II Stuck Together II Horace Modern AU
**Horaces's POV ***
Faster! Faster! He chanted to himself as he bolted to toward the elevator. He's gonna miss the wards reunion! He cursed himself for the thousandth time for oversleeping. Dressed casually he had a white polo shirt and some ripped jeans. Ding! The elevator chimed and so did his phone.
(A/N I tried to recreate a phone lol)
Gilan
WTF? Where the heck r u?
Coming at the elevator.
Srry 4 being late
Np man but hurry up. Evanlyn's new 'boyfriend' is getting grumpy
Horace shoved his phone into his pocket and picked up the pace. He saw a girl who looked about Horace's age running too. She wore a simple Y/F/C dress with a black belt and denim jacket. Her eyes had a sense of urgency to them. She had perfectly natural Y/H/C curls that bounced up and down as though they were excited. A leather handbag slung over her shoulders. She kept shifting on her low platform Y/F/C heels and kept checking her phone. For some reason, I felt like I knew her. But it didn't stop me from drawing an intake of breath on how beautiful she looks.
"Crap I'm so late" I heard her mutter.
"Looks like I'm not the only late to the reunion" I muttered happily. What? Can you blame a guy for being happy that he's not the only one late in the most awkward situation?. Horace shoved his hands into his pockets and bounced on his feet. After what seemed like years the elevator opened. Both of them rushed inside before the door could even open properly.
"I'm assuming your here for the reunion too?" I finally spoke as the door closed.
"Yep," She said popping the 'p'. "And late too might I add". I laughed.
"I don't remember you too well," I asked her even though she seemed familiar.
"Did we meet?" I asked again. She shook her head.
"Me neither, I wouldn't know that your here for the reunion if you didn't tell me" She replied.
A curtain of silence draped between us.
"Horace," I said breaking the silence. She smiled ever so slightly but it lit up her features like a thousand suns.
"Y/N" She replied to me. Then hit me why seemed so vaguely familiar... She is my oldest crush. But she'd always been in her 'circle' of friends and I had been in mine. My feelings had been suppressed after all these years but... they had been ripped open like a bandaid.
"No way!" She exclaimed. "My gods Horace you changed a lot".
"I'll take that as a compliment" I replied grinning. She laughed.
"It is one" She agreed.
"You were so skinny and your braces made your cheeks so adorable" She recalled. I cleared my throat eager to divert the subject from my rather embarrassing looks at the time.
"Someone's not eager to trip down memory lane" She teased.
"I'm not talking about our field trip here am I?" I accused her. She glared at me then laughed.
"None of you are going to let me live that down are you?" She grumbled before letting out an exasperated sigh. I remembered how Gilan had thrown a rubber snake into her bunk during our field trip. She screamed knocked over a jug of water onto Mr. O'Carrick and Principle Duncan. Crowley our vice-principal had to take him to the medic because the water drenched him so bad he caught a cold! But a vigorous shaking snapped me out of my thoughts.
"What the-" I started before being knocked over. The elevator shook and the lights blinked continuously. Y/N clung to the bars for her dear life but was then thrown backward colliding into me.
"You ok?" I asked her. She got up and nodded.
"Elevator probably stopped" She noted. I pulled myself up and winced. Y/N noticed my face contract with pain.
"Horace," She said in a steely voice. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing" I replied much too quickly. But the effort took a toll on my ribs. I resisted the urge to cry out in pain.
"Where does it hurt?" She asked me starting to look for the spot that was bruised.
"Like I said before it's nothing." I protested shying away from her.
"Horace Altman. I will personally bruise you and call an ambulance if you won't let me do my job." She ordered me.
"You're a doctor?" I gawked at her surprised.
"No, I'm a pilot. Of course, I'm a doctor I just said that." She scoffed sarcasm dripping. Her Y/E/C softened.
"It's my ribs" I grunted out finally.
"About time!" She chided. She gently placed her hands on one of my ribs.
"Does it hurt here?" She inquired. I shook my head, taking her hand I placed it at the spot where it stung over and over.
"Take your shirt off." She instructed. I looked at her surprised.
"Stop thinking dirty thoughts Altman" She uttered. I let out a light chuckles which I immediately regretted. Ow was the only thing on my head other than... well... dirty thoughts. I looked up at her and saw her eyes which looked like melted steel. Meekly I complied and took my shirt off. She pulled out a first aid kit from her handbag.
"Who keeps a first aid kit in their handbag?" I wondered out loud.
"Me. And if I didn't have it you could go around writhing in pain" She responded dryly. She poured some kind of clear liquid into the tissue and set it aside. Kneeling forward she inspected the injury. Once again dirty thoughts filled my head. I craned my head over to get a look at my ribs. They were slightly red.
"Nothing major" She concluded after rubbing the tissue against the wound. She gently touched the wound.
"Does it hurt?" She asked her voice softened with concern. Honestly, at that moment I couldn't feel anything other than her touch and a lot of heat on my face. I shook my head not trusting myself to speak. I stood up and immediately realized that I felt better. I held out a hand to help out Y/N. Gratefully she took my hand. Standing up we were face to face.
"Is it wrong I want to kiss you?" I murmured.
"Shut up Altman" She snorted. "You ruined the moment"
Before she could say anything further I kissed her. I know making out in an elevator? Cheap right? Ha! Try getting stuck in an elevator with your oldest crush. She was startled and broke away.
"So..." I muttered cursing myself to have better control over my body.
"That became awkward really fast" She agreed. The elevator shook and started moving again. I grabbed my white polo and pulled it over quickly. It ruffled up my hair and made it look untidy. I reached to fix it but Y/N stopped me.
"It looks better that way," She told me before running her fingers through it. I grinned.
"I thought you said you didn't like me," I asked ever so innocently.
"I gave you a compliment learn how to take one" She grumbled but smiled. The elevator doors creaked open.
"A cup of coffee after the reunion?" I asked her ever so casually. She pretended to think and check her schedule on her phone.
"Maybe." She told me at last before walking away. You know, maybe this reunion won't be such a damn nuisance. Who cares about exes? I just scored a date with my dream girl. I sighed happily and greeted my old friends.
