Introductions and Welcome to Hell
(First person)
"Where am I?" I asked. "I'm not sure. It's an island as you can obviously see but it's a bit complicated to explain," the voice explained. I got a better look of the owner of the voice. It was a tall boy with white hair. He wore a green coat and a white shirt with a red symbol of some sort. "Can you sit up?" Another voice asked. I stiffly sat up but there was a pain on my head. "You're bleeding! We need to get Mikan!" That same voice cried. I got a good look at that voice. It belong to another boy, this one with brown hair with a hair antenna sticking out. He wore a white shirt with a green tie. "I'll go get her," yet another voice said this one was feminine and she ran off. I couldn't tell who they were. "How did you get here? We didn't see you with the rest of us," the brown haired boy asked. "Huh? Rest of us?" I asked. "Yep. Apparently we're supposed to be on a "field trip" but this doesn't feel like it," the white haired boy explained. "So what does it feel like?" I asked. Just then, a white and black bear popped out of nowhere. "Upupu~ it's aaaaaaaaaa killing game!" They cried. "Gwah!" I said and felt a prick of pain on my head again. "My my. You sure are jumpy are ya?" The bear asked. "Who the hell are you?" I asked. "My so rude. Well I guess it can't be helped. I am Monokuma! I am the supervisor for this field trip aka killing game," the bear explained. "Killing game?" I asked. "Yep! If you kill someone here successfully, then you'll be able to leave this trip!" Monokuma said. A killing game? WHAT THE HELL?! I thought, tugging at my scarf.
"Now I must take my leave. Here," Monokuma handed me a tablet thing. "What's this?" I asked. "It's yooouuurrrr Student E-Handbook!" Monokuma said. I looked down at it and glanced back up to the bear but he disappeared. "Tch, that bear gets on my nerves," the white haired boy said. The brown haired boy nodded and turned to me. "I think Chiaki will be here with Mikan," he told me. I blinked and put a hand on my head. "Is it really that bad?" I asked. I felt something sticky and removed my hand to see something pink on it. Blood? "Sadly yes. However, I'm glad you're not dead. Else this trip would have began with a sour note for you," the white haired boy said. "Oh. We forgot to introduce ourselves. I am Hajime Hinata," the brown haired boy said. "I'm Nagito Komaeda. I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student," the white haired boy said. I swallowed and said, "My name is Flare Shiro. I'm the Ultimate Storyteller." I looked at Hajime. "You don't have an Ultimate talent?" I asked. "I don't remember it. Hopefully I will," Hajime explained. "Ah," I said. "Can you stand up?" Nagito asked. "I...I think so," I replied and got up but felt a wave of dizziness. "Whoa. Take it easy," Nagito said as he made sure I wouldn't fall (again). "I think I'm fine," I muttered. "Oh here they come now," Hajime exclaimed and sure enough two girls were running where we were. One had a lightish pink hair and a hoodie. Another had violet hair and had the clothing of a nurse. "We're here," the pink haired girl said. The violet haired girl had some bandages in hand. "Oh d-dear. Th-th-that looks bad. How did y-y-you get that wound?" She asked, stuttering. "Fell," I replied. "Let me have a l-l-l-look," she walked up to me and studied the wound on my head. She wrapped the bandage around my head and wiped the blood from my neck where it trickled down. "Th-there. The b-b-bleeding stopped. Th-thank goodness the wound wasn't t-t-to deep," she said in a relief, stuttering tone. I muttered a thanks. "I think I'll be able to walk," I said. "Th-th-that's good," the violet haired girl said.
"I think you'll be able to meet the others now. They are in the hotel at the moment," the pink haired girl said. "R-right," I said, stuttering myself. Great, I thought sarcastically. "I'm Chiaki Nanami. I'm the Ultimate Gamer," the pink haired girl said. "A-and my name is M-mikan Tsumiki. I'm the U-Ultimate Nurse," the violet haired girl said. I told them my name and talent. "Ultimate Storyteller? Do you tell stories and share them?" Chiaki asked. "In a way yes. It's not the greatest talent in the world," I explained. "I think it's better than my talent," Nagito said. "Really? I think having Luck is pretty useful," I pointed out. Nagito stayed quiet as if he was thinking about it. "Let's just go so you can meet the others," Hajime said and we all walked to the hotel that Chiaki mentioned. We went up the stairs and saw 12 other students already there, all in their unique characteristics. Wait why am I thinking like that? I thought. "Who's this?" An elegant looking girl asked. Monokuma popped up again and said, "She's your new classmate! Now we'll have another person joining in the killing game!" "We told you, we are not doing this messed up game," a red haired girl with a camera said. "Upupupu~ it's not like you have a choice do you?" Monokuma asked. Then a white and pink rabbit popped up and said, "Hey no scaring the new student." I may or may not have yelled a swear word or two in my surprise. "My my Monomi. You scared the new student. You should be ashamed of yourself," Monokuma said and Monomi sobbed. "I'm sowwy," she said. "Anyway, get along as soon as you can before the betrayal of this game," Monokuma explained before disappearing. Monomi disappeared as well, crying. "Oh so you're a new student. It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Sonia Nevermind, the Ultimate Princess," the elegant girl said. "Nevermind? Is that really your last name?" I asked and she nodded. "Hey don't you dare make fun of Ms. Sonia's name," a pink haired boy wearing a beanie said. I turned to look at him. "And you are?" I asked trying to sound polite. "I am Kazuichi Souda. The Ultimate Mechanic at your service!" He said.
"My name is Flare Shiro. I'm the Ultimate Storyteller," I said. "Phhft that's both a dumb name and a dumb talent," a voice said. I turned to look at who was speaking and it was a blonde haired girl wearing a kimono. "And who the hell are you supposed to be?" I snapped. "My name is Hiyoko Saionji. I'm the Ultimate Traditional Dancer. And let's Not be friends. I don't trust you," she said. I don't even want to be friends with a pig like you, I thought but I said nothing. I just rolled my eyes at her. "Ah don't mind her. She just has trust issues," the red haired girl said. "Tch," was all I could say. "If we don't get along, it'll make this game more likely to happen," she explained. "Hey let's not fight," Hajime said. "Right, thank you Hajime. Anyway, my name is Mahiru Koizumi. My Ultimate Talent is Ultimate Photographer," she said. "*nom* I'm Akane Owari. I'm the Ultimate Gymnast *nom*," a brown haired girl with a shirt that was showing way too much detail, said as she ate some food. "My you're such a pretty girl," a boy with chef clothes said. I was about to say a polite thank you but I noticed the blood from his nose. Oh no, he's one of those people, I thought. "My name is Teruteru Hanamura. I'm the Ultimate Cook," he said and I gave out a awkward chuckle. I glanced at Chiaki but she gave me a 'just deal with it and ignore him' look. A stern looking girl with two silver-grey braids was talking to a small boy with a babyish face. She turned to look at me. "I am Peko Pekoyama. My Ultimate Talent is Ultimate Swordswoman," she said and turn back to talk with the small boy. That explains what she has strapped to her back, I thought. "Greetings, I am Gundam Tanaka, the Ultimate Breeder. Now tell me who do you master to?" Another boy with a longer scarf than mine asked. "Huh?" I asked. Gundam repeated his question and I still have him my confused look. "I think he's referring if you have a pet," Nagito said. "Oh well I always wanted both a dog and a cat but no I don't have one at the moment," I said. "Hmmph very well. I shall let you escape my wrath since you have wishful thinking of getting one for now," he said.
Well that certainly was odd, I thought. "HELLO!" Suddenly a girl with blue and pink dyed hair appeared right in my face. "Ah!" I cried and almost fell. "Ah Ibuki apologizes for scaring you," she said. "O-oh, no it's alright," I assured her timidly. "I'm Ibuki Mioda, the Ultimate Musician," she said still being loud. "Ibuki try not to scare her. She's still recovering from her injury," Hajime said and Ibuki clapped her hands once. "Ok! Ibuki will be super super careful," she said. There was this bulky looking guy with Akane and he was watching us with his arms folded. "I am Nekomaru Nidai. My Ultimate Talent is Ultimate Team Manager," he said, his voice booming. And then, there was this fat looking guy just waiting for everyone else to finish introducing themselves. He looked important though so I suppose mentioning his weight and his looks would be out of the question if I value my...well I wouldn't say life more like my reputation really. "I'm Byakuya Togami, the Ultimate Affluent Progeny," he said. Why does his name sound familiar? Togami...oh he must be the heir to the Togami company, I thought. "So who's that guy talking to Peko?" I asked Chiaki after a long awkward pause. "Oh him. Hang on. Hey, Fuyuhiko. You still haven't introduced yourself to Flare," she called out. He didn't seem happy but at last he said, "I'm Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, Ultimate Yakuza." He said nothing after that. Ok not much of a talker really, I thought.
"Now that we got introductions out of the way, let us all eat lunch," Sonia said. Wait lunch?! I thought. Just how long was I out for? "Flare are you ok?" Chiaki asked. "Oh it's nothing," I said but she gave me a concerned look. Teruteru, despite of what his hobby might be (just take a guess), really can cook up a mean meal. I was halfway through my food before I remembered how to breathe. "Wow, I never seen anyone eat food that fast before," Chiaki teased. "I'm just hungry," I said. "So how long have you guys been here?" I asked the two people who were next to me, (Chiaki and Nagito). "We haven't been here that long. Just a day and yet on that same day we heard about the killing game," Nagito explained. "What about you? We didn't see you when we arrived here," Chiaki asked. "I'm not sure. It's all fuzzy but I remember being late or whatever," I said. "You said you fell right? Where did you fall from?" Nagito asked and I raked my memory to see if I can remember. "I don't know the sky? Look, the fall must have caused me to blackout and forget my memory. All I remember is entering Hope's Peak Academy," I explained. They both looked at me expecting a more detailed answer. I looked back at my food. "Believe me that's all I can remember, I can't remember anything else," I said. "It's alright. None of us can really remember either. Apparently we all had school with each other before this trip but our memories just got taken away," Chiaki explained. "Is that so?" I asked. "You might have been a part of our class before all of this but who knows," Nagito said. "So what's up with the bear and rabbit?" I asked, changing the subject. "Apparently Monokuma is our "principal" and Monomi is our teacher," Nagito explained. "Monomi was actually first introduced to us by the name Usami and wore a cute magic girl outfit before Monokuma came and now all she wears is that ugly diaper," Chiaki explained. "Poor rabbit," I said. "Oi new girl! Pass the meat buns," Akane called out. I passed her the meat buns. We finished eating lunch.
"I'll show you the way to the cottages," Nagito said. I followed him to where a bunch of cottages were. "I was wondering why there was an empty cottage right in front of mine. Turns out that it's yours," he said. This cottage looked the same as the rest but has a small pixalated version of me on the mailbox. "Hopefully you'll feel right at home here," Nagito said. "Thanks Nagito," I said. "Anytime Flare," he said. He walked towards his own cottage. I entered mine. It looked cozy. There was a bookshelf filled with manga and novels and a desk that had a cup of colored pencils. Neatly stored away were pieces of blank paper just waiting there. I smiled. Yes I like to read and draw. I'm a bit weird that way but hey many people can relate to that. The bed was big and had cornflower blue covers and pillows. The oddest sight though was a pocketknife sitting in the middle of the desk. Its handle was red and when I switched it to blade mode, it was sharp. I doubt I'd use it though. I switched the blade back to its handle form and slipped it in my pocket. Just in case though I probably wouldn't use it. I lay down on my bed, arms behind my head as I stared at the ceiling. That was an eventful day, I thought. My classmates (if I can even call them that) seem nice enough not counting Hiyoko that is. However I feel like I'm missing something. My memory. Our memories. Why were they taken? How did we actually end up on this island? And why do I feel like someone is watching me? I blinked at that last statement. I'm probably just paranoid, I thought.
I got out of my bed and walked out of my cottage to see if there is anything to do. I felt bored as heck and I wanted to do something. Maybe Chiaki has some free time on her hands. I went back to the hotel and saw Chiaki playing some arcade game. "Hey...what are you playing?" I asked. "It's a fighting game. It can be played with two players. Wanna play?" She asked. "Sure," I said. Chiaki was Player One and I was Player Two. She picked out a guy in a white fighter suit and I picked a girl with a blue Chinese looking outfit. We started Round 1 and began to mash buttons and move the joystick whenever we needed to. Round 1 went to Chiaki. Her Ultimate is no joke, I thought. Round 2 came and I preformed poorly. Chiaki won. "Rematch," I said and Chiaki chuckled, "We still have time to crunch." The rounds came and went with Chiaki being the victor. Despite this, I still wanted to play. After many rounds went by, Chiaki said, "Ok after this round, we'll go and get some snacks." I nodded, filling up with Determination to beat her at least once. The Round started pretty badly from me so I had to play defensively. However when Chiaki stopped to sneeze, I managed to hit a powerful combo to Chiaki's fighter. "Whoa! That was an advance move. Where did you learned that?" She asked and I shrugged,"By mashing buttons I guess." I ended up winning that round. Next round will decide the winner. Chiaki ended up winning but I couldn't help smiling that I beat the Ultimate Gamer in one round. "That was fun," she said, yawning. "I know right," I said. "Come on let's go get snacks," Chiaki said. I followed her to this super market where we got a couple of chips and even got some soda (Not Kazuichi). At the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar floofy white hair. Nagito? I wondered. I walked up to where he was.
"Hey. Nagito?" I asked. He jumped and turned to face me. "Oh crap. I'm sorry if I scared you," I said but he put his hand on my shoulder. "It's alright. I was just looking at stuff," he explained. "Ok?" I said with a questioning tone. He looked a bit hesitant to meet me in the eyes. Either he doesn't like looking at people in the eyes (I know I don't.) or he's hiding something. My eyes gazed upon something behind him. "And you were looking at tape because...?" I asked him and he glanced back. "O-oh that. I just feel like tape can be useful for something that I need. Nothing more," Nagito awkwardly chuckled. I looked up at him and scowled. "Why am I so short?" I muttered to myself. "So why are you here?" Nagito asked. "Oh, Chiaki and I were just getting some snacks," I explained immediately removing my scowl and replaced it with a neutral expression. "It appears like you two are getting along well," he said. "Well I feel like I'm more like myself when I'm around her and you," I explained. "Really?" Nagito seemed a little bit surprised. I nodded. "I feel like I trust you two especially with this whole situation. I hope we can become friends," I said. Nagito's eyes lit up at the word hope and asked, "Are you sure you can be friends with trash like me?" "Huh? What do you mean trash like you?" I questioned. "Nobody wants to be friends with me and I understand why. I am human trash," he explained. I tilted my head to one side. "But I don't think of you as trash. It lowers self esteem if you call yourself that," I said. "But it's the truth," Nagito said. I shook my head. "I highly doubt it. I seriously do hope we'll be friends," I said. "I believe you. Don't give up on those...hopeful thoughts," he said. I blinked at the way he said 'hopeful.' "Hey Flare, why did you go?" Chiaki called out. "Oh I'm coming don't worry," I called back at her. "I guess I should be going now," I said turning back to Nagito. "Ah of course. I wouldn't want to ruin the blossoming of a new friendship," he said. "Maybe we can hang out sometime," I suggested. "Really? I'll put that into consideration," Nagito said. I waved goodbye at him and walked to where Chiaki was. "Was that Nagito you were talking to?" Chiaki asked. "Yeah apparently he was looking at the tape," I explained. "That's odd," Chiaki noted, tilting her head. "Yeah but there's nothing that we can do about it," I said.
We went back to the hotel to play some more games but with snacks this time. We played a racing game and then an RPG game. Turns out I have found my gaming element with the RPG game. "Wow that was an impressive attack," Chiaki remarked. "Thanks. Woah lucky, their attack missed you," I said. We played through the dungeon and after possibly grinding for a bit, decided to battle the boss. "We got a lot of healing items right?" I asked. Chiaki went to our inventory to check and gave me a thumbs up. "Ok so apparently the boss is an earth user so we'll need our grass user for this one," I said. "Right," Chiaki agreed. We battled the boss and won just barely. "Thank god, luck was on our side. If that attack didn't miss, we would have lost," I said. Chiaki drank some soda. "That was fun Flare," she said. "We should do this again sometime," I suggested. "Sounds good, maybe after you hang out with Nagito," Chiaki turned to look at me with a smile. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, tilting my head. "You want to get close to him right?" Chiaki asked. I looked down at my bag of chips. "Well he seems pretty lonely so I thought I'd hang out with him sometime," I explained. "That's good. After all, I think you'll be a good friend to him," Chiaki said. "Really?" I asked uncertain and she nodded. "Well I think we should log off for the night. Monokuma is going to do the evening announcement in a few minutes," Chiaki said. "Ok." We cleaned up our gaming space and threw away the empty chip bags and soda cans. Sure enough after we finished, Monokuma did his evening announcement and both of us walked to our cottages. "See you tomorrow Flare," Chiaki waved. "Cya," I waved back. I entered my cottage and locked the door behind me. I changed out my clothes and into my pajamas that I found earlier. I folded them and place them neatly into a laundry basket. Hopefully there is a place to do the laundry here, I thought. I slipped under my covers as darkness surrounded my cottage. This sure may be hell but at least I can manage to survive here for a while, I thought. I drifted off to the land of dreams.
(A/N: to clear up any confusion, here on the A/N's I'll be referring to my persona Oc as Shiro while here I'll be referring to myself as Flare. You can all come Flare or Flareon if you'd like. This was more of a side story that I'm working on so possibly even slower updates here than the rest of my stories. I'll be giving this story the first three early chapters before working on the fourth after I publish it by the time I'm writing this. Any thoughts on this? Cya in the next one -Flare
Edit on 12/28: yeah I'm editing this story a lot and I'm fixing a lot of mistakes that I did. Also I deleted the prologue because now with what I want in mind, it wouldn't make sense at all. Hopefully this would be less cringe than when I first started.
