Chapter 27: The Survival Games: Race against the clock

Note: All the attention seems to be on the Teencast book xD Ah well! :3 It is a lot happier than this book, I suppose :D This is all Mexxy's POV and Ridge's POV

Mexxy's POV

Ah. So Sparklez had found the golden desert eagle...in the back of my mind, I wondered, what was he going to do with it? Mortals were so unpredictable sometimes...

A knock at the door disrupts my thoughts. "Come in" I say in a low voice, eyes still fixed on the window. My eyes flicker to the reflection of Cisco in the window. "Cisco" I greet him, swinging round in my chair. He smiles faintly, those his eyes look sad. "What is troubling you?" I ask, reaching out. Faint power, only the faintest flickers in my fingertips and the glass of wine slips into my hand. Licking my lips, I take a sip, before planting the glass back down on the table.

"Tia" he sighs, leaning against the wall, looking out of the window. "Don't worry, she will be no danger to us" I chuckle. "Still...she has many tricks up her sleeve" he persists, reaching for his own glass. I grasp his arm, looking up at him. We lock eyes.

"It's coming soon, isn't it? What you were telling me before..." he mutters.

"Yes" I sigh, dropping my gaze.

"Are you sure there is no other way?" he pleads.

"No other way" I confirm, and he shuts his eyes. I smile faintly, patting him in the arm. "Everything will go according to plan, don't you worry." I smile. He nods hesitantly and I stand, crossing my arms behind my back. "Time for some entertainment, I think" I chuckle. He nods, smiling slightly.

Leaning over, I grasp a lever tightly and pull.

Ridgedog's POV

Sitting in a large hole in a tree was torture. Just sat there doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing.

"Eye spy with my little eye..." Tia sighs.

There were only so many things you can see out of a tree without getting bored to death.

"Tree" I grunt. "How'd you guess?" she asks sarcastically. "Lucky guess" I mumble.

"This should be called the boredom games" she groans. I smile, pulling her further onto my lap. "You say that now, but when someone runs in here brandishing a battle axe, it won't be very boring then, will it?" I muse, nuzzling her neck. "Anything to stop the boredom" she huffs, but leans on my head. "And besides..." I smirk, wrapping a lock of her hair around my finger, "There are plenty of other things to be doing..."

"You want to do that in a giant dome where everyone can hear us and Mexxy will be watching? No thanks" she spits, shuddering. I scowl, sighing. "You're so grumpy lately" I moan. "Can't help it, I'm sat in a giant death dome with two babies in my stomach, I think I can afford to be a little unhappy at this stage" she sighs. I sigh, but my hand automatically slides down to her stomach. She had taken her armour off because apparently "it was itchy, uncomfortable and unnecessary because I'm going to die anyway".

"Maybe you should carry these kids instead" she sighs. "Tell you what, I'll share" I smirk. "No way, I've already carried two, you can carry these two" she groans.

I begin to roll my eyes and argue when the crackle of the intercom echoes into the arena.

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Things have been a bit boring lately, and none of you have any good supplies. So, in the cornucopia, I am stocking some one time only goods! Feasts of your wildest imaginations and weapons galore...all the goods will be taken back in an hour. Only one can survive..."

Then everything goes quiet.

"Get going then" Tia grunts. I snap my head at her and she grins. "I was going to go anyway" I sniff. "Sure you were" she chuckles. "Deamon will probably get some stuff for us" I say as confidently as possible. "Yeah, like one piece of armour and a cake." she sighs. "Fine, I'll go" I groan, getting up and shoving her off my lap. "There's a good dog" she giggles, laughing when I swat my hand at her.

"Call me dog one more time" I grunt. "Or what?" she challenges, eyes sparkling. I raise my eyebrow, and bend over, hugging her. "I'll be back in a bit" I smile, nuzzling her gently and kissing her softly. "Love you dog" she smiles. "Love you too, annoying little-" I say back before she kisses me again. "Fine, I'm going, I'm going" I groan. "Bring me back a post card" she coos. That's all I hear before I drop down out of the tree, landing more expertly than Tia had when she had dropped.

"Show off" Tia's voice calls out from the tree and I chuckle before jogging through the trees.

It doesn't take long to get to the cornucopia. No one is there, and there is a massive table, filled with food of all of my dreams. My mouth waters, and my stomach rumbles-it had been days since I had last eaten. There are chests with bows and arrows, and assortments of swords. Without hesitation, I step into the clearing.

I could feel their eyes watching me. Eyes, staring, hungry. Watching me walk towards the chests. I strode with confidence, but I kept my senses alert. Any smart person would think that I was here so that if all attention was on me, they would avoid paying attention to someone sneaking up behind me.

An even smarter person would realize I had no idea what I was doing and I was an idiot.

I reach the chests, bending down and gathering weapons casually like I was bored, and an expert. I picked ones from different chests, a red matter katar here, a dark matter sword there...I picked up another red matter chest plate and smiled-Tia would like that.

I could feel someone else creeping up behind me, but I pretended not to notice. Surprisingly, they decided to introduce themselves.

"Hey Ridge" Sky's voice says behind me. "Hey" I say back, without turning round as I head towards the food table. "How are you?" he asks, and I can hear him rooting through chests. "I'm fine thanks" I smile, even though I'm not looking at him. I store a pack of cookies on my belt and slip a cake in the bag as well. I just about manage to grab a glass bottle of water before I hear someone running onto the field.

Snapping my head up, I see Strippin running towards the chest Sky had. Sky reacts instantly, whipping out dynamite. He lights it quickly with flint and steel, and chucks it, and the hiss is the last thing I hear before the explosion.

BOOM.

The cannon sounds.

Boom.

"Strippin!" Sparklez yells from the bushes, sprinting towards the chests. Sky takes him out too, with something that makes my eyes light up.

Boom.

A musket! I've always wanted to use one of those. But then I see something gleaming at Sparklez's belt. A golden desert eagle. I needed that. That was the one thing that mattered-I could kill Mexxy!

Sky get's there first. The cannon soundings and the two dead bodies seemed to have caused a frenzy and about 8 people began to sprint to the middle. Sky picks up the golden desert eagle, glances at me and is about to chuck it my way when-

Boom.

Sky's body drops to the floor. My eyes widen as I see Alsmiffy raise the barrel of the gun to me and-

I run.

I run so fast my heart was pounding a mile a minute. I was carrying so many weapons and food on my belt I was panting by the time I hit the trees. I could hear his feet pounding behind me. I had to get back to Tia. She needed me! Someone could be in there now, standing above her with a sword above their heads...

"TIA!" I roar, my feet pounding against the dirty forest floor. I reach the tree. "TIA!" I cry out desparately. Climbing was out of the question-as soon as I stopped, that was it. He would shoot me and I wouldn't even have the chance to say goodbye...

I can hear the click of a trigger and I brace myself.

Boom.

Note: OOOH CLIFFHANGER! ...No I'm just kidding xD

I stop running, spinning round to see Alsmiffy's body hit the ground. I glance up to see Tia with a crossbow in her hand peering out of the tree. She glances down at me with a grin. "You took your time!" she yells down. I scowl, panting, before beginning to scale the tree.

When I reach the top, Tia has plonked herself down on the floor, looking up at me expectantly. I'm still panting, but I delve into my bag and toss her a red matter chest plate. She grins, slipping it on and sighing as she leans back. "Not the same as dark matter, but hey, who am I to complain" she chuckles, sighing. "Yeah, who are you to complain?" I snap, sliding to the floor, panting heavily.

I toss her the food bag and she nibbles on a cookie, rooting through my loot. I just keep panting, staring at the wall. Tia's hand suddenly slides into my hair and she begins to stroke my head softly. It felt incredibly relaxing and my breathing becomes slower. "You didn't have to go" she says gently. "You told me to" I mumble. "You didn't have to" she repeats, kissing me gently on my forehead. I roll my eyes, sitting up and sighing, crossing my legs.

"You got some good stuff" she comments, taking a sip from the glass water bottle. "More than enough" I agree, before glancing back at the cross bow that had ended Alsmiffy's life. "Where'd you get that from?" I ask, snatching up the food bag and stuffing a cookie in my mouth. It had been too long since I had eaten...

"Deamon left it me. Said I would be able to protect myself with it" she shrugs. I nod, sighing. "Is something getting you down there, buddy boy?" she smiles, stroking my neck gently. "Just tired." I sigh.

Then I remember the golden desert eagle still laying on the floor outside.

"Hang on, I'm just gonna get you a present" I smile, getting up and scaling down the tree. The glittering gold gun stood out on the dirty brown forest floor. Reaching for it, I smile as the familiar smooth metal slips into my hand. I sigh, lifting the gun into the air. One bullet. That was all I needed.

Glancing back, behind the tree, I see a small patch of grass with an assortment of flowers in there. Walking over, I stooped down, picking a small red flower and twirling it gently between my fingers. I smiled to myself-a gun and a flower. What is more romantic than that?

When I climb back up to the tree, I smirk, holding them behind my back and replacing the bullet with the flower quickly. Holding the bullet in one hand the gun in the other, I wait for her to turn round.

When she turns I hold the gun out and shoot near her head. She flinches in surprise, and the flower explodes out, the petals exploding onto her like confetti. She raises her eyebrows, and I catch a floating petal, handing it to her and sitting next to her, handing her the gun.

"You scared the hell out of me" she mutters. I smile, leaning my head on her shoulder. "That's what I do best" I sigh.

We stay like that until night time comes. Then I remember the musket in the cornucopia.

"I just want to go get something from the cornucopia" I tell her. She rolls her eyes. "Hurry up, I want to sleep" she sighs. "I'll only be ten minutes" I promise, standing up. "What do you want to get anyway?" she grumbles. "A musket" I smile. She sighs loudly as I climb down the tree quickly, dropping to the ground and beginning to jog back to the cornucopia.
