<7> The Wisdom Of A Queen.
Chapter 7, The Wisdom Of A Queen.
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano
Reyna sat on her bed and put her head in her hands, this boy was killing her. He annoyed ever inch, every fiber of her being yet she never wanted to be separated from him. Maybe that's why she was so annoyed by him.. Because she needed him....
No, Reyna told herself. You don't need him, you don't need anybody. You are strong enough.
With that thought Reyna went to bed hoping the next day was better.
~~
Reyna was very unhappy at breakfast, no the food was just fine... But her sleep? It was certainly not just fine.
Reyna groaned, his gorgeous face even plagued her dreams taunting her with something she could never have. Reyna rubbed her temples trying to ease the ache in the sides of her head. She closed her eyes and concentrated on her duties for the day.
"Hey, you ok?"
Reyna looked up to see Frank a concerned look on his now masculine face. Reyna let the side of per lip twitch into a slight smile feeling cared for by her fellow praetor.
"I'm fine, thank you Frank." Reyna said covering up her inner battles with a calm voice filled with the essence of power and control. Frank nodded and sat next to her leaving Hazel with her half-brother.
Reyna scowled, she thought he'd be gone by now. He was disrupting the camps peace, he needed to leave. Before Reyna did anything she caught herself. He wasn't disrupting the camp, he was disrupting her. so she couldn't make him leave for her own problems.
Reyna then resorted to her usual stance and sat there with a blank face slowly eating her food trying to think about the music she had listened to earlier. Or which Marvel/DC movie she wanted to see next. Reyna was kind of curious about Black Widow. She wanted a movie about her.
After breakfast it was either helping with training or waiting to see if a new half-blood would arrive. Frank wanted to help train and maybe see Hazel so that left Reyna waiting for new arrivals. Who knows, the gods were always busy finding some mortal to take advantage of.
Reyna sighed in boredom sitting in her seat waiting for something exciting to happen or something to do. She wondered what Barry was doing right then. was he worrying about what he'd wear when they went to the park.
Reyna thought about the night before, Nico telling her Barry was interested in her in a romantic way. Reyna had seen the signs of him crushing on her. But Reyna never thought it possible that someone would desire to take a shot at loving her. she was so cold and quiet. No one knew what she thought, no one knew her dirty secrets. Reyna was closed off, a shut book. But only when she chose to be. Often in battle Reyna would let the wild side of her go and use it to her advantage adding power to her strikes and blows ensuring her victory over the enemy.
But that hadn't worked with Nico.. Had she even let herself go around him in battle? Yes, she did. But only when she was fighting beside him. Not against him.
Reyna never considered Nico a threat or an enemy. He was a friend, nothing even close to a rival in her eyes. Nico... He was something different than a friend though. He was much different. Reyna had no idea what that was but she wasn't sure she wanted to find out.
"Reyna!"
Reyna's head snapped up from starring at the floor her dogs doing the same to see the door had flown open revealing a messenger.
"Yes?" she questioned not rising from her seat.
"There's a fight and no one's been able to separate the two!" He exclaimed panting and Reyna looked down before nodding.
"I will go settle the issue," she stood and the boy nodded as she gathered her cape to start walking down the steps in her imperial gold tipped boots. "and don't tell them I'm coming." she ordered before he left the building.
Reyna sighed putting her hand on her sword and walking out the door to meet whatever she was going to face.
Reyna walked up to the scene to see two boys growling and punching at each other as a girl stood on the sidelines crying dramatically. Reyna tensed, she hoped this wasn't something stupid.
"Reyna is here!" One demigod exclaimed but the boys never stopped bunching and trying to harm the other.
Reyna groaned and grabbed the back of the one's shirt and pulling him away before kicking the other one's chest in the opposite direction leaving them both on their bums in the dirt. They were starting to get back up but Reyna unsheathed her imperial gold sword and held it in between the two the sunlight glinting off the sharp blade. The boys decided to stay in their places on the ground and the girl stopped crying.
"Ok boys, what it this about?" Reyna put the tip of her sword in the ground and leaned on it seeing the boys were willing to yield to her authority.
One gulped and spoke up pointing an accusing finger at the other. " He wants to take Shayla from me!" He exclaimed and the other boy growled lightly. "You stole her from me first!" He yelled in anger as he panted.
Reyna rolled her eyes, typical.
"I want her more than you!"
"Not true! I loved her first!"
"She's mine!"
"No, she's mine!"
The girl who Reyna assumed was Shayla began to break out crying again, Reyna was so done with relationship drama.
''QUIET!" Reyna exclaimed and the boys stopped yelling at each other and looked at Reyna who was taking a deep breath running over her thoughts.
"If you both love her so much, the same amount let's settle this like adults." the men were eager to see how Reyna would fix the problem.
"I shall cut her in half and you both shall have her."
The boys eyes both widened as Reyna lifted up her sword and started walking towards Shayla who was now trembling in fear.
One boy jumped up and ran in between Reyna and the girl, "H-he can have her! Just don't touch her!" He exclaimed fear and sadness filling his eyes.
Reyna looked at him for a moment studying his expression before looking back to see the other demigod still sitting and looking surprised. Reyna sighed and looked at the boy standing in front of her before nodding.
"Shayla-," Reyna sheathed her sword "- come her please." Reyna beckoned her forward with hand motions. Shayla hesitantly made her way over to the boy and Reyna.
Reyna then grabbed the boy's shoulders in front of her. "She will be yours, since you truly love her. Unlike the other man who did nothing to save her life so here." she put Shayla's hand in his own. "She's yours."
Then Reyna turned and walked away leaving the people who had seen the scene in awe.
~~
Reyna slipped on a pair of jeans which she never wore because they weren't really her style. Then she put on a long sleeves grey shirt that hugged her body nicely just like her jeans. That's pat of the reason she didn't like jeans but preferred armor. It hid her body from onlookers.
But tonight she was kind of going out on a date.. Reyna had accepted it so she was dressing like she was going out on a date.. Well, not really...
Reyna left her hair in it's braid before putting on her black boots. Reyna sighed, she was ready.
Reyna walked out the door before meeting Barry at the place they had scheduled. They were meeting at the parks entrance.
Reyna walked up to see Barry fidgeting nervously making her lightly smile. Then he turned and saw her.
"Reyna!" He exclaimed and she waved to him as he walked over to her. "How was your day?" He asked as they walked into the park together. "It was...." Reyna looked down, she felt like she was being watched. "..Fine, it was just fine...." Reyna finished and Barry nodded before they walked down Reyna feeling vulnerable without her weapons and armor.
They were talking as they walked, well Barry talked most of the time because Reyna insisted on it. Reyna didn't really like telling others a lot about herself.
Soon when it was dark they went and sat by the lake to gaze at the stars together as they sat in silence. It was beautiful outside, especially at night in the dark.
Reyna felt so blessed being bale to gaze at the beauty of the darkness of the night. It had always intrigued her and plagued her mind with curiosity of the night. What was hiding in the dark? What was lying in wait to destroy whatever crossed its path.
Reyna let her lips twitch into a small smile.
"Thanks Barry, this had been fun." Reyna said hugging her knees to her chest.
"Really?" He asked and she nodded making him sigh. "I've been having fun also. I don't really like the dark though."He said and Reyna slowly nodded the smile leaving her face.
The bushes ruffled behind them and she sighed, "Yeah, sometimes it's scary..." Reyna paused and Barry nodded before she finished. ".. How curious I am about the darkness."
The words left her tongue and suddenly shivers went down her spine. She looked at the lake again and gazed at the reflection of the bright moon and stars. Reyna sighed in content.
