NINE

On my second day here in Singapore, I preferred to wear my striped t-shirt dress and my peach coat over it pairing with my white shoes.

With my sling bag around me and a pair of shades, I was able to basked in the sun without hurting my eyes.

I had my quick breakfast and brushed my teeth before Kuya Ray started touring me around the country.

Our first stop was the Merlion Park at One Fullerton Road. It was a good day despite of the sun flashing its rays on us. Kuya Ray gladly took my solo shots and he became an instant friend.

I found out that he started working as a waiter in a cruise ship first for two years before permanently working as a tour guide in Hotel Michael. He was the breadwinner in his family and met his girlfriend in the same country where she works as one of the performers in Universal Studios.

After spending thirty minutes in Merlion Park, we then went to Esplanade Bridge which was so lovely as it captures Marina Bay Sands as background. We decided not to stay too long so we then transferred to Singapore Flyer and then to Gardens by the Bay.

The Gardens by the Bay was my most favorite destination in our day tour.Gardens by the Bay spans a total of 101 hectares of prime land at the heart of Singapore's new downtown - Marina Bay. Comprising three waterfront gardens - Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central.

I had so much fun and bought along souvenir shirts for my twins and Louisse. I made sure to bought one for myself too.

Kuya Ray and I had our late lunch at Makansutra Gluttons Bay. This looks like a banchetto in the Philippines wherein food stalls are everywhere.
It consists of several varieties which you can choose from depending on your appetite for the day.

Its outdoor ambiance makes you enjoy the view of Marina skyline.
Of course, picture-taking was never out of place.

Kuya Ray took the best shots and I chose to update my profile photo both in Instagram and Facebook.

I giggled when I noticed I attracted a number of likes on my recently uploaded photo.

I locked my phone and was about to put it inside my bag when I heard  notifications from it.

A message request was sent to me along with a friend request.

I opened the message first and read before accepting it.

Peter Jin
Hey, Miss Antonio! Looking lovely in your photo! 😊 Anyways, see you later at 7pm at our hotel's resto. Same place later. 😉🌹

I scoffed and ended up replying to his message.

To: Peter Jin
Okay. Noted, Sir.

I thought for awhile whether to accept his friend request or not. I remembered my twins' photos during their birthday celebrations and other holidays we spent together.

Am I ready to let him in on my life?

Accepting his friend request means letting him in. Accepting means having my permission to go on my profile and rummaging to some parts of my twins' life.

I only have 243 friends on Facebook. All of them I knew way back elementary to my work life. I barely add people whom I recently met.

"Hey, Oli. You okay?" Kuya Ray asked, his eyes squinting with concern.

I snapped back to reverie and smiled. "Yes, okay lang ako. May naalala lang."

I decided to ignore Peter's friend request and placed my cellphone inside my bag.

We finished eating and went back to to the car. I stared out the window and admired the calming view of the blue sky.

It's around 4 in the afternoon when we arrived in our hotel. I grabbed my shopping bags and head out of the car.

I thanked Kuya Ray and paid him the second installment of my tour today.

I still have roughly three hours to spare and I went to the elevator to my room.

Placing the key card at the key fob, I opened the door to my room and found myself staring at a beautiful arrangement of pink carnations sitting on my bed.

My heart fluttered at the kind gesture. Curious although I might have an idea who sent it, I searched for the sender's name on the card.

Olivia Antonio,
I know we have met in such an unlikely manner and I had offended you in some way, I sincerely apologized.
Hope these flowers made you smile, nonetheless. See you at seven. ☺️💐

Yours,
Peter Jin

I smiled and touched the petals admiring its beauty. I smelled its fresh fragrance and placed it on top of the drawer.

Lazily, I roamed my eyes on my cabinet and saw my last two outfits fit for tomorrow's departure to Manila and for this evening's rendezvous.

My eyes went back to the flowers and I can't help not to feel giddy all over.
My teenage hormones crept back again and I laughed at my analogy.

Checking if my laptop still has battery, I quickly changed into my dolphin shorts and black sleeveless top.

I reviewed again my presentation and  thought of some points to suggest later on if it wouldn't be deemed acceptable to Mr. Jin's taste.

Once satisfied, I set my alarm again to six o'clock, allotting an hour of preparation for me before going to our meeting place.

I snuggled to my bed and fell into a deep slumber.
