**** Your POV ****

I stood there waiting impatiently for that good for nothing goof off to show up.

"Right on time." A man emerged from behind the trees.

"Late." I corrected him. He threw his cowl off, a mop of untidy flaming red hair came into view. I scoffed at his chosen attire.

"We're attending a gala. Not some hunting party." I mocked him. Crowley put his hands up in surrender.

"I'll change. Besides, we're infiltrating a gala." Crowley rolled his eyes and admonished me. I sighed at his childishness. I looked up from my own pity party (Which was about the partner I'd been assigned) and saw that the goof had disappeared.

"Where the heck are you, you blithering bastard?" I half-shouted.

"Right behind you." A voice spoke eerily calm. I turned around and flicked the dagger in the direction of the sound.

"Gorlog's beard woman! Are you trying to kill me?" Crowley demanded. I took a moment to ignore him and take in his new attire.

"You clean up nicely," I noted.

"Are we going to ignore the fact that you threw a dagger at me?" Crowley parroted his accusation.

"Yes." A cold yet familiar voice answered.

"Hello Halt." I greeted without bothering to turn around.

"How come I nearly get killed but Halt doesn't?" Crowley demanded.

"Maybe cause I don't annoy every single person I meet." Halt hissed under his breath.

"Children, why don't you let the girls talk?" Pauline sighed exasperatedly.

"Y/N," Pauline smiled a greeting.

"Pauline." I smiled happily.

At least there's one other person who has a brain.

"Regroup here at sun-rise-" Pauline instructed.

"-And share the information." I finished her sentence.

"Pauline, you've parroted that for so long that I have it memorized!" I mocked exhaustion. Pauline bit her lips.

"Sorry, I consider it important mission jitters." She sighed and cradled her head in her arms.

"You're going to do great Pauline." I coaxed her while having butterflies and jitters of my own.

"Well, ladies, shall we?" Crowley grunted. Annoyed with his behavior, but slightly tensed up I rose.

"Let's go," Pauline spoke in a commanding tone. Crowley laced his hands with mine.

"Bonjour, how can we help you?" A guard asked in a gruff tone.

"Ugh! Darling, would you look at their guts? Such behavior." I spoke in a french accent. Crowley grunted and eyed the guards darkly.

Good boy, you know you can't speak with a french accent to save your life.

"Ah, madamé, comment allez vous?" An attendant dress in flashy clothing faked a smile.

"Bien, et toi?" I kept a posh edge to my voice.

"How can I help you?" The attendant smiled and eyed Crowley warily. Crowley bristled up in rage and I narrowed my eyes on the small pudgy attendant.

"How dare you! We get an invite from the palace. I say let's not go. But nooo! You just wanted to go Jacques." I glared at Crowley with fierce mock anger.

"We came all this way just to get insulted." I spat with venom.

"Sorry! Come right this way." The attendant ushered us inside. The moment we were alone I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"I'm starting to feel useless." Crowley sighed.

"Just nod and grunt," I muttered.

"And remember, we're the duke and duchess of the Celts. You're Jacques and I'm Marie. We just got engaged." I reminded him.

"That I wouldn't mind," Crowley murmured.

"Which bit?" I snorted.

How much this idiot loves being pampered!

"Being engaged to you." He whispered into my ear, sending a chill down my spine. He wrapped an arm around me. The contact sent heat rushing up to my cheeks.

"Shall we Duchess?" Crowley gestured to the doors. I smiled and nodded, I felt a bit flushed. Pauline waved me over.

"Are you alright?" She fretted her voice filled with concern, but she made sure to use a french accent to avoid suspicion.

"Fine." I huffed and looked away.

"No, it's just that your cheeks are as red as Crowley's hair." Pauline yawned pretending to be bored.

"Isn't it obvious?" A noble-woman cackled.

"She and her fiancé were in a different room before they came in." The noble-woman elaborated much to my sorrow. Pauline sent a questioning glance at me, to which I shook my head. Crowley and I made eye-contact, he gestured for me to get over there. A noble kept bugging him. I stifled a laugh and made my way to him.

"Bonjour." The noble greeted.

"Ah, Bonjour." I smiled at the noble. The smile was tight and fake.

Perfect.

"Your fiancé doesn't talk much does he?" The noble noted with what remained of his dignity.

"Ah, back home he is a chatterbox. It'd do my ears if he keeps quiet." I told the noble honestly.

This was no lie, I wondered if his mouth hurt from all that talking.

.........

Flashback ended.

"That time we'd lied about being engaged, but now we really are," Crowley laughed recalling how annoyed I was the whole time. He snuggled into the crook of my neck.

"Gods! I was red for at least a week." I laughed. Crowley threw his arms around me and used me as a teddy bear.

"Get off me you large, over-weight bison!" I squirmed, in an attempt to worm out of his grip. He made himself heavier.

"Not a chance." He grinned.

"Remind me why I'm in love with you again?" I sighed annoyed with his childish behavior.

"Perhaps it was my devilish looks. Or maybe my overwhelming charm." Crowley mused.

"Neither, I think it was more of an accident." I flashed him a smile.

"Well, in that case, it was a very happy accident for me," Crowley murmured, our foreheads touching. I gave him a weak smile. Our lips brushed-

"Hello?" Pauline stuck her head in. Startled, I shoved Crowley away.

"Oof!" He exclaimed as he landed on his butt.

"Uh... I'll go... just continue whatever you were doing." Pauline smiled and waved me away.

"That hurts," Crowley complained nursing his backside. I rolled my eyes at his childishness.

"However we fell in love." I muttered under my breath.

"Don't you remember?" He smiled.
