WREN AND HENLEY WERE IN THEIR DRESSING ROOM, the later looking through the different options for tonight's show while Wren was playing hastily with some cards in her hands, shuffling them a fast and peculiar way
And while the two woman prepared for the show, in the meantime Jack, Daniel and Merrit were already in another room at the theatre, outfits already on and anxiously awaiting until they had to get on stage. Of course Daniel had been already restless from waiting and had went in complete control mode with the crewmembers, demanding that all crewmembers wore a tracking bracelet.
Also part of the plan. Not that anyone would expect anything different from him.
The two girls were chatting as Henley finished her hair, finishing the last strand of her flamboyant red hair until it looked perfect. And even though Wren would deny everything when her friends stated how much she and Daniel resembled each other in antics, the girl despite effort couldn't hide the fact that she too, liked to have control over a situation, but luckily for her team once her mind was occupied, it was easy to control.
Not long after, both Henley and Wren joined the other horsemen in the main room, bright smiles on their faces and a glimmer of mischief in their eyes.
"Just looked at the guest list and guess who is comin' tonight." Jack announced, taking a seat on the couch and grinning at his fellow magicians.
"Well Jack," Wren glanced up at him as the younger boy turned to look at her, "I say we give Rhodes and Dray a show to remember then."
"Not just them." He shook his head, a large grin spreading on his face, a glint of excitement sparking in his brown eyes.
Wren furrowed her eyebrows, sharing confused glances with the others before returning her attention back to the sleight of hand. "Who else?"
"Thaddeus Bradley." The boy revealed, placing his hands behind his head casually.
"Of course he was in Vegas too."
"Mr. Control Freak, what are you thinking about?" Merrit wondered glancing at the raven haired man.
All eyes averted to the mentioned man who stood in the doorframe of his dressing room, arms crossed over his chest as he looked deep in thought.
"We should debunk a few of our simple tricks tonight. Bradley's going to be here tonight, right?" Danny inquired glancing at everyone in the room.
"He is." Wren nodded in confirmation
"We need to do something else."
"What about filming?" Wren suggested suddenly, smile broadening as she thought about how that would throw the magic debunker off.
"We could do that." Daniel nodded along with the other magicians. "Right we need to get the announcer to change the intro for tonight."
"I'll go." Wren offered standing up. "I need to do something, sitting around is making me nervous." The brunette quickly left the room, brown locks bouncing on her shoulders
Wren walked out of the room to talk to tonight's announcer and she found him quickly, telling him the new information they needed for the show. At first the man wasn't all that sure about changing anything but Wren worked her charm on him.
"Thank you." She smiled sweetly at him.
"No problem."
The five horsemen were waiting for the stage manager to come tell them how much time they had left before going up. They all were just sitting around, trying to calm their nerves and to have a moment of peace before hell was about to break loose tonight.
Daniel was testing out a new trick while Wren watched him with the utmost attention, a smile plastered on her face forgetting the nerves for a moment as she watched him while Jack was sitting in a chair, talking with Henley when Merrit appeared next to the redhead
"Do me a favour. Visualize your most adventurous sexual experience. " Merrit's unorthodox question for Henley made the brunette raise a curious eyebrow at the man.
Henley stared at Merrit for a moment, expression completely blank before rolling her eyes. "Stay out of my head, you perv." The redhead laughed, shaking her head before looking at Wren. "Go try with Wren. "
Merrit was swift to turn to Wren "Wren-"
"Don't even think about it." The brunette interrupted him without looking away from Danny's card trick.
"But if I stay out of your heads. I'm never going to get into your pants."
"That's the point." Wren replied simply
"Pardon the intrusion." The horsemen looked up, seeing Thaddeus Bradley in all his glory enter their room. "Just wanted to wish you good luck tonight."
"What, so you can try to expose us later on your little website?" Jack asked, sending an accusing look towards the dark skinned man.
"And OnDemand." He smiled, eyes darting between all of the horsemen.
"That is not going to happen." Henley huffed, crossing her arms over her chest
"Not even in your wildest dreams." Wren added, staring the tall man down
"Oh, no? Operating on the special plane because of The Eye? " Thaddeus wondered, a hint of a smile on his face as the horsemen glanced at each other surprised. "I heard it's a lovely place. lots of sunshine and moonbeams. Make any magician's wish come true."
Nobody responded, all the caught up in the fact that Thaddeus knew about The Eye. "You've come a long way, much further than anyone would have expected for a bunch of wanna-bees and has-beens."
"If by has-been you're referring to me, I just want to say I'm flattered, because I always considered myself as a never-was." Merrit countered quickly, before a smirk appeared on his face. "Do you mind if I do a quick reading on you?" Merrit asked as he stood up with his suit jacket.
"By all means." The dark skinned man waved his arms, eyes wary and calculating as he focused on the man.
"uh, okay... I'm picturing a little boy. He wants to be a great magician someday. And though he's good, he's not quite good enough. so he ends up at the bottom of the entertainment food chain, feeding of those who have the talent he never did. Tell me, am I getting close?" Merrit asked sarcastically as he put his jacket on for the show.
Thaddeus didn't response to Merrit, making Daniel jump in. "Wait before you go- I'm working on something new. Do you have a second?" Danny asked, holding a deck of cards out for the man.
Thaddeus turned his attention to Daniel as the other horsemen stood up from their seats. Henley grabbed the white rabbit for the openings act, stroling its soft fur.
"Okay, name a card."
"King of hearts."
"Knew it!" Merrit exclaimed as Wren nudged him with a small smirk playing on her lips.
"We all saw that coming." She muttered.
Danny snapped his fingers, trying to get the deck of cards to move the very first card, but to no avail as nothing happened. He then tried to pull the top card put it wouldn't budge. He even blew a bit but nothing made the card budge.
"It's up your left sleeve." Thaddeus suddenly spoke up, eyes trained on Daniel's left sleeve
"Is it?" Daniel asked, moving his sleeve, both Henley and Wren looked down.
"I don't see anything." Wren smiled as Jack and Merrit leaned down.
"No, no. there is nothing up there." The others shook their head at Thaddeus confirming their statement.
"You know why don't you check that unnecessary velveteen pocket there." Daniel pointed to the man's pocket a victorious smile on his face.
Thaddeus slowly reached into his pocket, pulling a blank card out that said: SUCK IT. In bold black letters and Wren watched his face twitch in annoyance.
"Anyway, thank you so much for coming by, but this is kind of a talented only area, so..." Daniel trailed off.
"Break a leg." Bradley spoke before turning on his heel to leave the room.
"Hey you break something too." Merrit shouted after the debunker.
"Don't forget to enjoy the show!" Wren called out excited a small smirk on her lips.
