Chapter 25: The Survival Games: Cornucopia Bloodbath

Note: Again, all the people who die, who killed them, the death count and who's left will appear at the end of the chapter! Now, back to the action...

Tia's POV

I, personally had never been in the survival games. The stories of them always seemed exaggerated to me. Surely it wasn't that bad? I mean, you all come back at the end, right?

But that wasn't the case.

Yes we came back. But not as the people we were before. And now, as the clock lets out a deep chime, I realize I had underestimated the sheer power of these games and the effect they had on you.

Go.

That one word screamed in my mind loudly as I threw myself off the platform. I didn't see anything else, not Ridge, not Deadlox next to me, no one. Just the chest in front of me, loot bursting out the sides.

The thudding of feet were the only things you could hear. The will to survive, pure survival instincts kicked in, and now that's all it was. Survival. Nothing else mattered.

Throwing open the chest, I grab hold of the iron chest plate first. It reminded me that things did matter. Ridge, Robin, Ryan and my unborn twins. I slip it over my top, trying not to think too much at the mysteriously gone Dark matter chestplate. My hands fold around the hilt of a stone sword, and the other hand grabs the golden apple. Slipping it into pocket, I grab the chain leggings, tugging them on quickly. People were already beginning to run, some were already fighting.

I don't look up, I simply rely on pure instinct to detect when someone comes near. I reach for another chest, just managing to get the two cooked fish before a hand slams onto my arm.

I flinch back, taking the fish with me. Slipping it also into my pocket, I whirl round to whoever touched me. Ridge is decked out in iron leggings, an iron helmet, a chain chest plate and a red matter kattar. He grabs my arm, slipping a golden helmet onto my head before beginning to run.

I turn round. Big mistake.

The fighting had started.

"Sips!" Kim yells. She's being attacked from the chest she is trying to grab at. In there, I see a diamond gleam. "Sips!" she yells again, and the dirt factory owner hesitates, glancing back at her, before jogging after Minty and Sjin, already hurtling towards the forest quicker than a gazelle. It doesn't take long for Mitch's iron blade to slice through her neck cleanly, her blood decorating the sword with a leapard print of blood.

Boom.

The first death of the survival games.

I spot Ryan, running quickly towards me, Ana behind him. Ryan has diamond boots, which surprises me, and a dark matter chestplate. I eye it for a split second, before continuing to run. Ana had no armour, though she had a spare diamond, and lots of food in her arms.

The twang of an arrow is the only warning I get before something digs itself into my arm.

I yelp, clutching my arm and yanking it out, turning round to see Teep, already armed with a bow and arrow, aiming at my direction. I duck when the next arrow comes, and it hurtles over my head, and hits Turpz square in the back of the neck. He freezes for a moment, before falling to the ground.

Boom.

This was horrible. That arrow was meant for me, not him!

I offer a silent prayer to him, and take Ryan's hand as we reach the forest, Ana right behind us. Glancing back round, I spot Parv running to his friend, another diamond gleaming in his arms. It doesn't take long for Lewis to spot it, and his stone sword digs into his back, slamming Parv to the ground next to Turpz.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

The cannons were going so fast, I didn't have time to turn back and check who had died. I just kept on running.

This was a bloodbath.

Liam's POV

I was next to Sky as I started running. I glanced at him as my feet thudded against the grass, and he nodded grimly at me before we reach the chests. In the one I reached was a buzzing dark matter sword, which I plucked up quickly, before slamming the dark matter helmet on my head and grabbing the cookie at the bottom, before shoving it into my mouth and spinning round.

Mitch was heading towards me, but was watching something else. I look over to see Tia disappearing quickly into the trees with Ridge. At least she was safe. I snap my head over to see Sky backing Ryan up into a corner. He grins sheepishly, before talking in his Morgan Freeman voice. "This is it then, my death is unavoidable. Goodbye world."

It would of been so funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Boom.

His headless body drops to the floor, and I tear my eyes from the dead man to Mitch who glares at Sky, backing away. It was clear that we were going to be partners, and partners alone.

"Ashley!" Tato's voice howls from my left. I look over as I rifle through other chests, getting temporarily distracted. Panda slams a dark matter axe into his chest, cutting off his next yell.

Boom.

Ashley had heard his cry for help, and rushed over to Panda, eyes blazing. She took hold of her red matter katar, and ran towards Panda, who met the charge. The hiss of dark matter colliding with red matter pushes them both back. Ashley recovers quicker than the Hybrid Panda, who turns and flees, jumping up a tree with ease. His strong paws help him to grip the branches as he hoists himself up to the top, glaring at Ashley from a safe distance.

Who, in turn, takes out a weird looking grey ring and fires arrows in rapid fire.

The panda drops from the tree, and is dead before he hits the bottom.

Boom.

"The Archangel smite" Mitch says beside me. I realized I had stopped running, and began to jog away. "What is it?" I ask, panting even though I hadn't even started. "A power ring. It shoots arrows and stuff." he responds, and I hear a loud, high pitched scream behind me.

Boom.

Spinning around, Ashley lay dead on the floor, already turning into pixels. Nilesy rifled through her loot, grabbing the ring. I realized how badly I wanted that ring, and without even thinking send my sword soaring through the air and with a sickening crunch it hits its target.

Boom.

Jogging over, I snatch up the Archangel smite ring, and I slip it onto my hand. Glancing at the person I just killed, I feel nothing but an overwhelming guilt. Brushing it away, I run with Mitch and we finally hit the trees.

We run as if our lives depended on it. Which it did.

Deamon's POV

The woods were dense. Heavy. Wet. You could feel the moisture in the air, and it weighed me down. I didn't like it. It didn't feel...right.

"When can we stop running?" Robin pants beside me. She wore complete gold armour, and it was weighing her down. I, myself, only had a chain helmet on. I was used to battling without armour, maybe not as a mortal, but I knew enough about self defense to protect myself. Sepia and Ellis also wore hardly any armour, just iron boots on Sepia and Ellis had chain leggings.

They knew we had to protect Robin with our lives.

The noise of someone running through the trees breaks through my concentration. "Now" I whisper, and we ground to a halt, trying not to breath too heavily. "Alsmiffy! Ross! Where are you?" a voice calls out, who I assume is Trott. Sure enough, he runs through the trees, tusks gleaming in the sunlight. Sepia has a bow, which he aims back and fires silently.

Boom.

He hits the ground. No pain at all-it was over quickly. The only blessing in these games is to hope that it is quick.

"C'mon, we need to get out of here before his team gets here" Ellis whispers. The two young generals took automatic leadership which I was annoyed at at first, but I shrugged it off. Running was the best option here, anyway.

We take off through the forest again and find a small house in the middle of a clearing. There are fences fencing off a large area of animals, like cows and pigs. I jump in, beginning to kill them, and collecting the food whilst Robin and the other two disappear inside the house. After a while, they come back, grins on their faces. Robin has swapped her golden armour for a dark matter helmet, red matter boots and a chain chestplate, and also has a red matter axe. Sepia looks pretty much the same, as does Ellis, but both carry red matter swords.

"We should get some rest" I yawn, stretching. "Shall we sleep in the house? It has beds and stuff?" Robin smiles. Looking up at the sky, I frown. It was night time already? "We need to meet Ridge and Tia back at the cornucopia. Come on, let's go" I sigh, and we begin to run back to the cornucopia.

By the time we get there, it's late at night and is around the middle of the night. Robin looked incredibly tired, and was beginning to stumble.

Minty was in the middle, sneaking up on an unsuspecting Ravs. We pause at the treeline, watching as she sneaks up and slits his throat with her iron sword, killing her pub rival cleanly and quickly.

Boom.

We walk out of the tree line, and she snaps her head up, glaring at us. She begins to walk forward, Sjin and Sips appearing too, walking towards us, holding their weapons tightly. We assume position, putting Robin at the back so she was safer.

The crackle of twigs behind them make them turn. We could of killed them then and there, but we pause too, to see who it is. Ridge, Tia, Ryan and Ana walk out casually, glaring at them heavily. They do the smart thing, and flee back into the trees.

We jog to the middle, smiling and hugging each other. "You guys OK?" Tia asks, hugging Robin fiercely. "Yes, we all are" I say stiffly. Did she think I wouldn't take care of her daughter? "We've been into a house near here, there are beds and stuff if you want to go there" I suggest. "No need. We've set up a base in the middle of a tree" Ridge smiles, gesturing for us to follow him.

Sighing, we jog after him, the drowsiness beginning to get to me. There had been no more deaths since Ravs, and it was strangely quiet.

We found the tree Ridge had been talking about, and we begin to climb up the vines. "I wish I could fly" Ridge grumbles. Ryan giggles and shoots past us. I stare at him in shock-did he still have his powers? But then I saw the jetpack on his back and the glare Ridge was giving him, and I snickered.

We reach the middle, where a small hole had been dug in the side of it. "Home sweet home" Tia murmurs, ducking in and automatically face planting onto the floor. I notice a wound in her arm. "Where'd you get that?" I ask, pointing at it. "Teep" she murmurs sleepily, beginning to shut her eyes. "I'll keep watch, I'm not too tired" Sepia smiles. "Thanks, Sep, wake me up when you get tired" Ellis smiles tiredly, nodding at him. Ana walks over to Tia, using her magic to heal her up.

"Since when can you still use magic?" I huff. She glances up and smirks at my angry gaze. "My magic is not part of my demigod powers." she says simply. Tia crawls over to Ridge who pulls her into his lap, wrapping his arms round Robin and Ryan. I stare awkwardly at Robin, but Ridge glares at me, shuffling himself closer to her so that I don't try anything.

Sighing tiredly, I curl up on the floor and fall asleep.
