CHAPTER TWO━━  a lovely sight

♯ ❝ EXCUSE-MOI" ❞
⋆⋅ ━━━━ ‧ ༻✩༺ ‧ ━━━━ ⋅⋆

A LOT HAD CHANGED SINCE THE FIVE MAGICIANS HAD MET in an old abandoned and rundown apartment building in New York City a year ago. Even though not everything went smoothly and the group had to conquer many obstacles on their way—mostly the bickering amongst themselves. Luckily it was as if they had their own little guardian angel watching them to make sure they succeeded. They became some kind of misfit family rather than just colleagues.

Not that anyone would ever admit such atrocious thing.

They had spent uncountable nights and days, no rest and no vacations crammed together in the same space. To work out all the kinks, and to rope their target into their schemes. To become the good oiled machine that they needed to be for their shows. Working together planning something big, never seen on a stage before. All with blind faith on their side. All for The Eye.

In a couple months The Five Horseman would be famous. They would be remembered. Hopefully.

"Never thought Paris would be such a beautiful place." Wren crossed her legs gazing and looked around the city of love in admiration. A lovely sight, as pedestrians roamed around and the warm sun warmed her cold arms.

"We don't have time for your sightseeing Wren." Daniel's voice hissed through her earpiece as the raven haired man glanced at the general direction of the brunette from his position.

"Sorry, I casually offered any form of my opinion Daniel. I didn't know we had become a censored dictatorship overnight." The woman snapped, her eyes averted from the beautiful view and towards Daniel's general direction.

"We have to do this the right way, Wren, we don't need you messing up the plan." Daniel replied exasperated as he took a deep breath, while he could not see the brunette, he was sure a death glare—one he become very familiar with over the year—was directed in his direction.

"We haven't even started yet. Stop trying to control me Daniel."

"I'm not trying to controlling-"

"Can you both shut up Étienne is coming." Henley interrupted making both Daniel and Wren halt their argument and like there was a switch turned, both magicians turned serious in a matter of seconds.

"Alright you're up Merrit."

Wren could see Merritt walk up the stairs from the corner of her eye. The man muttering something to their target that she vaguely heard the echo through her earpiece 'Las Vegas.' And before the Frenchman knew what happened Merrit disappeared behind a corner.

The brunette followed Daniel's movements carefully as he jogged up the stairs causally while flickering a poker chip in the air and catching it in front of Étienne's face before the raven haired man continued his way up the flight of stairs.

The Frenchman glanced over his shoulder for a moment, following Daniel's retreating figure before focusing back in front of him. Just as Étienne was about to turn the corner, Henley bummed into him, getting his measurements and apologizing in French.

Wren plastered a sweet smile on her face as her part in their plan came to play. Swiftly standing up from the bench with her phone to her ear the brunette began rapidly talking to the non-existent person on the other end.

Wren walked in a straight line, heading to the oblivious man before bumping  into Étienne rather roughly, sending her phone and flyer—of their Las Vegas show-- to the ground. "Excuse-Moi." She apologized, as Étienne kneeled down to hand her phone back with a smile.

"Merci." She gave him another charming smile before rushing on towards the meeting point, ignoring Étienne's shouts for the flyer she had forgotten.

Her grin grew as she passed Jack on her way, the two Horsemen sending a nod to each other before both left in opposite directions.

Now it was up to Jack to get the man's credit card for his signature and they would be set.

And then the second part of their plan began.

"ALRIGHT WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO STICK ME UNDER A PILE OF MONEY WITH THIS LUNATIC?" WEREN WHISPERED IRRITATED from beside Daniel, the brunette staring up with wide eyes as she tried to calm her breathing down. She disliked two things very much:

One: tiny crammed spaced with no place to move.

Two: Daniel Atlas—for obvious reasons.

"You'll be fine." Daniel reassured her with an eyeroll. "Now stop fidgeting, you're making me nervous."

"I hope this will be over soon." She whispered and closed her eyes when the engine roared to life and the truck started to move forward.

They couldn't speak, they couldn't move and Wren was sure she almost couldn't breathe in the small space she was in and she certainly didn't understand why she had to be the one underneath the pile of money.

The brunette turned to face Daniel when she felt him nudge her and she looked at him to see him give her a reassuring nod and Wren gave him a small smile in return. She disliked him a tiny, tiny bit less for that.

Wren felt relief flood through her when she heard the thud of the guard that was watching over the money drop to the ground as Daniel struck him with a needle.

Wren didn't waste any more time and was up in a second pushing the doors above her open with a breath of relief, the money tumbling around them but she didn't care at that moment.

"Never let me do something like this again." She muttered to the raven haired man.

Her grim expression, however was soon replaced by a large smile when she saw all the money around them and realisation set in.

"I've never seen so much money in my life." The brunette grinned in awe.

"Alright let's do this."

They swiftly switched the money and before they knew it they had robbed a bank.

Check that off her non-existent bucket list

By the time they had finished robbing the bank it was already time to get back to America and prepare their show in Las Vegas.

"How is it I always end up with you?" Wren asked Daniel when they got their plane tickets.

He shrugged not really listening to her rambling, but he hid the small smile that threatened to appear as she pleaded with the others.

"Henley please, switch seats with me. " Wren pouted looking up at the red head.

"I don't think so." Henley shook her with a laugh and forced the girl out if her way and pushed her gently towards Jack.

Wren pouted up, before smiling sweetly at Jack.

"No way. I'm not going to switch."

Wren huffed before she sighed and turned back towards Daniel.  "Great another long trip with you." She muttered.

"I don't know why that is such a problem for you. " Daniel replied innocently, a grin forming on his face.

"You know why Danny." She glared at him while he laughed.

"C'mon guys. Please change seats with me." She begged again before she looked over at Merrit who was trailing behind them. "What about you Merritt?"

"I don't think so. I'm perfectly fine where I am." Merritt answered.

"Looks like you're stuck with me." Daniel grinned.
