Chapter 1- Akki
The air was cold and wet, as were the bloody stones the drunk girl laid lifeless on. Directly before me stood her friend, a shy girl with glasses who probably has never gone out drinking before. The smell of fear pounded in my nose as our eyes tore into each other. I watched the silver fog leave her lips as she breathed slow and heavy, petrified by the sudden turn of events. In the dim light of the alley way I looked at her taped glasses and modest outfit and breathed a sigh. "Go, live your life, help the world. But never forget my kindness to you." I turned away from her, disengaging. I heard the clicking of her shoes across the stone as she ran, unable to even scream.
I rolled the girl onto her chest and began to tear her open along her spine. Her skin was warm as I dug my hands into her, and her blood flowed with a delicious sent as I tore her open. I always ate from the back because I never liked looking at the human's faces as I ate them. I did not want to believe I was the monster they condemned me as. I bit into her liver as the taste of alcohol filled my mouth. Two cars drove by. I reached around her spine and in between her lungs to pull out her heart. I needed to eat but I was not hungry. The heart always tasted the best, hers was sweet with oxygen as I breathed it in.
I stood as a cool midnight breeze slithered through the alley. I breathed in the air and felt it sting my lungs. As I walked out of the alley I cleaned my face with my red handkerchief. The girl's eyes, hidden behind her broken glasses, filled my mind. I never preyed on the healthy or plentiful. I did not want to believe I was the monster they condemned me as. I walked through the restless night, along the empty streets, on my way to my temporary home. In the morning, I shall return, to where it had all began, Italy.
