Chapter Four
Sound of Your Heart
Recommended Song:
Sound of Your Heart by Shawn Hook
Rey let out a sigh, as she closes her locker door, and turns to see Poe Dameron grinning widely
in front of her. Great, she thought.
"Um, hello, Poe!" She tried to say as cheerful as possible, to mask the annoyance she felt in reality. Poe seemed oblivious enough to believe her fake demeanor and winked flirtatiously.
"Hey, Lady Kenobi. You look dang fine today." Poe immediately flirted, and Rey almost puked. What a horrible freak, she thought angrily. How dare he flirt with her!
"Yeah, thanks. Gotta go now. Bye." said Rey, before fleeing from the Dameron. He frustrated her, and Rey didn't like how their relationship was going on.
"Hey, uh, Rey, right?" She looked back to see the silhouette of Kylo Ren. Compared to Rey's petite form, Kylo looked like a giant here.
"Yeah. What's up?" Rey opted for casual talk. She didn't mind talking with Kylo, even if he was good friends with Dameron, and was part of the popular clique.
For some reason, he made her feel safe, and kept her interested. Rey liked it.
"Hey, Kylo boy!" Rey suddenly flinched at the sound of her. Not. Her. She thought, in annoyance and almost groaned.
Padmé's face came into view, with a fake smile plastered in her pretty face. Rey wanted to puke at her plastic attitude.
"What are you doing here? Come on, Kylo. Don't tell me you were talking to her." She gestured at Rey, as if she wasn't there at all.
"No." Kylo simply said, but he slung his arm around her shoulder and hoist her up, with Padmé giggling. Rey heard only hollow sounds.
They left, and Rey couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy towards the young couple. She immediately brushed the thought away.
It was a Wednesday, and Rey knew that she was going to Ben's this afternoon, after school. She envisioned how his house might look like (he lived near the school, in Tatooine Avenue) and how his room may be as messy as hell.
Heck, why are you judging this man, already? Rey silently said, and she just shrugged when someone tapped her shoulder.
"H..huh?" She turned to see Lucas smiling. "Oh! Hey, Lucas." Rey says, as a blush is yet erupting again on her high cheekbones.
"What's your next class?"
"Professor Calrissian"
"Great! Mine too."
Rey couldn't hardly stand still at the fact that she and Lucas were having the next same class, so Rey just started walking towards the room.
"Do you know the professor? I heard of him, they say that he was a huge player." Surprisingly, Lucas knew Professor Calrissian. Rey wondered who he heard that from.
Lando Calrissian was another professor who was skilled in playing the drums - like Lucas - but he was also a playboy. He often flirted with some girls in class, and in some circumstances, he wounded up flirting with Rey.
"Hey, Rey!" She turned to feel another clap on her shoulder. Rey found herself looking at Gwen, who was grinning from ear to ear. "Hey, uh, Gwen."
"Hello." Her dirty white blonde hair hung behind her ears, as Gwen smiled broadly at Rey. Gwen wasn't unattractive, yes, but sometimes she acted too boy-like.
Gwen Phasma was one of Rey's few friends - or acquaintances, as Rey thought so - when she started out in the academy. Gwen stuck up for her, and sometimes defended her from Padmé when she interfered.
"Who's he?" Gwen gestured at Lucas, who was staring at Gwen, with wide eyes. "Oh! I'm Lucas. Lucas Galloway." He traded fist bumps with Gwen, and she smiled.
"Oookay, now Lucas and I have to get going. See you soon, Gwen." Rey frowned, when Gwen left immediately, with a quick farewell, and Rey had her hazel eyes fixed on where she was going to.
"You don't like her that much, do you?"
A sigh. "Not really."

"Class, I know that it's just third day of classes, but we have to discuss something crucial. You are graduating in two years, and we cannot afford for you students not to carry the school's name with glory." Lando raised his hands up, as if he was calling out at the skies, and some snickered behind his back.
"So that is why I have to tell you this."
Rey shifted uncomfortably in her desk, as Lucas beside her just stared blankly at the professor, his glassy eyes fixed on him.
"This year, we decided to have a school band. A band of players who are the best of the best. We plan on bringing them in competitions, and national contests. To uphold the glory, and never take it away from this school."
Interest started to fill, as murmurs were heard among the class. One shouted. "Will you join, Sir? Be the flirty drummer!"
Lando ignored the shout. "Auditions will be next week Monday, during my class. It is totally optional, but you do get plus points in all classes if you get in."
"Plus you get to go to concerts, and participate in competitions abroad."
Noise started to take over, but Lando put his hand up for silence. Surprisingly, most calmed down. But some were dancing on their seats, too preoccupied and jolly to cooperate.
Rey sighed, as she turned to listen to Lando. "So that will be my announcement. Now it's your free time - do whatever you want."
Chattering continued, as Rey tried to find peace within herself. A school band. Rey couldn't help but be excited. She must get in. It was a chance! A once in a lifetime kind of chance! Plus, she wouldn't always be stuck at home with Unkar, forcing her to do labor work.
"Hey, you gonna audition?" Lucas asked her, and Rey nodded almost immediately. Lucas nodded. "Cool, me too. I'm either going to try it out, or chicken out." He jokes, but Rey did not smile one bit, when her gaze landed elsewhere.
At the corner, Rey found Padmé and Kylo Ren acting all lovey-dovey, and they were kissing each other, Rey finding herself disgusted.
She glanced away before she had any further thoughts. Lucas looked at her with concern, but didn't say anything.
The bell rang, and Rey immediately exited the classroom, without looking back. Little do they know that silent tears were falling down her cheeks, one by one.

You were my courage, my sword and shield
Rey blocked off the outside sound, as the blaring music played in her earphones.
Grace under pressure, my wall of steel
Rey decided to walk towards Kylo's house, judging that it was near the school. She just put on her earphones to ignore any people.
I was a stone weighing us down,
Rey couldn't help but remember Kylo, how she was somehow drawn to him. She might never know, but she will Not. Fall. For. Him.
You were the angel I chained to the ground
Rey remembered Lucas, how he seemed so angelic towards her. Was this line to him? Or was it something else?
I miss the way- Rey stopped the music, when she arrived at the block. She didn't see any ordinary looking house in the distance, so Rey rechecked the address.
Death Star Street, Tatooine Avenue
- The black-gray painted house
Rey only spotted something like that, near where she was standing on. It was practically like a mansion, a big one. Painted black and gray, too. Rey wondered if Kylo Ren was rich.
She took her chances.
Rey walked towards the house - mansion's gates and rang the doorbell and took a deep breath. A butler opened the gate, with a raised look on his face.
"Um, for Kylo Ren? I'm Rey Kenobi." She told the butler, who nodded. "Wait here." He told her, before going back inside.
Rey bounced on her boots, as her buns hung messily on top of her head. She looked someone who hasn't fixed herself in years, but Rey didn't mind her appearance.
Why would he care anyway? Rey thought, when the gate door suddenly opened again, and she was face to face with Kylo Ren.
And now Rey found herself wishing she, at least brushed her hair a bit.
Haha! I just had to end it there, because I'm feeling a bit tired right now. I'm going to continue this maybe tomorrow, or later but for now, bye! Last update for today! Goodnight!
