Who

(First Person)

I woke up suddenly. "What...what happened?" I asked. I felt someone stir and Nagito and I locked eyes. "Ah!" I yelped and he got off me. "Sorry," he said and held his hand out to help me up. I took it. "What...what happened?" I asked. Nagito looked behind him and my gaze followed. There was a body there...lifeless. I stood there frigid, unable to breathe at the sight. There really was a murder...but who? I thought. "The body announcement went off while you were still unconscious. That confirmes that there really was a murder," Nagito explained. I stepped closer to the body.
It was a horrible sight to see. The victim appeared strangled with...wait? "Is that my scarf?" I asked. "What's your scarf doing on them?" Sonia asked. "I don't know?" I said. "You're a prime suspect," Hiyoko said, pointing at me. "Wha- I couldn't even see what was going on, no less strangle them," I snapped, although I was feeling nervous and scared. "Everyone calm down. We can't point fingers just yet," Hajime said even though he looked pale at the sight of the victim. "We need to do a proper investigation before the class trial happens," Byakuya explained (Gotcha there didn't I 😃?). "Class...Trial?" I asked. "Don't act like you don't know," Hiyoko said. I tilted my head at her, looking confused. Hajime was already began to investigate the body. I went up to him. "Hey will you need help with this?" I asked. "I guess so," he said. Does he think I did it? I thought.

(Investigation: START!)

"According to the Monokuma File, the murder happened at 8:37. I was Chiaki all the time even when the lights went off," Hajime explained. "I was with Nagito. Then the lights went off and somehow somebody bumped into me, causing me to fall and pass out," I said. "You passed out?" Hajime asked. I nodded. "That explains why you didn't know about the class trial," Hajime said.

"So the murder weapon was obviously your scarf. It even says "Being strangled" on the Monokuma File," Hajime said. Byakuya had my scarf last. That is certainly odd, I thought. I went up to him. "Hey, I gave you my scarf last. Did you know where you put it?" I asked. Byakuya thought about. "I placed it on the table next to my toolbox," he finally said. He pointed to where a toolbox was. I walked over where it was. But the victim got strangled over there. How did they get my scarf? I thought.

"U-u-um H-h-hajime?" Mikan asked. "Yeah?" I said as she looked at the victim's body. "Mind if I check o-on them?" She asked. I nodded, letting her check on the victim. "A-a-h there's a very th-th-thin wound here," she stuttered. "Huh where?" I asked and she pointed at the victim's leg. There was some blood on it. "Do you know what caused it?" I asked. "I-i-i-it appears to be made from a very th-th-thin object. Like a f-f-f-few inches wide," Mikan explained. That is very odd. Their cause of death is strangulation but then this wound would cause that bloodcurdling scream we all heard, I thought. "Thanks Mikan," I bowed. "A-a-a-anytime," she said.

[Truth Bullet Collected: Mikan's Autopsy report]

"Hey Nekomaru, I saw you walk off somewhere. Where did you go?" I asked him. "I went off to take a huge sh*," he explained. "Excuse me?" I asked, confused. "Bathroom but I couldn't since it was occupied and there was only one," Nekomaru explained. "And you stayed there until the lights came back up again?" I asked and he nodded. Peko came out of the direction that Nekomaru came from earlier. "Oh Peko were you in the bathroom?" I asked. "Why do you want to know?" She asked. "I'm trying to clear everyone up by listening to their alibis and to see if they match," I said. "Oddly specific but yes I was. I ate something that didn't sit right with me so I ended up in the bathroom for a long time. Even longer since the lights went off," she explained. Peko then scowled at the floor. "I did see some light coming from the floor which was odd but also meant someone was peeking on me," Peko said. "Light from the floor?" I asked. "Yes you heard me right. Akane and Mahiru are outside now. I just saw them. I suspect that they are going to check to see if there's an opening to the floor," she said. "Ok, I'll go see them now," I said.

[Truth Bullet Collected: Light from Floor]

I walked out to see that despite of everything, the sky looked beautiful with the moon out. As if it was mocking us. I stepped down and noticed the two girls studying the floorboards. "Hey, find anything?" I asked, walking up to them. "I took some pictures through the cracks with the night vision lens of my camera. Hopefully they might give us some clue," Mahiru said and showed me the pictures. The first one looked plain and dusty. The second was interesting because it showed the beginning of a path. The third one showed the path and the last one showed a white sheet. "Did someone sneak under the floorboards?" Akane asked. "If they did, then it would have been completely dark. They would need a light source of some sort and one that we couldn't see," Mahiru said. "Well they were stupid enough to leave that white sheet behind," Akane said. "Maybe not since nobody thought about the floorboards other than you two," I said.

I walked to the kitchen to talk to Teruteru. He was off in the kitchen the whole time I believe so he might have seen something or at least I can get a snack. Just something to grind my chattering teeth into. "Hey Teruteru, mind if I ask you something?" I asked. He was at the stove, thumbing at something nervously. "Eh? Ah sure," he said. "Where were you at 8:37?" I asked. "Here in the kitchen, waiting for the blackout to pass," he said. "Uh huh...hey isn't there usually a white sheet here," I said pointing at a table with a basket of fruit sitting on there. "How do you know there is usually a white sheet here?" Teruteru asked suspiciously. "I help clean this place, of course I'd know if something was out of place. Though only major changes," I said, muttering the last part under my breath. "Well I don't know where that sheet went. It was dark in here so I couldn't see anything," Teruteru explained. I gave him a cold glare like I possibly didn't believe him but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I had no suspicions either.

[Truth Bullet Collected: Missing White Sheet]

I began to explore the kitchen to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. "Hey what's this?" I asked. Teruteru looked at where I was pointing. "The knife case. Oh it appears one is missing," he explained. I looked at the knife case. Odd why didn't Byakuya confiscated this before...unless he didn't know it was here, I thought. "You know, I didn't see the knife case until after the party started. Do you think someone hid it from me?" Teruteru asked. "It's a possibility," I said. "Hey I did not murder him if you are suspecting me," he said. I turned back to him, smiling. "Oh not at all," I said cheerfully. Not until you show your true colors at the trial, I thought.

"So what's this?" I asked, picking up what I believe was a mini stove. "Hey be careful with that!" Teruteru snapped as I dropped it. "Well excuse me, it was still hot. You as The Ultimate Cook, should know not to have hot surfaces on at times like these," I said, putting my hands on my hips. He began to sweat nervously. "It appears I have touched a nerve," I said. "You have been hanging around with Nagito too much," he said. "What does he have to do with hot surfaces?" I asked. "He's dangerous. Just away from him. Trust me," Teruteru said, his eyes being serious. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Anyway, could you have used this as a light source to navigate in the dark. Could have been real useful for the blackout," I asked, changing the subject. "Don't be ridiculous. You'll only see a faint light. Not ideal for traveling in the dark," Teruteru explained. "So hypothetically speaking, you could use it as a light source, it just won't work as well like a flashlight or something?" I asked. He shrugged, "It's a possibility."

[Truth Bullet Collected: Mini Stove]

"I think that'll be it here," I said, bowing at an awkward 90 degree angle. I walked out of the kitchen. I went back to the body. I noticed some blood on the victim's leg. My eyes darted to the table and saw some blood stains on the sheet. I frowned. The wound didn't seem that deep so no way would it stain that much. Ok, maybe some but not as much, I thought. I got my knees, carefully so I wouldn't tamper with the scene. I got under the table and noticed the knife. It was bloody but it wasn't that much. Like someone did a shallow stab. This case is super interesting. Who attacked who? I wondered.

(Hajime's PoV)

I walked back inside. I saw Flare crawl out from under the table. "Hey what were you doing there?" I asked. "I found a knife," she simply said. "A knife?" I asked. "Yep and I found out that there was a knife case in the kitchen with a missing knife. If I'm not mistaken then the knife I found must be the missing knife," she explained. The way she said said knife like it's second nature made me nervous. Not that I didn't trust her. Do I even trust her at all? "I'm going to see if there is anything underneath there," I said. "Go ahead," Flare got up from her knees and made room for me to crawl through. There was bloodstains and a bloody knife. So she was correct, I thought. There remains one question...how did the knife get here? I looked up and saw tape covered in some sort of green goo. I touched it and it got on my fingers. I crawled out and saw Flare waiting with her arms folded. "Found anything?" She asked. I held up my fingers. "I found some tape and it was covered in this," I explained. "Well what is it?" Flare asked. "I'm not sure. The question is where did the tape come from?" I asked. "There's tape in the super market," Flare said suddenly. "Really?" "Yep so whoever placed the knife there must have gone to the super market to get the tape. They probably had time to plan out the murder," she spectated. "That's a possibility," I said.

"Hey Hajime, Flare! Come check this out!" Nagito called to us. He was near the toolbox and Flare's scarf. "What's up?" Flare asked. "Miraculously this tool box opened but sadly I could only find this," Nagito held up a lens. "That looks like a night vision lens," I said. "How do you know that?" Flare asked, curious. "It's similar to Mahiru's camera lenses," I explained what the girls found. Flare looked back at the toolbox as she processed the information that I gave her. "Strange...why would Byakuya have something like this in his toolbox," I heard her mutter.

[Truth Bullet Collected: Empty Toolbox]

"Since strangulation was the cause of death, someone had to reach over and choke the victim. It couldn't have been anymore small unless they jumped," Nagito said. "That's right!" I exclaimed. "Let's check the Monokuma file again for the height," Flare said.

(Insert Victim's name) Height-172 cm. Weight-64kg.

"That doesn't narrow it down to much," Flare said. "Sadly no but at least we can use this information to our advantage if height is ever brought up," I said, a tone of sadness in my voice.

(Flare's PoV)

"I'll be double checking stuff. I'm sure the trial will start soon," I said. "Alright," Hajime said. He and Nagito walked off. I tapped my fingers on the table. I feel like we're missing something but what? I thought. "Hey that's an unbalanced rhythm," Ibuki said, suddenly popping up right in front of me. "Ah!" I yelled and nearly fell. "Ah sorry. Ibuki can't help it when she hears unbalanced rhythms," she apologized. "Oh it's fine...wait how can you hear it from where you were standing?" I asked. "Ibuki has sharp hearing. Ibuki can hear many things that are around her at the same time," she explained. "Really? Can you tell me what happened during when the lights went off?" I asked. Ibuki nodded.

(Flashback: Full story)

"Hey what's this?"

"The hell is going on?"

"Who turned off the lights?"

"Wait what?"

"This isn't funny."

"H-hey!"

"What...nng! What are you doing?"

"Hey is anyone there?"

"Ouch!"

"Huh what the-?"

"And that's it! I'm pretty sure you know what happens next," Ibuki said. "I see now. Thank you Ibuki, this will be helpful for the trial!" I said. "No problem!" Ibuki said.

I clutch onto my E-Handbook. I carefully walked away even though it may raise some eyebrows. "Hey Alter-Ego was it? Are you there?" I asked. Alter-Ego's head appeared on my screen, looking worried. "Hey first of all, I want to say sorry about me yelling at you. I didn't mean it," I said. "It's alright. I know that it was hard to believe it. That one of your classmates would murder another," he said. I smiled. That was the hard part. "Hey so... you were made to analyze data right?" I asked. Alter-Ego nodded. "Is it possible to analyze the data of the voices of my classmates during the blackout?" I asked. Alter-Ego went quiet as he started to think. I stood there, fidgeting. I didn't like the silence. "It may be hard but I can do it," he finally said. "That's...that's great!" I exclaimed happily. "Now go. The class trial will be starting soon. You wouldn't want to miss it," Alter-Ego said. I nodded and his head disappeared. I ran out back to the body. I looked down at it. ... I'm sorry. I am truly sorry, I thought, trembling.

Kazuichi Souda, The Ultimate Mechanic was dead. I looked away. We'll find out who did this, I thought.

(Didn't expect that one coming did ya? The class trial will be next chapter and in third person instead. I'm getting better at writing in third person. Take your best guess on who murdered Kazuichi. Cya in the next one -Flare)
