"Fylin!" You call, opening his bedroom door. You look around your son's empty room and raise your eyebrows. You walk back into the hallway. "Fylin? Where are you?" You ask loudly.
Fili walks down the hall. "Hey, Y/N." He says, smiling. "Fili, have you seen Fylin?" You ask. "I haven't seen him since this morning, and I was going to go practice archery with him." You add. Fili thinks for a moment and then shakes his head. "I can't say that I have. Have you checked with Kili?" He asks. You shake your head. "I was just going to go there now." You answer. He puts a hand on your shoulder. "He'll show up. I'll let you know if I see him." He says, giving you a reassuring smile. A faint one makes its way across your lips. "Thanks, Fili."
You walk off to go find Kili, your husband, all the while calling out your son's name.
You find Kili in the armory, checking out an arrow. He looks up to see you and he grins. "Y/N," He greets. He looks around you to see if you brought Fylin with you. "Where's Fylin?" He asks. "You mean he's not with you?" You ask, raising your eyebrows.
Kili's smile disappears and a concerned look takes over his face. "No. I thought you were going to get him so we can practice archery." He answers. You sigh and cross your arms, biting your lip. "I know. But when I went to go get him in his room, he wasn't there. I thought maybe Fili has saw him somewhere but he hasn't." You say, suddenly feeling panicked.
Kili sets the arrow down and walks over to you. He puts his hands on your shoulders and meets your eyes. "Y/N, don't start to panic. I see the fear in your eyes. He's probably with Thorin." He says, squeezing your shoulders. You shake your head. "N-no. Thorin left Erebor early this morning before Fylin was even up. Dis was telling me about it at breakfast." You say, eyes looking around nervously. "Let's just search through Erebor one last time. He has to be around here somewhere." Kili says, taking your hand. He kisses you softly. "We'll find him, don't worry." He whispers. You meet his eyes and see the blatant fear in them.
Hours later after Kili and you finish checking all of Erebor, you run to Fylin's room, heart in your throat. "Fylin?" You ask, hopefully. Silence meets you and you're on the verge of tears. You look around his room and see a note on his dresser. Your eyebrows draw and you walk over to it, picking the note up. You look at your small child's handwriting and read it. As you finish the last sentence, your tears have flooded the note. "Kili!" You yell, voice cracking. A long moment later he runs in the room, face pale. "What! What is it?" He asks, desperately. You hand him the note, breathing heavy. "Fylin. He's run away." You answer, eyes wide with horror.
