   Hongjoong's pov

Once I got Yeri in her car seat behind mine, I began driving us to mom's house. From the back seat, Yeri had a few questions.

"Dada, where we going?" Yeri asked, looking out of her window in wonder.

"We're going to grandma's house, Yer-bear. She's very excited to meet you," I said, smiling back at her.

"Grandma?" She asked.

"She's my mom, so that makes her your grandma," I answered.

It was incredibly cute the way she played with her toys in the backseat. I smiled as I drove us the half an hour trip to my mom's house.

When we arrived, I got Yeri out of her car seat and let her walk up the stone pathway. I knocked on the door, then picked Yeri up.

"Hongjoong! What a surprise; I was about to go shopping, but- Joong, when did you start babysitting?" Mom asked.

"That's partially true. Can we come in?"

  "Sure."

"So, you remember my accident with being shot?" I began. Mom nodded her head.

"Well, before that, I was-and still am- in love with Mingi, a mafia leader. He and I were even engaged and Yeri was on the way. When I ended up in a bad area, I was shot, as you remember. That accident took away most of my memories of that part of my life.

I remembered more about Mingi after we met again, sand he informed me about Yeri. Yeri lived with two of Mingi's members, until I was told she is mine.

Your other son is gullible. Mingi left Yeri with Seonghwa for the last month- well, he didn't leave her, but he made me believe she truly had been kidnapped.

I am pissed as hell, momma. I thought-"

"Hell?" Yeri interjects, looking up at me and repeating the word.

"That's not a nice word, yer-bear, so don't say it, okay?" I said. Yeri nodded and began to play again.

"I thought she was scared, hurt, or even worse, dead, however, my boyfriend made Seonghwa keep her for the past month under the premise that Mingi and I were on a honeymoon.

I don't know who else I can trust, momma. I- they've all ruined the trust I was building up." Tears had began streaming down my cheeks, some even landing in Yeri's curly hair.

"My son, you will always have me to turn to. Seonghwa, however, will receive some "feedback" on asking questions." The woman said, her eyes fiery with anger.

"Grandma?" Yeri asked, pointing at mom.

"Oh, bless her heart. She's adorable, Hongjoong. Can I?" She reached for Yeri, who was ecstatic.

"Is there anything we can do for you besides house and feed you both?" Mom asked.

"I don't know- I just- I don't want to see anyone from that insane plan."

"We have a couple vacation homes; you could pick one and stay there with just Yeri for as long as you need. Seonghwa doesn't know about the cabin in Tennessee; would that be suitable?"

"Yes, thank you," I said, leaning closer to put my head on her shoulder.

I let my tears run as they may; I didn't care how I looked.

Yeri reached up and tried to dry my tears.

"Daddy, are you sad?" She asked, her little hands rushing to wipe the tears.

"No, not at all, Yeri. I have you, so how could I ever be sad, hm?" I said, smiling softly at the toddler.

  "When can we go?"

Three months had passed. I bought a new phone and only put my parents' numbers in the contacts. I took thousands of cute pictures of my daughter and I.

Once Yeri and I made it to Tennessee, I smashed my old phone so I couldn't be bothered.

It was relaxing to be able to just breathe freely, but Yeri was getting upset that she couldn't see Mingi.

When we returned to Seoul, we immediately went back to mom's house. Walking into the house, I saw Mingi talking with dad.

The pair went suspiciously quiet upon my arrival. Yeri wiggled her way out of my arms to rush to Mingi.

The man was crying as he held Yeri for the first time in months. Mingi looked up at me, and I shook my head.

"We may be back, but Yeri and I will be living elsewhere. Now I know I can't trust any of you, even though you all swear you care for us. Mom, can you take Yeri for a little bit?"

  "Baby-"

"Get that shit out of your head. I'm home, but like I said, Yeri and I will not be around the gang drama. Do you know what I'd have done to you had I not left?"

Mingi shook his head, looking depressed.

"I sure as hell would've gotten back at you way worse than three months of silence. If you can't believe me- if you can't even care for my health, why would you do that for our daughter?"

Mingi stayed silent, choosing to look down at the carpet.

"Fucking answer me you piece of shit! Yeri is gonna be scarred- I'm gonna be jumpy and anxious about her for years, mingi. It's like we're strangers now instead of lovers, and honestly I'm okay with that. I'm okay with never knowing you again.

Seonghwa wasn't fully in the loop, so I guess I can trust him. If you dare to come around us again, I will shoot you down. Am I clear?"

Mingi was destroyed; tears drenching his face and neck, his eye red and puffy. He did not look good, and somehow that made me feel amazing.

"Get out." I demanded, tugging the more frail than before man off of the couch and shoving him out of the front door.

"Joong, come here," Seonghwa spoke softly, coming to embrace me.

"I never should have asked, Hwa." I cried harder on his shoulder. Seonghwa's arms wrapped around me, protecting me from more troubles.
