Chapter 3- Akki

I walked down the street of a beautiful country. One that gave me life, and took it away. It was sunny, and the market was full. The sweet aroma of Italian spices filled the air. I caught the smell of some Patrol Officers down the street, doing a routine demon sweep. I snapped an ember into the house to my left and within minutes the house fire took the Patrol Officer's attention away from their sweep. Two cars drove by.

As I walked down a different street I caught a particularly odd smell following me ever since the house fire. I walked down a side alley, isolating myself. I stopped at the end of the alley and waited a moment. Just as I thought, there was another demon. I allowed him to follow me for a few more streets until I took a sudden turn into a construction area. Night was falling and no one was around. The demon was only a few steps behind me, revealing his demon form as he approached. He was a two eyed edge demon.

"What are you doing in my territory?" The metal demon said as he approached ignorantly.

"It is pointless to kill each other considering the limited number of our species. What do you wish to gain from this interaction?" I questioned, attempting to solve the conflict diplomatically without transforming.

"I don't want you in my territory. I don't want to compete for food and I definitely don't want you making the Patrol Officers curious by setting fires."

"I was only passing through. I do not wish to stay in this town for more than a couple of days."

"You will leave now, or I will kill you."

"Is there no way to persuade you into rational thinking?" The demon said nothing, but held his ground. I let out a sigh, "If that is your decision, I am apologize for what must happen next." I transformed and the demon let out a breath of dismay. The demon had just now realized what he had gotten himself into, and that there was no changing his mind now.

He lunged at me, attempting a vital strike immediately. He probably assumed that if he could kill me quickly he would have a chance at winning. However my speed was far greater than his. I effortlessly dodged his blade arm and retaliated with a focused punch to his back. The punch sent him into one of the large sleeping machines. The demon climbed out of the scrap metal and began rethinking his plan, I would not give him enough time. Within a fraction of a second, I was in his face, overwhelming him with the heat of my punches. He tried to cut me, but with every attack he made, I partied with five more. It was not long until I started inflicting physical damage to his metal body.

He reeled back, then buried his body into one of my punches unexpectedly, giving his an opening to strike. He hesitated for just a fraction of a second, and I was able to block with my arm. Just as I caught the blade in my arm, I grabbed his face, burning my thumbs into his skull. He began screaming with pain, trying to pull away, but with his arm stabbed into mine, he was stuck. I took one of my spare hands, and with one quick, surgical movement, I drove my hand into his chest, and pulled his heart out.

I quickly distanced myself from him. Allowing his to writhe for a moment before collapsing to the ground, lifeless. Two cars drove by.

I tossed his heart on the ground and made my way to a hotel. As I walked down the now empty streets I could still smell that peculiarly odd smell. Turns out that wasn't the demon who I thought was following me.
