Chapter 11 - Getting Ready
I was downstairs, getting ready for the day. I had already showered, brushed my teeth, and gotten dressed. Now, I was just packing me and Jack's lunches, waiting for his lazy butt to come downstairs. I sighed, pouring some of the mayonnaise on Jack's sandwich. "Jack! Are you ready? We have to leave in less than half an hour!" I yelled. No response. I got a bit worried, what if there were side effects to that pill? What if he fell down in the shower and is lying there, cold and unconscious?
My thoughts got the better of me and I started booking it upstairs. "Jack!?" I yelled, extremely scared. "C-Celia?" Jack's faint voice called out of the bathroom, his head peeking out, his hair wet and dripping with water. I could tell he just jumped out of the shower, he hadn't even dried his hair! I rolled my eyes. "Jack, if you want to come to school with me, you're going to have to hurry up!"
Jack's eyes darted side to side. "I-I can't.." He stuttered. I started to get a bit mad. "Jack, come on, stop being lazy and get dressed." "Celia, my clothes are all invisible. I am naked with only a towel wrapped around my waist and I have no clothes whatsoever." Wow. That took me by surprise. My eyes widened, for some reason my cheeks went into flames.
"O-Oh..um..I-I think I have something for you..stay there!" I screamed, stuttering on almost every word. Jack nodded and shrunk back in embarrassment, cowering in the bathroom. I covered my eyes and fell to my knees, not believing what I just heard and very easily could have saw! I heard the bathroom door creak open again. "C-Celia? Are you okay?" I didn't respond to him out of sheer awkwardness and the fact that my mouth was taped with the tape of embarrassment.
"Celia!" He yelled, thinking I had passed out and fallen to the ground or something. I should have gotten up the second I heard the door slam against the wall. I knew he was running out to me. He better have that towel on. I whipped my head around and saw Jack towering over me like the freaking tallest, most handsome building ever. Thankfully, he had a towel around his waist..but he was shirtless.
I felt like crying. "Jack! I'm fine! Holy crap! Y-You..um..c-chest.." I whispered. Jack started laughing the cutest laugh in the entire world. Wait, what am I thinking? Calling him cute and handsome..what am I doing!? Why do I feel different? This is weird. I need to get this boy some clothes before my nose starts to bleed. "Jack, follow me to pick out your new clothes." I walked into my dad's room with Jack following me closely behind. I opened my dad's closet doors and looked through his shirts and jeans.
"No..nope..dear god, why does he have this shirt? Okay, um..ah! Here we are." I pulled out an over sized hoodie. "This was my dad's during his teenage years. He keeps it because he thinks it makes him young or something." I laughed. Jack laughed with me, his eyes sparkling brightly. "It looks a bit like my old one." After giving him that, I picked out his jeans and let him pick out his own underwear.
After helping him with that, I went back downstairs to finish making our lunches. I couldn't shake the thought of him hiding behind the bathroom door out of my head. I can't even believe that I didn't know his clothes were invisible. I'm so glad my dad kept his younger, smaller clothes over the years. Hopefully they'll fit the 17-year-old.
After I was done making our lunches, I looked up and saw Jack leaning by the door wearing the clothing I had picked out for him. He looked..really great. "Jack! You look..awesome. Those clothes really suit you." I complimented, my face red. Jack smirked at me, pushing his hair back. "Aw, thanks, Celia." Jack smiled, his teeth a bright white.
I gave him his backpack filled with textbooks, papers, pens, and his lunch. "Everything you need for school is in this bag, don't worry about anything. I have everything prepared for you." I smiled at him, holding out the backpack. He took it, slung it over his shoulder, and held my hands in his. "Thank you, Celia. Seriously, what would I do without you?" He leaned over and kissed my cheek.
Whoah man, my face was so red and bright. "O-Oh..no problem!" I smiled at him. I slung my backpack over my shoulder. "Should we get going?" He smiled and nodded at me. I smiled and opened the door for him, walking outside. I never took the bus, so I always had time to walk and talk with Jack, but now it would be different because our conversation would be real.
Maybe him being real wouldn't be so confusing and scary after all.
