Don't Run From Who You Are (Part 2) // Edmund Imagine
Edmund's P.O.V
I got off the horse, tied it back on the tree and entered the chalet.
Strangely, I felt some kinda of tension in the air. But the chalet seemed pretty cozy, though.
The young lady in front of me looked uncomfortable, and she was trying not to look at me.
A awkward silence was made among us. But when I thought to open my mouth to break the silence, she made it first.
- I'm sorry! - she said, problably for slamming the door on my face.
I looked right at her, but wasn't looking at me.
- Apology Accepted. - I said.
She finally looked at me, frowning.
Another seconds of awkward silence...
- So... - I cleared my throat, like coughing. - may I have a seat or should I stand like this anyway? - I said, more like teasing her.
This is my way of breaking the ice. Awful.
- Oh! Yes! Please, seat! - she said, releasing a giggle.
I seated on a simple wooden chair.
- Um... would your ... Majesty like to drink some tea? - she asked.
- Yes, please. Um... and you can call me Edmund.
- Oh, ok.
Quickly the tea was ready.
- Here. - she said, giving the cup to me, and seated.
- Thank you so much.
- First of all, I want to apologize for knocking on your door so late at night, Ada...
- Swords. Ada Swords. - she added.
- Ada Swords. - I repeated. - So, I'm really sorry if I woke you up, Ada.
- In fact, I was still awake. It's ok. - she gave me a small smile, but her eyes was showing me fear and discomfort.
I drank a little bit more of my cup of the tea, and started to talk about what I needed to.
- I came here for a reason. Actualy, I didn't expect to meet you. But someone greater meant, if I can say so.
- Aslan! - Ada said, it was not a question but a statement.
I frowned.
- How do you know?
- He always finds a way to find me. - she said, looking to the ground.
- Do you know Aslan? Have you met him?
- Yes. - that was all she said.
I knew she had her own questions of why I was there, but I had my own questions too.
- Where are you from? - I asked her, puzzled.
- I'm from Earth.
- Earth? You're from my world?
She nodded.
- When did you came to Narnia? Why-Why are you here? Why Aslan called you? - I asked more puzzled then before.
- Um... Sorry, I don't what to talk about it. - Ada said, getting up from her seat.
She went to the sink, turning her back to me.
- Sorry, I don't want to bother you, but I came here for a reason. - I got up from my seat too. - Aslan said Narnia needs you, and that you need us too.
- I don't think so. - she made a pause, then snorted. - I don't even see him anymore.
- But he is definitely seeing you. He watches you. That's why he wanted me to find you. Because you're here in the middle of the woods, alone, and just for looking at you for the first time at the door i could tell that something is wrong with you.
- What am I supposed to do, hun? - she asked. - Fight?
- Maybe.
- One more person doesn't make any difference.
I got to her side to look at her face.
- Look, I don't know what he wants, but come and let's find out ... Why are you crying?
I noticed a tear rolling down her face. She was looking into the sink. She was avoiding looking at me.
- Why are you crying, Ada? - I asked again.
- Please, leave me alone. - she said.
- Ada, look at me.
She stayed the same.
- Ada... - I almost mumbled.
She turned her head to me, looking me in the eyes.
- I know I don't even know you, but you can tell me what's the matter. I need to understand. - I said.
- Please... - she went straight to the door, opening it.
I followed her.
I saw one of her hands shaking.
- What do you fear? What are you afraid of?
- Of not being capable. Of not being good enough.
She again was avoinding looking me in the eyes.
She took a deep breath.
- I was a traitor. I was. Can you think of something worst than that? Because of what I did, I deserved to be hated. But what happened was totally the opposite. So, if what I did not stopped me from receiving a crown, from being called The Just, from fighting battles alongside the narnians and from being a friend to Aslan, what can stop you? Nothing.
Ada looked at me. Her eyes showing a kind of relief.
- You can do what you need to do, and you can be who you need to be.
I didn't know why I said all that, but I said.
She said nothing. And I was okay with that.
I rode my horse again, back to Aslan's How.
It was still very dark out there, but it was not raining anymore.
