest human alive today, or who lived in the past. I proclaimed that, they are not human at all, they were not of this world, they never belong to human race, and they rose up to sky in the continuous stream from earth to sky, it seemed that, they were forming pillars, vanishing utterly, as they reached the dark point of the sky. I watched them, totally amazed, flabbergasted. The seemed like a great column, they bent, swayed, twisted spirally, I could not see their faces. The more I stared at them, it became certain that they are real, and not an optical illusion, which the trees give during night.
I was possessed with the sense of awe, and these figures were real and living. The wind tore at my hair, and face. The sound of the river burst upon my ears, which proved that my senses are working, and what I am seeing is real, and not an illusion. The figures rosed majestically towards the heavens, and suddenly, they were vanished in thin air. Fear manifested upon me, like a shipwrecked man tossed in the sea, the esoteric meaning of this haunted region came down upon me, and I trembled dreadfully. I took a quick look around, and I closed the window stealthily, shutting down the sight of the dark forests, and the moonlight. I slept on the bed, burying under the bedsheet, to deaden the sound of the terrifying sound of the wind and river. As the wind blew violently, the doors, and windows were shivering lightly, I could hear the faint sound on the deck, as if someone was walking on the deck. The wind was hitting against the deck chairs, tables, and cabins, which yielded sounds of different kinds, and it amalgamated with the roaring sound of the river. After a while, I could hear multitudinous little pattering's. It felt like something is pressing against our boat, perhaps, the river is pushing our boat, but I knew that, the water is dashing against the boat, so the boat is swaying gently, however, this boat is anchored, and it has a capacity to carry up to twenty-five people, so the boat is a safe haven. I could hear the pattering's, it seemed that the something is pressing against our boat, and weighing down from above. I guessed, perhaps the currents of the water, and the raging wind is executing their work on the boat. I found myself bolt up straight, and I tiptoed towards the window, and I stealthily opened the window. I found that, the winds are still raging, the stars were crowding the night sky. I thought, perhaps, the ascending figures were just an illusion, but later, the memory of the ascending figure crowded my mind with dread, I hoped that was an illusion. I was perspiring with fear, even in this coldest night, and I could hear the pattering coming from the forest. The wind too was raging, producing horrifying sound, and it had engulfed our boat. The trees were swaying, and I was in lassitude. There was a disturbance in my heart, remained wholly unaccounted for. I noted the surroundings, it seemed that the trees, bushes, were crowding, surrounding us, endlessly shaking. I have been exhausted, and I am imagining things, this was the first thing that came to my mind. I decided to sleep, as it is the best medicine for me, and I closed the window. I laid on the bed, pulling the blanket, and I prayed on my mind, and then sleep came upon me.
