TWELVE
I yawned when I saw the time on my wall clock.
It's quarter past eight. And, I'm still stuck in our office.
I had to review the proposal for business partnership of one of our potential investors before I will present it to Mr. Park.
Yes. He will temporarily took over since we haven't found anyone who will fit for Mr. Lim's position.
I yawned again and blinked my eyes. My vision is getting blurry as I felt sleepy all of a sudden.
I was torn between taking a nap and resuming my work after and continue working so that I can go home the soonest.
I chose the latter. I saw my coffee mug resting on the coffee table across mine and decided to stand up to stretch my legs and arms.
With only my lights on inside our office, I carefully lifted my clean mug and carried it outside to the executives' pantry.
Our offices, rather, the bosses' offices are located at the fourth floor of the resort.
Being the only middle employee working at this hour, I casually walked my way to the pantry completely aware that no one is here on the floor with me.
I was about to push open the door when someone tall and lanky bumped into my shoulders which led me to stumble into the couch.
I closed my eyes in embarrassment and was waiting to fall into the couch when strong arms caught me just in time.
My eyes flew open and saw an unexpected person at this time of the night.
"Miss Antonio." Mr. Park said and smiled. "Sorry. I didn't know you're still here. I thought ako lang mag-isa na nandirito ngayon."
"Good evening po, Mr. Park." I said and took a deep breath to calm myself. "May tinatapos lang po ako pero pauwi na din mamaya."
Mr. Park nodded and stepped back. He gestured me to walk freely to the coffeemaker and comfortably sat on the couch.
"Hatid na kita. I was about to go home na din." Mr. Park said and I stared at him speechless.
I raised an eyebrow inquisitively hoping to get an answer.
"Don't take this the wrong way. I already have someone I laid my
eyes on." Mr. Park chuckled and turned to the sink to wash his mug. "Gabi na at baka mapano ka pa sa daan. I'll give you fifteen minutes and I'll wait for you outside your office." He said and went out the pantry.
I quickly finished my coffee and washed it immediately. As soon as I closed the door, I hurried to our office and save everything on my computer before turning everything off.
Making sure that I have everything with me, I locked the door and saw Mr. Park going out his office as well.
"Ang bilis ah." Mr. Park commented and grinned. His hand on his suitcase, he let me follow him while we went to the elevator.
It took us only five minutes to reach the basement's parking lot. He led me to where his blue mercedes benz was and opened the car door for me.
I smiled my thanks and went in the passenger seat.
"Sino ang kasama mo sa bahay, Miss Antonio?" tanong ni Mr. Park habang nasa byahe kame pauwi.
I stilled at his question. I was struggling to tell the truth or not.
Isang kasambahay po atsaka ang driver namen. Pati mga pamangkin ko." I closed my eyes for awhile quietly apologizing for my kids for denying them. I couldn't trust anyone my secret.
They will probably fire me from my job which I badly needed to sustain their needs.
"I see. Halos magkapitbahay pala tayo. Sa kabilang village lang ako." Mr. Park said and turned the car to my Subdivision.
"Nako, Sir. Ayos na po ako dito. Hindi nyo na po kailangang pumasok pa sa loob. Malapit na lang po ako dito sa gate." I immediately said when he opened the window to talk to the guard for my location.
The guard wave at me when they recognize my face.
"Magandang gabi po, Ma'am Olivia." Manong Romel greeted me and nodded to Mr. Park before he opened the gate.
"Good evening din po, Manong. Salamat po." I smiled and waved back when he let us passed.
I turned to face Mr. Park beside me and told him to stop outside our black and blue gate located at the corner of Chrysanthemum and Cattleya Street.
"You have a nice house." Mr. Park said and gazed up at our house.
I smiled and stopped in front of his car door.
"Salamat po sa paghatid, Sir. Gusto nyo po bang pumasok sa loob?" I asked politely.
"Nope. Oks na ko. I'm good. Goodnight, Miss Antonio." Mr. Park said and smiled.
"Mag-ingat po kayo sa pagdrive. Salamat po uli and goodnight po." I nodded and watched him until he was out of sight.
I went inside our house and made sure to lock our gate before walking my way towards our house.
I quietly opened our main door and was welcomed with the homey atmosphere.
I noticed a neatly folded paper on top of our table in front of our television and grabbed it before walking upstairs to our bedrooms.
I checked the twins' room first and made sure they are safe and sound asleep.
I silently closed their door after I kissed their cheeks and went to my own room.
I threw my bag on the chair as well as the note and pulled out my shoes before lying down the comfy bed.
I groaned when I felt the exhaustion finally sinking in.
I glanced at the wall clock while still on my bed and noticed it was almost ten.
My mind was again torn between brushing up and changing to my indoor clothes or just let my laziness reign over me.
The laziness won. And before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
