♯ ❝YOU CHEEKY BASTARD❞
⋆⋅ ━━━━ ‧ ༻✩༺ ‧ ━━━━ ⋅⋆
ONCE UPON A TIME FIVE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT people met in a rundown building in New York City. Sharing only a dream
They reached Central Park fairly quickly, but it was already two in the morning, and it was their luck that the gate was locked.
Wren wondered if they would meet their benefactor this night. She really wanted to know who was behind all this. Who was behind the curtain.
Once upon a time, a group of people worked together to create something bigger than themselves. To show the world that magic was more than a silly past time. It was hope, faith, happiness.
Henley walked up to the lock, tugging at the chain in disbelief.. "It's locked."
"Weren't you listening? Nothing is ever locked." Wren smiled, seeing Jack approaching them from the other side of the fence.
"Ah!"
Henley and Wren clapped for Jack, proud smiles on their faces.
"Well done, Mr. Wilder." Henley complimented the brunette, patting jack on the shoulder.
Jack just smiled at his friends, a chuckle escaping his parted lips as he shook his head
Once upon a time, strangers became friends, a family even. Not by blood but by love and respect. All in the name of magic.
"You're a big boy now." Daniel jested from beside Wren.
Jack unlocked the gate and pulled the chain away when everyone stopped talking.
The Five Horsemen walked into Central Park. Now the just needed to find where they were looking for. Even if they didn't really know what to look for.
Wren held a small flashlight out, to look around same for Henley and Daniel.
"What if all this was just leading up to us getting mugged in Central Park at two in the morning?" Merrit asked humourlessly, but there was some hidden anxiety beneath his demeanour. For all they knew this was just a big set up.
Wren grinned. "Well if it is, you have to give them some credit."
"No, I'm telling you, we're right where we need to be. We just have to find-" Daniel started as he faced the group.
Henley interrupted him. "That?" She shined her flashlight at the card placed in glass.
"The Lionel Shrike tree. And the card encased in glass." He breathed out
"What do we do now?"
Wren hesitated before taking out her Tarot card from her back pocket of her skinny jeans. She held it out and the other horsemen followed her actions.
The cards one by one attached themselves to the card in Wren's hand. Wren glanced at her friends in disbelief before waving the now see-through card in front of the card encased in glass.
The card began to shine and everyone gasped suddenly, music from the carousel began to play in the distance and the lights flickered on.
The horsemen walked towards the carousel, wondering what was happening. Wren took Daniels's hand as they all slowly approached the lights, unsure of what to expect.
Wren gasped, with everyone else, the sound echoing through Central Park.
The person standing on the stairs of the carousel was none other than Agent Dylan Rhodes. The man who was trying to arrest them.
Once upon a time, the tricksters got tricked. Played at their own game. But everything fell into place, like the last piece of the puzzle.
"You cheeky bastard." Wren breathed out in disbelief, eyes wide and filled with confusion.
No one knew what to say, hell they didn't even know what to think about everything that was unfolding right in front of them, none of them would have ever suspected Rhodes to be their mysterious benefactor.
"Oh my God! I didn't see that coming. That's impossible." Merrit shook his head, clearly not able to wrap his head around the fact that Dylan was not who he seemed to be.
"No way."
"That was actually, uh, pretty good."
"Thank you."
"When I said, 'always be the smartest guy in the room..." Daniel trailed of, a bit awkwardly as he tried to find the right words.
"We were on an agreement." Dylan shrugged, a smug look on his face.
"Okay, right."
"Henley, Wren." Dylan greeted the two girl.
Both Henley and Wren weren't able to come up with any words. The two continued to stare at the man in utter disbelief.
Wren opened her mouth a couple of times but nothing came out before she opted to just close her mouth and say nothing at all.
"I've never heard them so quiet." Daniel stated, quite surprised by how the girls were acting.
"I take that as a huge compliment." He shook their hands.
"Hey, man, I'm sorry for kicking your ass. Really." Jack awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck as Dylan chuckled.
"Hey, listen for the record, I have always been a 100% believer. And the amount of energy I have expended to keep the infidels on point..." Merrit tried to explain, Henley laughed and smacked the man's arm.
"Merrit, you're in."
"God bless."
Once upon a time, a group of extraordinary people achieved something great. They would be remembered, maybe not by all, but by those who they had inspired.
"Come. The real magic is taking five strong solo acts and making them all work together. And that is exactly what you did." Dylan moved across the barrier. "So Welcome, welcome to The Eye." Dylan grabbed on a bar, lifting himself up onto the moving horses.
Henley gasped and Jack and Merrit jumped over the barrier.
Wren, Henley and Daniel moved around it, taking their time to to savor every second of this moment.
Dylan waited for the Five Horsemen. He moved away from them, disappearing out of sight. The five horsemen exchanged looks.
Jack was the first to jump on the moving carousel followed by Henley and Merrit. Daniel took Wren's hand and they too jumped onto the carousel.
The horsemen held on tight, disappearing on the other side to where Dylan was.
They made it. Now they had to wait for their next show.
They didn't know when but they did know it was coming.
Onceupon a time, the five horseman realised the world was just an illusion waitingto be uncovered. Because behind the curtain was a whole world full of wonderand magic.
