Degroy's POV:

September 13, 1783.

I walked into the dusty tent. All of the Divine along with General Washington were there, reviewing plans. The only thing that seemed out of place was Gabriella. She looked like a child in the middle of a private conversation. I knew she was well over a thousand but, it's strange.

"While Lafayette is waiting in Chesapeake Bay, we'll push the troops back. All we need is-ah, Degroy!" Washington says, happily as usual. "Come in! I know for the past almost decade these kind people have been teaching you and your sister some things?"

"Y-Yes sir."

The four smiled at me, making me feel a bit more comfortable.

I'll miss them when they have to go...then again, it's not like I could go visit them, right? It has been almost ten years and I don't think the General would mind...

"Here, come read these and tell me what you think." Washington called for me.

I did as asked and looked over the plans. Immediately I got all the information from only looking at it for a few seconds. It can't believe from where I was at the age of twenty. I guess reading all those books after learning how to read was helpful.
Then, I noticed something. The Divine, along with only a quarter of the troops were charging at a battalion twice as large from the British side.

"They look stellar but, shouldn't they get more troops? They are facing a large amount." I suggested, looking out for the people I had come to care for.

"I see your concern but, they have assured me they'll be fine." George says, making me sigh heavily.

"Yeah, Degroy! We have magicks and have people who have fought in previous battles. We'll be fine!" Gabriella says, trying to cheer me up. "Besides, if anything will happen, we'll have at least known that we have past our knowledge to you-"

Zane elbowed her in mid-sentence. I know Gabriella tried her best when it came to encouragement but, in stressful situations, it back fires on her. She means good though.

"What my daughter was trying to say, is that everything will be fine." Garroth says, giving me a small smile.

I nodded. I left soon after, not really wanting to hear more.

Dylan's POV:

"For goodness sake, Zane! Did you really have to elbow me that hard?" Gabriella demanded. "Now, my arm will be sore tomorrow!"

"Sorry but, you were scaring Degory!"

"Who cares? He can take care of himself!"

"Would you two, please shut up!"

They did. Garroth had already blocked out the conversation. He was looking over papers. Letters, from the council.

"Heh, home sick?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes and smirked.

"Yeah. Just miss my own bed you know."

"Oh, right...you have insomnia." I say, a nervous tone in my voice. "I guess maybe having your own bed helps."

"A little. I'm hoping this plan works so we'll be home in a weeks time."

I nodded, a smile on my face, thinking of home. It's been...I don't even know. This war was suppose to be short. Three months or a year. Nope. Try eight. Sure, we have only been here seven but, Garroth hasn't even been in a war this long. Luckily, most of troops are still alive.

"Hey, Dad?" Gabriella says, loud enough to have all of our attention. "What about Degory and Tia? Are they coming with us?"

Garroth's smile faded away. Deborah has become a very close friend of his, I could tell along with his sister.

"Sweetie, I don't...know. The General..."

He trailed off. He hates the word and hates how he uses it to explain the situation to his own daughter.

"Owns...them?" She asked.

Garroth nodded, looking down. The two Ro'Meave brothers, along with John Laurens have been trying to abolish slavery for years. It doesn't make sense to them, especially when they came from, why human beings could go so...low.

"Father, Uncle Zane, Dylan, I think the General would be more than happy to help the two live...freely. Ru'an is a free country." Gabriella suggested.

"We'll see hunny. We'll see."

Zane didn't say anything. Just stood near the corner in our tent. I knew something was on his mind. I also knew...

He was going to do something.

Zane's POV:

Oh, was Dylan right. I was planning to do something. I know Garroth like the back of my hand. If I don't do it, he will. I barged into Washington's tent, he sat up straight in his bed, surprised. I had a pen in one hand while a piece of parchment paper in the other.

"Z-Zane?" George asked in surprised.

"I here to talk to you about something."

"Hm?"

I sighed.

"Look, I know you want to abolish slavery so, we all thought, to help make a...campaign, call it that or not. We want to bring Degory and Tia home with us."

He smiled.

"I would love to." His smile turned into a frown in a instant. "But, others would be furious. If they see that those two were free then, they should deserve it too."

He brought up a great point.

"I see. How about...no. That couldn't work. People would see the danger in Ru'an."

"By...?"

"Buying them from you."

He smirked.

"Hold that thought." He took my paper and pen and lays it flat on the table near him. "If I made a deal with you, that if you 'buy' them off of me, you would take them to your home, for labor."

"That defeats the purpose."

"Ah, hold on. You see, what if, we play it off as if you bought them from me to set them free when they were safe in Ru'an?"

"I see where this is going!" I say, my tone getting higher with delight. "I like your thinking."

"Why thank you." He signed the paper, along with justifying that they belonged to the Ro'Meave household. "Here. When you return home, make sure to keep in touch with me."

"Of course."

With that, and a thank you, I left the tent and returned to our's.

"Where-What is that?" Garroth asked, when he saw me enter.

"Washington's signature telling us that we have full custody of Degory and Tia." I say, waving it in his face.

"Really?!" Gabriella exclaimed, jumping out of bed.

"This...This is amazing, Zane!" Garroth says, giving me a hug.

"Yes. Now, when they set foot on Ru'an they'll be free."

September 15, 1783

Garroth's POV:

After a day of preparing, we were finally on he battle field. My battalion consisted of Zane and Gabriella, magicks users, and Ru'anian soldiers. The uniforms were gold and white, gold buttons made them looked finished and tidy.

Cadenza's direct descendant made them.

Gabriella loved wearing them, being that it was pants and a jacket. Not a dull, heavy dress.

Usually, she would be enthusiastic about fighting off enemies that threatens her friends. Yet, she looked like she was about to fall into tears. Before I reached the front to lead, I pulled her aside, telling Zane to keep going. I knelt down, looking at her in her cerulean blue eyes.

"Are you okay?"

"D-Daddy...I'm scared."

As she said that, she seemed to grip her pistol more, her fists turning white.

"We haven't used any of these...things before in battle. What if I freeze, then I'm a goner? W-What...What if I lose you?"

"Oh, Ella...you're never going to lose me. You're my little girl and it's my nightmare to ever leave your side." I say, putting my hands on her shoulders. "Besides, you've grown so strong during these centuries. Becoming more like your Mother every passing day." Tears were coming to my eyes. "It kills me to know you have to go through this but, you're my sunshine and won't let anything happen to you."

She almost made me collapse in a hug. My hat went floating down. She hugged me tightly, me doing the same, trying not to sob. When we released, she picked up my hat and placed it on my head again.

"Don't break Mommy's promise now."

I chuckled as I got up. With that, we rushed back to the battalion. I knew, if I didn't make it, Zane would. He would be there for her.

I surprised him with a hug when I came running by. He smiled and I smiled back.

"Come on. We're heroes. Let's not die now, shall we?" I asked, pointing at the three horses that we refused to ride here.

He clasped his hand around mine.

"Let's."

Dylan was with Washington. I thankfully said goodbye to him if something happened to me. I got on my horse, steadying myself.

"Geez, over a thousand years and still can't get on right?"
