Nilson spent 12 years of his life to perfectly demonstrate how foetus develops and life grows. His work was published in 1965 in LIFE titled 'Drama of Life Before Birth'- this issue became so popular that it was sold out instantly. It immediately gained traction and was also published in some of the most renowned newspapers and magazines existed then. These pictures, still, contain power in them to garner immediate attention of the reader.

In fact, all but one photograph is a real fetus which had to be removed. Nilsson had stuck a special deal with the hospital to photograph it so as to include the pictures in his breath-taking saga. He went to the hospital and in a dedicated room with lights and lenses, Nillson managed to take the foetus' picture as if it was floating in the amniotic sac still.
