Hongjoong's pov
"I'm still confused, Mingi," I spoke to him, a week later after we saw Yeri at Yeosang's house.
"Hm?" He asked, pausing the movie and looking at me.
"If you're in a mafia, then why are you watching Disney movies with me? What did I do to make you not be like those gangsters on tv?" I asked. Mingi smiled softly.
"Do you remember how I told you that you called me a devil, and that's why I call you Angel?" Mingi asked, causing me to nod.
"There was more that happened after that. You," Mingi looked down at his lap and smiled softly, "you swore to me that if I hurt you or anyone you loved, then you'd become Lucifer; still an Angel, but one not afraid to do wrong for the right reasons.
I hadn't thought someone not in a mafia could aim a gun at me and swear to change, but there you were, handsome as hell and bringing it with you."
"You sound like you really adore me," I said, looking at the man who spoke. Mingi's cheeks flushed, but he nodded.
"I could tell you all the stories of us you want to hear, Angel. I promise not to hide anything from you any longer," Mingi promised, lifting my hand to his lips and kissing my knuckles softly.
"How did you know I was the one?" I asked softly. Mingi had a grin on his lips as he chuckled.
"You started stealing my shirts and acting like this was your home. I came downstairs one morning to see you in my old button up making breakfast and drinking coffee you had made. You walked around the kitchen like you owned it; it made me realize not only did I love you, but that I couldn't lose you nor just give you up.
I may have been "out" of your life, but Yeosang, San, and Wooyoung are all members of my gang, so they kept tabs on you.. I'm sorry, that sounded awful- I promise I was just trying to make sure you were safe, but it seems like even then we couldn't," Mingi spoke sweetly at first, but then sounded a bit panicky towards the end.
"It did sound awful, but I understand it. You wanted to make sure I was okay." I smiled softly and reached to hold his hand in mine. Mingi gently laced our fingers together and caressed the top of my hand with his thumb.
"As much as I don't like that you two were together for a bit, have you talked to Seonghwa since you came here? He's still your best friend isn't he?" Mingi questioned.
"Yeah, he is, but I'm scared he might hate me now. I did break up with him and immediately come running to you," I mumbled, "I feel like a whore."
"What? Why do you feel like a whore?" Mingi asked.
"I leave one guy to come to another." I covered my face with my hands and rubbed my eyes.
"I think in your case you can't be seen as a whore. You learned you had a lover and a child from before your amnesia hit; why wouldn't you- or anyone- come running?" Mingi said.
"You're right, but that still didn't give me the right to break up with him the way I did. I just said I was, packed my bags, and left with you. If I feel bad, then he must feel awful," I said, looking down at my crossed hands.
"Then check in on him; talk to him, Joong."
"You won't be upset?"
"No, Angel, I won't. I trust you," Mingi said. I smiled and leaned over enough to kiss his cheek.
"Thank you, Min," I said. Mingi smiled softly and kissed my forehead.
"Always, my love."
I pulled my phone out of my pocket, scrolling until I found Seonghwa's contact. I looked up at Mingi, who nodded, then FaceTimed my best friend.
"Hongjoong? Are you alright?" Seonghwa asked once we connected.
"Yeah I am; I was calling to check in on you since we haven't talked in a while." I said, chewing on my bottom lip anxiously.
"I'm alright; I knew once I told you about Mingi that you'd break up with me, so I did it anyway. You deserve to be with your future husband; the father of your child. I'm sorry I stepped in, Mingi," Seonghwa apologized, somehow knowing Mingi was beside me.
"It's understandable, Seonghwa, but please don't repeat it," Mingi said. Seonghwa nodded with a weak smile.
"I won't," Seonghwa replied.
"I'm sorry I ran out on you like that, Hwa. It was mean of me, and I didn't think of how it might affect you. I'm sorry," I apologized.
"Its okay, Joong. I understand... I miss you though. Are you coming back anytime soon?" Seonghwa questioned.
"I have no clue, honestly. I'll have to for my clothes and stuff, that is if Mingi lets me stay with him?" I asked, looking up at my... I couldn't call him my boyfriend yet, as he hadn't asked me out, but we were dating before and hadn't broken up. What were we?
"Yeah, you're always welcome where I am," Mingi claimed, a soft smile on his lips. I smiled and nodded.
"Then I'll be over in a few days for my stuff. I'll get out of your hair and you'll be able to find someone who's a better fit for you," I said. I glanced up at Mingi quickly, thinking about Yeosang.
"Is Yeosang actually dating wooyoung and San?" I asked. Mingi shook his head.
"Hwa, the cute cafe owner Yeosang is single. You've told me a couple times you think he's cute," I said.
"Hongjoong! Don't start," Seonghwa whined. I grinned and laughed a little.
"He's really sweet, have you met him?" I asked. Seonghwa nodded and covered his face.
"Then see where that goes, Hwa."
"Why? It's not like he'd like me," Seonghwa pouts.
"Well, you won't know until you try," I said. Seonghwa nods.
"Fine, but if I get my heart broke by a gang member, then I'm swearing off dating and buying cats," he said. I laughed softly.
"I'm sure it'll work out fine, Hwa."
