Chapter 2.
Me and my friends, once decided to go for a holiday, as the summer vacation has commenced. I remember, it was June 2012, and it was the time, when people are busy after vacations, also it is a good time for a picnic, as the influx of the public are moderate. We decided to hire a houseboat, and sail over the beautiful Godavari River. Ravindran's village was few kilometres away from our town, so there were houseboats available at his village, as his village is near to one of the famous picnic spots in the country. We decided to go to Ravindran's village and hire the houseboat. We packed our things, and caught a bus to Ravindran's village. Before we make a move, we went to God LaxmiNarayan temple, and offered prayers. Jamuna was spiritual, so she borrowed holy vermillion, and divine lockets from the priest, and we offered huge donations. The holy vermillion was in small tins, and the divine lockets were blessed during the worship. We wore the divine lockets.
Me and my wife were sitting at the back seat, she was sitting at the window seat, and I was sitting adjacent to her. The sun was rising above the horizon, but later, it was shrouded by murky clouds hanging in the sky, signalling the arrival of monsoon. The rain began to drizzle, and the cool zephyr began to blow, refreshing us. The fragrance of petrichor, crammed the bus. The bus moved through mountains, tunnels, and lush green forests. Later, few houses appeared adjacent to the roads, and we have entered the beautiful village of Ravindran. The name of the village is Anandpur. We got down at the bus depot, and Ravindran's house was few steps away from depot.
We reached the bungalow, which was covered by lower walls from all sides. Ravindran gave gentle shove to the metal grilled gates, covered in white, and gates opened wide. We saw four people standing at the porch, the house had gabled roof, coloured in red, the walls were painted in brunette. The windows were quite large, and as we walked, the people standing at the porch walked towards us. They were Ravindran's cousin brothers, and their wives. They greeted us, and their names were Jay and his wife Ranjita, and Surendran and his wife Khusboo. The house was a one storey house, and it was beautiful from inside too. Jay, Ranjita, Surendran, and Khusboo were real estate agents, and, they were engineers too. They had real estate business, and travel business too, they use to provide buses, cars, and house boats for rents, and earned substantial income. However, their real estate business earned huge incomes or commissions. We stayed there, and next day, we decided to travel by houseboat. We packed our belongings, and travelled on a mini-bus, which belonged to them. We got down near the banks of the river.
