19 ~ Priviledge

I walked through my first restaurant to overlook business. After visiting my four other restaurants I was tired, but if I left this restaurant alone I'd have to come over all the way from home tomorrow. The lighting was a little too dark for my preferences, so I took a mental note to talk to the head manager about that.

Privileged, my restaurants' name, was doing really well. They were all five star restaurants and we offered the best quality no matter which class you were. My philosophy was that good food should be given out to everyone not only first and second class. If you had money then come on in, I didn't give a shit like other establishments did.

"Good evening Mr. Jeon, did you come in for the monthly check sir?" a waitress greeted me.

"Yes Ms. Lin. How is business?" I asked.

"It's really busy, but we are managing really well. No complaints. No worries," she said brightly.

"We'll see about today," I said offering a small smile back.

I walked into the back and grabbed a uniform on my way to the washroom. They were polished and cleaned every 30 minutes or so, because I hated messy and disorganized washrooms. I looked into the mirror before heading out.

I summoned each staff member in the kitchen for "the" talk I had every month for all of my restaurants.

"Annyeong. Good evening everyone. I'm proud of each and everyone of you. I expect the best because you were all hand selected for a reason, and that is because you're all on a higher level. There is a difference between us and all the other restaurants underneath us, and that is we serve with passion. If you think you lack that, I'd rather you quit than present to me something that is not worth my time or our customers time. I hope that you'll exceed my expectations today," I concluded.

Everyone cheered for me and I smiled at my enthusiastic group.

"Get back to work," I said.

I walked around the restaurant greeting familiar faces and new people. There were no complaints which pleased me. I concluded that service was good, but it was just slightly too slow at the front. More tables could easily be placed at the back, or I could try fixing the format of the place to fit in more tables. Hmmm. What should I do?

Returning to the kitchen with that thought I saw on of the cooks wipe her house and touch the vegetables without washing her hands.

"You. We need to talk," I sternly said.

She approached me hesitantly.

"Did you just wipe your nose and touch the board again?!" I pressed on.

Her eyes widened and she looked down.

"Your fired. Get out. Don't return until you learn how to properly behave in the kitchen," I said leaving her alone.

She stood there frozen to the ground until she realized what was going on.

"Please Mr. Jeon give me another chance," she said quietly.

"I never give out second chances and you know that," I replied.

She finally walked away without the uniform. I walked to my favorite chef in the house. He was more like a hyung to me. He always took good care of me and noticed all the things that no one else saw in me.

"Seokjin hyung? Busy?" I asked.

"Not too busy," he replied.

"Need any help?" I asked.

He smiled in return.

"I think I'm good. Thanks for asking Mr. Jeon," he teased.

"How many times do I have to demand you to call me Jungkook," I said smiling at him.

I walked away from Jin to examine other chefs and ended up joining them to cook. Cooking was my passion and I loved business. I'm so thankful for being able to pursue my passion instead of something else.

Closing time came soon and I took of my uniform. After most staff trickled out the door I sat down with Min Yoongi, the general manager; Kim Seokjin, the executive chef; and, Jeon Jiwoo, the public relations manager.

"Everything is going smoothly. Seokjin some chefs have been fired because of their lack of kitchen protocol. Simple things as washing their goddamn hands. As the professional I expect you to take more control over that," I said.

"I agree. Sometimes they wouldn't listen to me or forget my instructions. You fired five chefs today, so I expect new chefs to be appointed soon," he said.

I took that note in my notepad.

"I also noticed that business at the front went slow. I propose a new format for the tables," I said.

"Yes. I've been thinking about that as well, and I have some new designs I want you to look at," Yoongi hyung said.

"Alright, I want the new format placed by tomorrow morning. I''ll come in again and overlook the changes. I think we're done here unless you want to discuss anything?" I asked.

"Nope I think everything is going smoothly. Everyone is responding very well, but I propose an addition of a bar. Not only would we get more customers at night, but it would seem much more refined with a bar within our restaurant," Jiwoo said.

Hmm. It would be beneficial.

"Ok. Do you have any businesses in mind?" I asked.

"A new business started recently and it's rising fast. L'arc french theme from Paris. It'll be cool if we could snag a deal with them," she said her eyes sparkling.

"Let's do it," I agreed.

"I'll give you all the details when you come in tomorrow," Jiwoo replied.

I parked my Porsche in the driveway and let myself in quietly. I passed the foyer that contained pictures of my graduation, photos of my family, and lots of shoes. When I walked in the living room there was no sign of my baby.

"Babe?" I called out.

"Yes!?" a small yell came from the kitchen.
