Chapter One
How Far I'll Go
Recommended Song:
How Far I'll Go by Alessia Cara
Rey Kenobi, felt her knees turn jelly, and her heartbeat pace quicker than usual. She was in the edge of panic, swelling in excitement.
First day of Tatooine Music Academy was today, and Rey absolutely enjoyed it there. It was a chance to get away from her foster father Unkar Plutt - and to express herself through her passion - music.
I've been staring at the edge of the water, 'long as I can remember, never really knowing why. Rey's phone beeped, as a message was received, halting the music for a moment.
I wish, I could be the perfect daughter, Rey opens the phone, as Alessia Cara's voice continued to echo throughout her room. A message from Unkar :
Unkar : Get down here, Kenobi. Surely, you don't wanna be late, huh, punk?
Rey tossed her phone at the side and sighed. Every turn I take, every trail I track..
Rey hums the tune, as she fits herself in tight blue girlfriend jeans, which gave her a slightly girlish look, paired with red and black cotton plaid shirt.
See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me. Rey rolled the sleeves up her elbows, and brushed the dust off her battered brown Timberland boots, that Unkar gave her for her 15th birthday.
Surprisingly, it still fits Rey, as she slipped in a pair of white socks, and tied the shoelaces tightly together, after wearing them quickly.
A beep again, from the phone. Rey briefly checked it :
Unkar : Kenobi! What is taking you, so damn long!? I am thinking twice in feeding you already, and offering to bring you to your stupid school.
Rey quickened her pace, as she swiftly - and hastily - swiped for her navy blue Fjall Raven that was given to her as a gift by one of her father's good friends - or whom she call as Uncle Luke.
One day I'll know, if I go there's just no telling how far I'll - Rey pressed the pause button, and the song drowned out, just when Unkar burst inside.
"What were you doing?! You're wasting the gas of my car." He scolded Rey, who just hung her head, pocketing her mobile phone in her jeans.
"Sorry." was what Rey mutter, before stuffing earphones and slinging her Fjall Raven on her shoulder. Unkar grunted back, but he didn't reply.
Rey descended down the stairs, leading to the garage - where Rey grew so familiar with.
Unkar usually let her do the automobile work, and she didn't mind it unlike she did before. Rey became fascinated with gears, and mechanical works - next to music, of course.
Rey didn't bother to change the way her hair was in three messy buns. She liked it that way, away from her face.
So she could concentrate in music, and not fuss over her hair, unlike the other girls in her year, who always fix and fuss over how they look.
Honestly, Rey couldn't care less. They obviously wanted to impress boys, or their boyfriends.
She wrinkled her nose. Rey was never a sucker for those sappy and romantic emotions, due to the fact that her attendance in Tatooine Music Academy, was merely just a scholarship.
Rey's lucky enough to receive that much already, despite Unkar's disagreements. She just couldn't pass it all up. Everything she's achieved.
Unkar drops her off in front of the academy's gates. "There. Now you owe me, Kenobi." Rey rolled her eyes slightly, before exiting the car.
"I won't pick you up later, okay!" Unkar shouted, over the wind and the students' chattering. Rey sighed, and didn't bother to answer.
Her boots squished as her Timberlands met with the wet surface of the ground. Rey didn't care less. Shoes are meant to be soiled, used, and dirty, anyways.
"Hey, Rey!" She turned, and Rey almost knocked into the school's popular boy, Poe Dameron.
Black tousled hair. Perfect and sparkly white teeth. Contagious grin. School's star student. That was Poe.
Rey seemed startled at how this boy knew her, for she never talked to him. Much less introduce herself. "Um, hi?"
Poe flashed his famous sexy grin. "What's up? You decked out nice today." He complimented, with a flirtatious wink. Rey almost scoffed.
Aside from being a popular boy, Poe was a flirt. He flirted with almost every girl in school. Rey didn't understand how could she attract his attention? There are prettier and way more attractive students, than Rey.
"I'm fine. Excuse me." Rey said, and left Poe there. She didn't really like anything to do with the man. It's not that she hated him - honestly, Rey doesn't know how people won't - but it's more on that she doesn't wanna get involved with Poe.
A strand of hair rested on her forehead, before Rey brushed it off. There were many students, surprisingly. Rey made sure to avoid big crowds.
Rey looks over at the distance. A boy - blond, lean and muscular -, and a girl - brunette, slim and pretty -, both are making out under a tree. Rey had the urge to vomit in the school yard.
It seems likely that Rey wasn't paying much attention, that she ran into someone, and books went flying.
Rey almost panicked, when she saw it was a boy. "I'm so sorry!" She apologized meekly, and skidded down the floor to help him get his books.
Rey couldn't help a glance at him. The man had black curls of long, flowing hair. He had a perfect jawline, and a lean body build. That's when it hit her.
Kylo Ren. Rey yelped, in all surprise and in panic - even more. Ben looked at her with a furrowed expression on his face. Rey heard whispers from behind.
Kylo Ren was the popular boy, even more than Poe Dameron. Some murmur behind his back that Kylo Ren wasn't even his real name, and that he never told anyone his real name.
Many said that he had a bad temper, and Rey remembered about it. That was reason one why she panicked. Reason two..
was because he looked devilishly hot.
Rey always heard that Ben was the hottest student in school, but he never let his guard down, until recently..
He has a girlfriend, Rey thought glumly. She sighed in the inside. Kylo Ren stared at her, which made her feel rather.. Blushy.
Rey never felt that way with another person, much less a male. Rey was infuriated with the man. "Sorry." Rey said again, remembering that he didn't forgive her yet.
"It's fine. Not much of a big deal."
Kylo's voice reached her ears, and Rey felt surprised by his reply. She thought that it'll be harder than that.
"I like your shirt." was all Kylo said, before he clutched his books tightly to his chest and left. Rey's quick heartbeat thudded against her chest.
Kylo Ren just complimented me..?
Hello, dear readers! This is the new fanfic I'll be focusing on. I do hope that you'll recommend this to your friends. For those of you who are reading my other Star Wars fanfiction, I may be a bit slow in updating that because I'm losing ideas for it. But do not worry! It'll still be up.
